  • Peer-to-Peer content delivery technology recently begins to be used not only for file sharing applications such as eDonkey but also for every kind of content services. KBS, a broadcasting company in Korea, is aggressively driving to apply Peer-to-Peer technology to KBS's commercial internet video service but we found that there are two big huddles. First, end users may refuse to share their own resources for KBS's cost reduction using Peer-to-Peer content delivery technology. Second, it may cause that the number of free-riders increases and the efficiency of the overall system would fall. From commercial service provider's perspective, we have to avoid that end users have unfavorable impressions on the service and the usefulness of Peer-to-Peer technology decreases. In order to overcome these problems, we studied how to offer incentive to end users and how much incentive would be reasonable, and then applied the result to real service for verification.

  • Mobile nodes are change their point of attachment dynamically such as networks deployed in aircraft, boats, trains, and cars. These mobile nodes move together and share the same nobility properties. Therefore, this paper addresses an efficient location management scheme based on collaboration of mobile nodes to a mobile network. We propose a scheme that combines multicast routing with Mobile IPv6 to support mobile network in the internet. This paper also tests the usefulness of our proposed method using analytical models and compares the results with our scheme and HMIPv6(Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) and Network Mobility(NEMO).

  • As the generalization of using computer and the internet, most people, who would decide the acceptance of new information technology (IT), may consider the current systems which have been used so far. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationships between technology acceptance model (TAM) and the switching costs which may incur during switching from the current system into another on. For this purpose, this study suggested the hypotheses, in which continuity cost and setup cost, two types of switching costs in IT adoption, would influence perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use respectively. Moreover, the moderation effects of system types, hedonic system and utilitarian system, on the relationships between switching costs and TAM, were also suggested as the hypotheses. In order to prove the validity of the hypotheses, two groups were surveyed. Before surveying, to the one group who were believed to be a user of 'Cyworld', a new blog service, Naver Blog, was introduced. Similarly, to another group, Google Docs was introduced. The analysis by Partial Least Square (PLS) approach showed that most hypotheses in this study were statistically supported.

  • With the advancements of the Internet and CAD data translation techniques, more CAD models are transferred from a CAD system to another through the network and interoperability is getting a common word in the CAD industry. However, when a CAD model is translated for an incompatible system into a neutral format such as STEP or IGES, its precious feature information is lost. When this feature information is lost, the advantage of feature based modeling is not valid any longer, and modification for the model is purely dependent on geometric and topological manipulations. However, the capabilities of the existing methods to modify these feature-independent models are limited as the modification involves a topological change in the model. To address this issue, we present a volumetric method to modify the solid models in neutral format. First, this method selectively decomposes the solid model to separate the portion of interest called feature volume. Next, the designer modifies the feature volume without concerning a topological change. Finally, the feature volume is united with the original solid model to complete the modification process. The results of test cases are presented to attest the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • Due to changes in information technology and the information environment, portal services, including library service, which systematically provides information needed on the Internet have become popular in our daily lives. In light of that, this study, in order to enhance our understanding on portal services, examines and analyzes Dibrary, the National Digital Lirary, portal services including main portal, regional information, policy information, multicultural information, the information for the handicapped, and the Dibrary blogs. Accordingly, the emphasis has been put on decency, accuracy, usefulness/user-friendliness, and publicity/promotion for the diffusion and activation of Dibrary portal services.

  • Current Internet system of the entrance exam information to the university that is depending on searching key to solve the overloaded problem in the network and DB server or other tools to support HTML edit, haven't satisfied user's wants by supplying uniformed searching system. So this thesis will establish EEIS(Entrance Examination Information System) to prevent database overload phenomena when many users request a great amount of data at the same time and improve the decrease of speed and overload problem in DB server. EEIS playa role of bridge between outside client and DB server by placing VVS(Virtual View Server) between web server and DB server. By that method this system give users several usefulness in convenience and variety by supplying realtime data searching function to user. EEIS also give inner system manager more efficiency and speed in control the management system by solving those problem. This system is design and implementation to satisfy user's desire and give them more convenience and bring up the confidence of university that adopt this system at the end.

  • As the usefulness of internet is kept changing more productively with web 1.0, web 2.0 usage of XML is also increasing very rapidly. In XML environment the most critical function is the ability of effective retrieval of useful information from XML repository. That makes the W3C XQuery more popular XQuery has very complicated structure as a query language due to the semi_structured nature of XML. FLOWOR, which stand for, let. where, order by, return, is the most commonly used expression in XQuery. In this paper we suggest the methods to handle XQuery FLWOR on relational environments. We also analyze and evaluate our approach to prove its correctness.

  • Everyday, technology is evolved in many different disciplines. Computer and smart devices revolution take part of the evolved technology that continuously promising new features. Moreover, social networks services recently become widely popular, which most people in the world become a social-network-fond. In addition to the revolution of the evolved technology and social networks services, ubiquitousness is taking significant part in our daily lives. Although, there are many e-learning systems already existed, which use Internet technology along with a Web technology to provide education in various ways, in despite of that, there is no such existing system exploits the usefulness of smart devices along with the legacy of the online social networks besides the power of the ubiquitous computing technology. Therefore, we propose a smart device application, which fills the gap that has been missing in the recent contemporary era. It is an application that runs on smart devices particularly Smartphone devices; we call our system “Smart Device based Social E-learning System(SDES)”. We have preliminary implemented our system on Android OS. In this paper, we intentionally propose the system in order to ease the way people learn, to provide interactive accessibility in our system, and to utilize the advanced technology more wisely.

  • Although many employees in the logistics/small package express companies are using mobile information systems. there is little research on the individual impacts of adopting mobile information systems in the distribution area. Therefore, this study attempts to develop the research model to evaluate individual impacts on using mobile information systems which are frequently utilized in logistics and small package express companies. In order to propose the research model, we attempt to incorporate technology acceptance model and IS success model to evaluate individual impacts on using mobile information systems. To verify the research model, we collected 225 data from staffs who have mobile IT system in distribution and logistics area. We also verified the validity and reliability by using SEM(structural equation modeling). As a results, we found that system use, cognitive judgement and attitude can be the key variables to improve individual impacts by using mobile information system. We further found that perceived usefulness can be ere of the Imp factors to improve the individual impacts. Based on out findings, we can understand that this research model can provide a deeper understanding of individual impacts of mobile information systems.
