  • The purpose of this study is to examine the roles and costume of Sodong as shown in the illustration of Choseon Delegation to Japan. Results of the study can be described as below. First, as shown in the illustration, Sodong played roles as Tongin and dancer. As Tongin, Sodong provided services or made errands for his seniors. In the other role, while, Sodong danced to comfort his seniors and show dances of Choseon to Japanese people. Second, Sodong wore Kwaecha over Sochangeui throughout his march with the delegation as Tongin. This is probably because the two clothes made him feel convenient and easily active. In both 1700s and 1800s, meanwhile, Sodong also wore Jikryeong and Cheolik. Third, Sodong wore Kwaecha over Sochangeui, or Danryeong and Nansam all the time when he navigated together with the delegation. When passing through Tsusima into the Japanese mainland, which meant starting international exchanges between Choseon and Japan, Sodong sticked to formality to the utmost by wearing Danryeong and Nansam. Fourth, Sodong wore Kwaecha over Sochangeui when he performed as dancer. The two clothes were also worn by Mudong during outdoor banquets in Choseon at that time. In addition, it is thought that Sodong wore Jikryeong, Danryeong and Nansam like when he marched or navigated together with Choseon Delegation.

  • In 1607 a delegation was dispatched from Chosun to Japan (under the condition that prisoners of war were returned) to restore the destroyed relationship between the nations due to a war and to restore economic profits. This delegation later on became a delegation representing faith in each other. It contributed greatly to the Korea-Japan cultural exchanges in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was also a cornerstone for the exchange of Korea's distinguished studies as well as medical technology and Japan's results of international trade such as sweet potatoes, pepper, and tobacco. This thesis is one that discusses the study of documents produced during this process.

  • Since 1993, Korea Institute of Design Promotion has carried out Design Promotion Comprehensive Plan every 4 years and due to the institutes founding purpose the plans are mainly focused on enhancing quality of merchandise goods. However due to social and economic changes now enhancing quality of cultural living through design is becoming important as ever. The purpose of this paper is to find our characteristics and changes in design policies and programs to diffuse design culture in the plans. The researchers have inquired proceeding studies on cultural and design policies and also looked into cases that were carried out in Europe to diffuse design culture. By analyzing EU's Cultural Policies four means were found: Education, Exchange, Participation, and Sharing. The results are as follows. First, in the beginning main focus was to educate people about the importance of design and what good design is, in bureaucratic ways. In the Secondary plan, reaching out to local regions begin to show in order to diffuse design culture that was and still is mainly centered around Seoul. Thirdly plan shows more exchanges but not only limited to domestic regions but international wide. In the Forth plan, participation programs and those engaging design to solve social problems are shown but still not much attention is payed to sharing.

  • In this paper, an improved maintenance scheduling approach suitable for the competitive environment is proposed by taking account of profits and costs of generation companies and the formulated combinatorial optimization problem is solved by using Reactive Tabu search (RTS). In competitive power markets, electricity prices are determined by the balance between demand and supply through electric power exchanges or by bilateral contracts. Therefore, in decision makings, it is essential for system operation planners and market participants to take the volatility of electricity price into consideration. In the proposed maintenance scheduling approach, firstly, electricity prices over the targeted period are forecasted based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and also a newly proposed aggregated bidding curve. Secondary, the maintenance scheduling is formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem with a novel objective function by which the most profitable maintenance schedule would be attained. As an objective function, Opportunity Loss by Maintenance (OLM) is adopted to maximize the profit of generation companies (GENCOS). Thirdly, the combinatorial optimization maintenance scheduling problem is solved by using Reactive Tabu Search in the light of the objective functions and forecasted electricity prices. Finally, the proposed maintenance scheduling is applied to a practical test power system to verify the advantages and practicability of the proposed method.

  • The study aims to investigate women's clothes described in Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang in Nara period of Japan to gain a clear understanding of the clothes of the ruling class women at that time. Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang was made in Nara period of Japan when Japan sent envoys and students to Tang, a dynasty of China, to acquire advanced civilization. At that time, Japan also fostered a strong international culture through the exchanges with neighboring nations. With this inflow of continental culture, Japan was dramatically advanced politically, socially, and culturally. The analysis of the clothes of Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang showed that she had her hair decorated with Bogye. She wore Ungyeon, Baeja, Daesui, and Tongsui as for her upper garment and Gun, Seub, and Peseul as for her lower garment. She also wore Bidae and Youngeon and put on Geummal and Seok on her feet. Overall, these results suggested that she wore Chinese style clothes. The clothes of Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sangwere very similar to formal dresses of high class women described in Yangroryeong. Some of her clothes were not shown in Yangroryeong because those clothes were added after Yangroryeong. Another reason may be due to the fact that generalized clothes could be worn even though those clothes were not described in the dress code. In conclusion, the clothes described in Gilsang-Cheonyeo-Sang suggest that they were based on the dress code of Nara Period of Japan while there were also some variations due to the cultural circumstances at that time.

  • $\ulcorner$Xixiangji[West chamber]$\lrcorner$ is one of the most popular Chinese dramas which was first translated into Korean by Chung-hee Kim in 1811. $\ulcorner$Dongsanggi[East chamber]$\lrcorner$is a Korean drama which was written in Chinese by Ok Lee in 1791. It adopted the form of Chinese traditional drama, $\ulcorner$xixianji$\lrcorner$. 1 think theses are very interesting examples which show how we accepted Chinese dramas through translation or modification and created our own dramas in the past. 1 quoted their names in the title because it is thought that they can represent the direction of the stream of cultural exchange between two countries in the past. The direction has recently changed. Han stream[Korean cultural effect] has become very powerful in whole Asia in last 10 years. Cultural exchange between Korea and China has been very steady and popular over 2000 years before the 20th century We used to have cultural identity by using Chinese character and accept many of the cultural aspects from China. Now, we are trying to reestablish the relationship which has been cut off for about 50years. In this paper I tried to retrospect the results of cultural exchange in the past and argue about the problems we are now facing by examining interchange or acceptance of the Chinese drama including translations and theatrical performances. 1 also tried to suggest the diverse ways of mutual exchange to uplift the cultural level of two countries.

  • Ship STEP is the international standard for the exchange of ship modeling data between heterogeneous systems. It is expected that STEP AP218 can be used for seamless data exchange between various CAD/CAM/CAE systems used in the shipbuilding design process. Although the conformance assessment for standards would maximize the performance and confidence about data exchanges, most research has been directed toward interoperability testing. ISO SC4/TC184 only provides the method for conformance testing, and it can be used with test cases on application protocols. Even though standards have been defined for conformance assessment and testing, there is no organization or association. CAD vendors have focused on interoperability testing for evaluation of the performance of their systems. In this paper, the conformance testing criteria for AP218 have been developed with abstract test cases of ship structures. The requested STEP translator was also reviewed with a developed item pool of testing criteria. The criteria methodology would be a guideline for the development of translators and interfaces. The item pool method of testing criteria for conformance assessment would increase performance and efficiency of data translators for Ship STEP and other standards.

  • In this paper, a protection system using a Multi-Agent concept for power distribution networks is proposed. Every digital over current relay(OCR) is developed as an agent by adding its own intelligence, self-tuning and communication ability. The main advantage of the Multi-Agent concept is that a group of agents work together to achieve a global goal which is beyond the ability of each individual agent. In order to cope with frequent changes in the network operation condition and faults, an OCR agent, suggested in this paper, is able to detect a fault or a change in the network and find its optimal parameters for protection in an autonomous manner considering information of the whole network obtained by communication between other agents. Through this kind of coordination and information exchanges, not only a local but also a global protective scheme is completed. Simulations in a simple distribution network show the effectiveness of the suggested protection system.

  • This paper investigates the relationships between bank credit and trade credit with profit of 130 agricultural firms listed on Vietnam's stock exchanges during the period 2008-2014. Using the GMM approach, the paper reveals inverted-U shaped (∩) relationships between bank credit and trade credit with profit. Specifically, the optimal threshold of bank credit and trade credit to total assets of the firms are 0.4173 and 0.2425, respectively. The findings mean that if the ratio of bank credit to total assets exceeds the benchmark of 0.4173, firms should consider restructuring debts to get them back to the benchmark. To do so, firms should withdraw from those business fields that are not of their profession, in addition to liquiditizing unused assets to repay debts and not using short-term credit to invest in long-term projects. Firms may use trade credit wisely when other sources of finance are lacking. In concrete terms, firms can increase trade credit use if the ratio of trade credit to total assets is below 0.2425. Yet, if this ratio goes beyond this benchmark, firms should get back to this benchmark, e.g., keeping a suitable amount of inventory. The implications of this study is to boost firm growth in the proposed way.
