Data were collected by a self-rating questionnaire including demographic data, a Korean version of Internet addiction, impulsivity and self-efficacy. Result: Impulsivity and self-efficacy according to Internet addition were significantly different (F=22.909. p<.001). There were significant correlations between Internet addiction and impulsivity (r=.280. p<01), between Internet addiction and self-efficacy(r=-.288. p<.01) and between impulsivity and self-efficacy (r=-.665. p<.01). Conclusion: These results indicate that the more addictive to the Internet the more impulsive and the less self-efficacious. Therefore, further studies are needed to generalize these results and examine the effects of Internet addiction more broadly.

  • The needs of strategic approach toward the usage of the Internet in corporate context are increasingly important as digital economy changes the way of doing business. However, companies are not easily taking the opportunity since the strategic use of the Internet is difficult because of the conflicts in distribution, business process, organization structure, etc. The Internet strategy applicable to companies in a generic context is proposed by identifying the CSFs (Critical Sucess Factors) in exploiting the potential of the internet. CSFs are derived by the previous study and case analysis, from which two most important factors are chosen based on a survey. In the survey, the ranking of the significance of the 8 CFSs from the 25 cases is questioned to the internet experts. Then a $2{\times}$2$ matrix is designed to find the optimal area for a company to be successful in the Internet usage. The strategy suggested here appears to be the shifting strategy in order to be in the optimal area in using the Internet strategically.

  • It is a well-known fact that Internet addiction adversely affects mental health of adolescents. This study was conducted to determine whether there is a difference in the experience of depression according to the level of Internet addiction. Participants included 73,238 middle and high school students from the Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBWS) conducted in 2010. The level of Internet addiction and the experience of depression were assessed using self-diagnosis questionnaires. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to identify the association between Internet addiction and depression. High-risk and potential-risk Internet users were 1.61 times and 1.21 times more likely to experience depression, respectively, than normal Internet users. The increase in depression was more significant in girls students. Acknowledging the connection between Internet addiction and depression, the problem should be tackled from the perspective of school health by providing systematic Internet addiction prevention and treatment programs.

  • IPSEC (Internet Protocol Security) is a network layer security protocol that is designed to support secure TCP/IP environment over the Internet considering flexibility, scalability, and interoperability. IPSEC primarily supports security among hosts rather than users unlike the other security protocols. Recently, IPSEC is emphasized as one of the important security infrastructures in the NGI (Next Generation Internet). It also has suitable features to implement VPN (Virtual Private Network) efficiently and its application areas are expected to grow rapidly. In this paper, the basic concepts and related standard documents of IPSEC will be introduced.

  • The introduction of the Internet in homes had an effect on family systems. The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in family systems due to Internet use in South Korea. This study classified the types of changes in the family systems and analyzes the characteristics of each type. Systems approach provides the theoretical framework for this study. First, the cluster analysis demonstrated the three types of the changes in the family subsystems due to housewives' Internet use: 'positive changes', 'negative changes', and 'no changes'. Second, there are different characteristics among the types of changes according to demographic, Internet-related, and intra-system dynamic factors. These results suggest several implications for public policy. To utilize the Internet as a useful tool to improve the quality of family life, housewives must have the ability to control the Internet use and to manage their resources. In order to enhance their abilities of using the Internet, it may be necessary for the government to provide public educational programs for housewives.

  • Recently, Internet Telephony has become increasingly popular in telecommunication industry. However, previous research on Internet Telephony has focused on analyzing specific Internet Telephony solutions, identifying the Internet Telephony movement itself. The research on prediction models about Internet Telephony adoption has been minimal. The main propose of this study is to develop models for predicting transition intention from using traditional telephones to using Internet Telephony. To do so, this study uses data mining methods to analyze demands in the IT communications market and to provide management strategies for Internet telephony providers. Especially this study uses discriminant analysis, logistic regression, classification tree, and neural nets to develop the prediction models for the Internet Telephony adoption. The models are compared with each other and a superior model is chosen.
