  • The effects of Reynolds number on the non-nulling calibration of a cone-type five-hole probe in low-speed flows have been investigated at the Reynolds numbers of $2.04{\times}10^3,\;4.09{\times}10^3$, and $6.13{\times}10^3$. The calibration is conducted at the pitch and yaw angles in ranges between -35 degrees and 35 degrees with an angle interval of 5 degrees. The result shows that each calibration coefficient, in general, is a function of the pitch and yaw angles, so that the pre-existing calibration data in a nulling mode are not enough in accounting for the full non-nulling calibration characteristics. Due to the interference of the probe stem, the calibration coefficients have more Reynolds number sensitivity at positive pitch angles than at negative ones.

  • Data from five Hanwoo breeding farms were collected to analyze the effects of parity, season, nutrition and reproduction on body conditions of heifers and cows and to analyze the relationships of body conditions with reproductive performances and body growth. Analytic models included farms and parity which were run through SAS to estimate least squares means and correlation coeflicients between traits body condition scores(BCS) of I(very emaciated) through 9(very obese) scale at service and at calving. calving interval, days to rebreeding, gestation length. number of services per conception. Overall averages were 4.55 for BCS at service, 5.42 for BCS at calving. 406.7days of calving interval, 287.7days of gestation length, 66.2days from calving 10 first service and 1.78 times of services per conception. Number of services per conception was 1.50${\sim}$1.74 times for the cows of BCS 5 or under and 2.00${\sim}$3.00 for those of BCS 6 or higher. Body weight of calves from cows observed averaged 23.3kg at birth and 70.7kg at weaning. 57 percent of cows showed BCS 4${\sim}$5 at service while 46 percent of those showed 5${\sim}$6 at calving. Estimated phenotypic correlation coefficients of BCS at service with BCS at calving, calving interval, gestation length, number of services per conception were low but positive: 0.16, 0.26. 0.08 and 0.06. respectively. Phenotypic correlations of BCS at calving with calving interval, gestation length and number of services per conception were estimated to be also low and positive: 0.10, 0.13 and 0.10. respectively. However, phenotypic correlations between calving interval and gestation length, and between gestation length and number of services per conception were negative but low as - 0.11 and- 0.13 each.

Application of Geo-Statistic and Data-Mining for Determining Sampling Number and Interval for Monitoring Microbial Diversity in Tidal Mudflat (갯벌 미생물 다양성 모니터링 시료 채취 개수 및 간격 선정을 위한 지구통계학적 기법과 데이터 마이닝 적용 연구)

  • Tidal mudflat is a reservoir for diverse microbial resources. Microbial diversity in tidal mudflat sediment can be easily influenced by various human activities. It is necessary to take representative samples to monitor microbial diversity in tidal mudflat sediments. In this study, we analyzed the microbial diversity and chemical characteristics of vegetation and non-vegetation tidal mudflat regions in the Kangwha tidal mudflat using geo-statistics and data-mining. According to the geo-statistical analysis, most correlation range values for the vegetation region were smaller than those for the non-vegetation region, which suggested that the shorter number and interval of sampling are required for the vegetation tidal mudflat environment due to its higher degree of chemical and biological complexity and heterogeneity. The data-mining analysis suggested that the organic content and nitrate were the major environmental factors influencing microbial diversity in the vegetation region while pH and sulfate were the major influencing factors in the non-vegetation region. Using the geo-statistical and data-mining integration approach, we proposed a guideline for determining the sampling interval and number to monitor microbial diversity in tidal mudflat.

A Study on the Family Life Cycle Model in the Rural Area (농촌의 가정생활주기 모형 설정에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of the study are to understand of rural family life cycle(FLC) and to get a FLC model for the twentieth in rural area. Data for the study were collected from 603 farm households in rural area. The major findings are as follows; 1) The age of first marriage was 21.5 years old(urban : 22.4), the first bearing 23.2(24.2), the last bearing 31.7(32.6), the first child marriage 47.2(46.5), and the last child marriage 59.7(52.7). The number of child and interval were 3.9 persons and 2.9 years respectively. From the survey results, the rural family life cycle was established. Establishment stage(from the marriage to the 1st child birth) : 21-23 yrs. Extension stage(from the 1st child birth to the last child birth) : 23-32 yrs. Complete extension stage(from the last child birth to the 1st child's marriage) : 32-47 yrs. Shrinking stage(from the 1st child's marriage to the last child's marriage) : 47-60 yrs. Complete shrinking stage(from the last child's marri ge to the death of husband) : 60-63 yrs. Dissolution stage(from the death of husband to the death of wife) : 53-75 yrs. 2) In general, the older the age, the younger the first marriage age, the greater the number of child, and the longer the interval of child bearing. The last child's marriage was too last to have the period of recovery stage. In terms of FLC by marital chorts, the later the year of marriage, the older the age of the first marriage and first baby bearing, the smaller the number of child, and the faster the launching stage. The higher the educational level, the older age of the first marriage and the first baby bering, the smaller the number of child, and the shorter the interval of child bearing. 3) Two types of rural FLC model for the twentieth were formulated. Type A was formulated based on the survey results and type B was formulated based on 『'88 population dynamics survey』 of Economic Planning Board(EPB). 「TYPE A」*Establishment stage(from the marriag to the 1st child birth) : 22.5-23.5 yrs. one child : the 1st child's marriage(49.5yrs), the death of husband(64.2yrs), the death of wife(71.7yrs) two children : the last child's birth(25.7yrs), the last child's marriage(51.7 yrs) three children : the last child's birth(27.9yrs) the last child's marriage(53.9yrs) 「TYPE B」*Establishment stage(from the marriage to the 1st child birth) : 25.3-26.3 yrs. one child : the lst child's marriage(52.3yrs), the death of husband(67.0yrs), the death of wife(74.5yrs) two children : the last child's birth(27.8yrs), the last child's marriage(53.8 yrs.) three children : the last child's birth(29.3yrs), the last child's marriage(55.3yrs).

Investigating the present situation for oriental-medical examination and treatment of ADHD children (주의력부족 과잉행동장애 환아에 대한 임상현황연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the present situation for oriental examination and treatment of ADHD by questionnaire. Methods : We surveied oriental clinics which publicized on internet that they run a clinic of ADHD and oriental university hospitals which had a department of Pediatrics or Neurophycholosy. Results : The number of responding that the period of actively attending upon treatment of ADHD children was less than 3 years was 9(60%). The number of responding that in these 3 months, the number of ADHD children visiting clinics were under ten was 8(53.3%). The number of responding that the average age of ADHD children visiting clinics were 7 to 10 years old were 10(66.7%). The number of responding that they assessed diagnosis of ADHD children were 7(46.7%). The number of responding that they assessed oriental medical examination to ADHD children were 9(60%). The number of responding that the most effective treatment to ADHD children was Herbal Medicine was 10(66.7%). The number of responding that the interval of treatment of ADHD was 1 to 3 months was 9(60%). Conclusions : Recently oriental medical treatments for ADHD has been attempted. Treatment methods were herbal medicine, acupuncture, parents education, etc. But further studies are needed.

A Study on Sensitivity of Pollutant Dispersion to Inflow Wind Speed and Turbulent Schmidt Number in a Street Canyon (도시 협곡에서 유입류 풍속과 난류 슈미트수에 대한 대기오염물질 확산의 민감도 연구)

  • In this study, sensitivity of inflow wind speed and turbulent Schmidt number to pollutant dispersion in an urban street canyon is investigated, by comparing CFD-simulated results to wind-tunnel results. For this, we changed systematically inflow wind speed at the street-canyon height ($1.5{\sim}10.0m\;s^{-1}$ with the increment of $0.5m\;s^{-1}$) and turbulent Schmidt number (0.2~1.3 with interval of 0.1). Also, we performed numerical experiments under the conditions that turbulent Schmidt numbers selected with the magnitude of mean kinetic energy at each grid point were assigned in the street canyon. With the increase of the inflow wind speed, the model underestimated (overestimated) pollutant concentration in the upwind (downwind) side of the street canyon because of the increase of pollutant advection. This implies that, for more realistic reproduction of pollutant dispersion in urban street canyons, large (small) turbulent Schmidt number should be assigned for week (strong) inflow condition. In the cases of selectively assigned turbulent Schmidt number, mean bias remarkably decreased (maximum 60%) compared to the cases of constant turbulent Schmidt number assigned. At week (strong) inflow wind speed, root mean square error decreases as the area where turbulent Schmidt number is selectively assigned becomes large (small).

Train interval control and train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm for autonomous train driving control system (열차자율주행제어시스템을 위한 간격제어와 차상중심 분산형 연동 알고리즘)

  • Train control systems have changed from wayside electricity-centric to onboard communications-centric. The latest train control system, the CBTC system, has high efficiency for interval control based on two-way radio communications between the onboard and wayside systems. However, since the wayside system is the center of control, the number of input trains to allow a wayside system is limited, and due to the cyclic-path control flows between onboard and wayside systems, headway improvement is limited. In this paper, we propose a train interval-control and train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm for an autonomous train-driving control system. Because an autonomous train-driving control system performs interval and branch control onboard, both tracks and switches are shared resources as well as semaphore elements. The proposed autonomous train-driving control performs train interval control via direct communication between trains or between trains and track-side apparatus, instead of relying on control commands from ground control systems. The proposed interlocking algorithm newly defines the semaphore scheme using a unique key for the shared resource, and a switch that is not accessed at the same time by the interlocking system within each train. The simulated results show the proposed autonomous train-driving control system improves interval control performance, and safe train control is possible with a simplified interlocking algorithm by comparing the proposed train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm and various types of interlock logic performed in existing interlocking systems.

Detection of Complex Event Patterns over Interval-based Events (기간기반 복합 이벤트 패턴 검출)

  • The point-based complex event processing handled an instantaneous event by using one time stamp in each event. However, the activity period of the event plays the important role in the field which is the same as the finance, multimedia, medicine, and meteorology. The point-based event is insufficient for expressing the complex temporal relationship in this field. In the application field of the real-time world, the event has the period. The events more than two kinds can be temporally overlapped. In addition, one event can include the other event. The relation about the events of kind of these can not be successive like the point-based event. This thesis designs and implements the method detecting the patterns of the complex event by using the interval-based events. The interval-based events can express the overlapping relation between events. Furthermore, it can include the others. By using the end point of beginning and end point of the termination, the operator of interval-based events shows the interval-based events. It expresses the sequence of the interval-based events and can detect the complex event patterns. This thesis proposes the algorithm using the active instance stack in order to raise efficiency of detection of the complex event patterns. When comprising the event sequence, this thesis applies the window push down technique in order to reduce the number of intermediate results. It raises the utility factor of the running time and memory.

A Study on Gene Search Using Test for Interval Data (구간형 데이터 검정법을 이용한 유전자 탐색에 관한 연구)

  • The methylation score, expressed as a percentage of the methylation status data derived from the iterative sequencing process, has a value between 0 and 1. It is contrary to the assumption of normal distribution that simply applying the t-test to examine the difference in population-specific methylation scores in these data. In addition, since the result may vary depending on the number of repetitions of sequencing in the process of methylation score generation, a method that can analyze such errors is also necessary. In this paper, we introduce the symbolic data analysis and the interval K-S test method which convert observation data into interval data including uncertainty rather than one numerical data. In addition, it is possible to analyze the characteristics of methylation score by using Beta distribution without using normal distribution in the process of converting into interval data. For the data analysis, the nature of the proposed method was examined using sequencing data of actual patients and normal persons. While the t-test is only possible for the location test, it is found that the interval type K-S statistic can be used to test not only the location parameter but also the heterogeneity of the distribution function.

Impact of the Interval between Previous Endoscopic Exam and Diagnosis on the Mortality and Treatment Modality of Undifferentiated-Type Gastric Cancer

  • Purpose: The impact of the interval between previous endoscopy and diagnosis on the treatment modality or mortality of undifferentiated (UD)-type gastric cancer is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effect of endoscopic screening interval on the stage, cancer-related mortality, and treatment methods of UD-type gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: We reviewed the medical records of newly diagnosed patients with UD gastric cancer in 2013, in whom the interval between previous endoscopy and diagnosis could be determined. The patients were classified into different groups according to the period from the previous endoscopy to diagnosis (<12 months, 12-23 months, 24-35 months, ≥36 months, and no history of endoscopy), and the outcomes were compared between the groups. In addition, patients who underwent endoscopic and surgical treatment were reclassified based on the final treatment results. Results: The number of enrolled patients was 440, with males representing 64.1% of the study population; 11.8% of the participants reported that they had undergone endoscopy for the first time in their cancer diagnosis. The percentage of stage I cancer at diagnosis significantly decreased as the interval from the previous endoscopy to diagnosis increased (65.4%, 63.2%, 64.2%, 45.9%, and 35.2% for intervals of <12 months, 12-23 months, 24-35 months, ≥36 months, and no previous endoscopy, respectively, P<0.01). Cancer-related mortality was significantly lower for a 3-year interval of endoscopy (P<0.001). Conclusions: A 3-year interval of endoscopic screening reduces gastric-cancer-related mortality, particularly in cases of UD histology.
