  • 1. For the purpose of analyzing the plan of new reclamation project and its evaluation, actual studies for the existing polders are required. 2. The variations of the salt content of soil, yields and staus of its plantation have been studied for six areas reclaimed in relatively recent years, including Kangwha, Daechon, Chopo, Eushin, Kwangyang and Chinkyo. 3. The annual yields from the project were only 52 percent in the first year as compared with kilograms per 10 a. in the Hachirogata polder in Japan. 4. Such a low productivity in the existing polders in Korea is chiefly by the high ground water table, unfavourable conditions of subdrainage in the root zone, and saline damages of existing high salt content. That is because the depth of drainage ditches is too shallow and layout distance between every drainage ditches is also too long. 5. In order to overcom such a uncertiainties, the drainagedistance suitable for these areas has been Calculated by using the Donnans formula. Applying to the formula, drainage facilities are so densie that land use capability may be decreased. 6. For the purpose of ensuring the effective desalinization and high land use capability, feasible interval to establish the culvert has been studied in accordance with both formulas of Donnan and Hoogan. 7. In order to accomplish the early desalinization in both areas of new reclamation or existing polders, the problems of internal drainages should be resolved. for this puprose in addition to the endeavour of the personnels actually engaged in such works. The actual support of the related agencies for financial assitance is required.

  • The topographical depressions in urban areas, the lack in drainage capability, sewage backward flow, road drainage, etc. cause internal inundation, and the increase in rainfall resulting from recent climate change, the rapid urbanization accompanied by economic development and population growth, and the increase in an impervious area in urban areas deteriorate the risk of internal inundation in the urban areas. In this study, the vulnerability of internal inundation in urban areas is analyzed and SWMM model is applied into Oncheoncheon watershed, which represents urban river of Busan, as a target basin. Based on the results, the representative storm sewers in individual sub-catchments is selected and the risk of vulnerability to internal inundation due to rainfall in urban streams is analyzed. In order to analyze the risk and vulnerability of internal inundation, capacity is applied as an index indicating the volume of a storm sewer in the SWMM model, and the risk of internal inundation is into 4 steps. For the analysis on the risk of internal inundation, simulation results by using a SMMM model are compared with the actual inundation areas resulting from localized heavy rain on July 7, 2009 at Busan and comparison results are analyzed to prove the validity of the designed model. Accordingly, probabilistic rainfall at Busan was input to the model for each frequency (10, 20, 50, 100 years) and duration (6, 12, 18, 24hr) at Busan. In this study, it suggests that the findings can be used to preliminarily alarm the possibility of internal inundation and selecting the vulnerable zones in urban areas.

  • This paper explains the contribution of international learning to the business performance through strengthening the international learning capability of the organization. This is consistent with the previous literature that the organization's international experience is an important determinant of the international performance and the learning capability, strengthened through organizational learning, contributes to the business performance. In addition, this paper analyzes the characteristics of international learning of a venture business, which has actively pursued internationalization, by categorizing exploitation and exploration. An important result is that the small-sized venture firm, which is weak in internal resources compared with large firms, utilizes partner network more actively to accumulate international experience by exploration. We can then confirm that this international experience strengthens learning capability and gives positive effects on the business performance.

  • In this paper, we propose that investigating the relationship between the dynamic capacity and the technological innovation performance of firms. Based on the previous research, we divide the dynamic capacity into the adaptive capacity, absorption capacity, and productive capacity. Among the 3,400 companies responding to the technical statistics of SMEs in 2011, we performed multiple regression analysis with 2,807 except service industries. As a result, the absorptive capacity and productive capacity have a positive effect on the technological innovation performance at the 99% level, whereas the adaptive capacity has a negative effect on the technological innovation performance at the 95% level. The implications of this study are as follows. First, in order to improve the performance of technological innovation, it is important to strengthen the absorption capacity and productive capacity of companies. Absorption capacity shows that it is important to secure sufficient R & D manpower and R & D cost to utilize internal knowledge as well as to bring outside knowledge into the capacity to assimilate and utilize external knowledge. Second, the ability to commercialize a product is a capability to commercialize a technology that has succeeded in development, showing that the technology development organization must have the capability of post-development commercialization as well as technology development. Finally it shows the negative effect on adaptation capacity and innovation performance. Companies actively utilize external sources of information in order to respond to and adapt to the rapidly changing business environment. However, the results of this study show that a strategic approach is needed to use external sources of information and technology development resources. Especially as the use of external information resources and technology development resources increases.
