  • In this paper, performance analysis of mobile phone with internal antenna for PCS band was carried out. The radiation patterns for antenna and mobile phone with internal antenna were simulated by using 3D simulation program, HFSS and SEMCAD. Radiation pattern variation was observed according to installation of LED circuit and ground pattern and by using simulation radiation pattern was improved. And radiation patterns of mobile phones with internal and external antennas were measured by using for field measurement system and chamber. Measured radiation pattern for mobile phone with internal antenna shows good agreement with simulation result. And the radio sensitivities of mobile phones with internal and external antennas were measured by using Agilent E5515C and chamber and compared. The measured radio sensitivity of mobile phone with internal antenna shows proper performances comparable to other model with external antenna. Measured result shows that the difference on averaged co-polar radio sensitivity is 0.12 ㏈.

  • We in order to use WLAN communication device planned wireless USB dongle internal antenna of 2.4 GHz/5.8 GHz band. So it uses square patch dual-wideband and quality is satisfactory and it designed print folded monopole antenna of the shape which is simple. The thickness of the antenna was fed by a $50{\Omega}$ coaxial cable feeding 1mm dielectric constant 4.4 FR4 substrate was used. The overall size of the antenna is $20mm{\times}50mm$. So the internal antenna is suitable. Measurement results of the fabricated antenna, the return loss of more than 10 dB in the two bands could be obtained. Radiation pattern has a maximum gain of 3.75 dBi value.

  • An internal antenna for small mobile systems is proposed to support the DVB-H system. It consists of two antenna elements, which are a folded planar monopole for DVB-H and PIFA for GSM/DCS/PCS, and a meander line and RF cable are used to increase the ground plane. Experimental results of the antenna are presented.

  • In this paper, meander-line planar monopole antenna mounted on PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN handset for SAR reduction is designed. Frequency characteristics and SAR value optimized with various design parameters are analyzed and designed. Designed internal monopole antenna mounted on the handset is simulated. The 1 g and 10 g peak average SARs of internal monopole antenna are 0.656 and 0.387 W/kg respectively. And internal monopole antenna and external monopole antenna attached on the handset are tested. As a result, internal monopole antenna 1 g and 10 g peak average SARs are 0.686 and 0.356 W/kg. And external monopole antenna's results are 1.33 and 0.812 W/kg, respectively. So internal monopole antenna has a about $50\%$ SAR reduction in comparison with external monopole antenna.

  • In this paper, we propose the internal mobile antenna for TDMB and KPCS. The proposed antenna is made of different dielectric substrate and it has small size ($45{\times}8{\times}8\;mm$, about 2.8 cc) for mobile device. TDMB antenna is designed spiral structure that makes maximum current for each cell and KPCS antenna is PIFA that is usually used for internal antenna. In order to compensate length of resonance TDMB antenna has a large inductor above 100 nH. In this case, the inductor isolate KPCS signal at TDMB by cutting high frequency. Also the antenna has good isolation because TDMB radiator is parasitic element in KPCS band. We simulated the antenna by using CST microwave studio and measured performance of the antenna in anechoic chamber Proposed antenna has $-6{\sim}-14\;dBi$ gain for TDMB and $-3.5{\sim}-5\;dBi$ gain for KPCS.

  • KPCS internal antenna in this paper, is designed and fabricated using the theory based on the folded monopole antenna. I propose folded monopole internal antenna which has high gain low profile structure with easy installation into the handset of mobile phone. Design frequency is 1.8 GHz that is a center frequency of Korea PCS frequency band, and the impedance variances due to change of antenna structure as a length and width are simulated. Measurements show that input VSWR range under 2:1 is 1.72 - 1.88 GHz, and radiated H-plane pattern is omnidirectional under passive state. Active sensitivities and output power of phone applied antenna are $-105\;{\sim}\;-108\;dBm$ and $22.5\;{\sim}\;23.6\;dBm$ max., respectively.

  • Recently, although demands for an internal antenna applicable to DVB-H handhold terminals are increased, there are many difficulties in designing the antenna due to the long wavelength of $430{\sim}640mm$ and the wide bandwidth of $470MHz{\sim}702MHz$. Since the proposed DVB-H band antenna can be analyzed as an SDA (Supported structure Defined Antenna), it is designed by combination of the folded monopole radiator which has a wideband characteristics and the wing-type element which can reduce the resonant frequency effectively. The DVB-H band antenna has VSWR of 4 and obtains a good gain from -5 to 2 dBi, when it is built-in the mobile handset.

  • In this paper, an ultra-wideband internal antenna for use in mobile applications is proposed. The proposed antenna has symmetrical bi-arm structures printed on the top and bottom of the substrate, and it occupies a compact area of 10 mm ${\times}$ 10 mm ${\times}$ 1 mm. The designed antenna has an impedance bandwidth from 3 GHz to 12 GHz and near omnidirectional radiation patterns over the frequency band of interest. The group delay between two antennas fabricated using the proposed design is less than 0.8 ns, and the maximum gain variation is about 3.16 dB.

The proposed antenna has a small volume of $38{\times}8.5{\times}5\;mm^3$, ground size is $100{\times}60\;mm^2$, and covers the GSM900 (Global System for Mobile communications : 880-960 MHz), DCS (Digital Communications System : 1710-1880 MHz), K-PCS (Korea-Personal Communications Service : 1750-1870 MHz), US-PCS (US Personal Communications Service : 1850-1990 MHz), Bluetooth (2400-2483 MHz), Wibro (2300-2390 MHz) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network : 2400-2483.5 MHz) bands. The measured peak gains of the implemented antenna are 1.15 dBi at 920 MHz, 3.58 dBi at 1795 MHz, 3.46 dBi at 1810 MHz, 2.91 dBi at 1920 MHz, 5.18 dBi at 2345 MHz, 3.37 dBi at 2442 MHz.

  • This paper suggests the PIFA structure modified antenna in which short-circuit plate is located between planar element and ground plane, in order to solve the problem of narrow band of existing internal antenna, PIFA. It is also suggested that internal antenna has the perturbation in the patch to broaden the frequency bandwidth. It is possible that the antenna is installed into the mobile telephone with a low profile condition(h=0.015 λ) to use internally, and acquired desired bandwidth(5.2 %) through double resonance structure, remodeling the PIFA that is already well-known as an internal antenna. This paper investigated how characteristic is affected by the feeding point(Yf, Zf), short strip plate(Zs), short strip width(Ws), perturbation width(w), length(d), short plate height(h), dielectric($\varepsilon$$\_$r/) to be slim type antenna. It is compared with existing PIFA bandwidth, and is suggested pattern as the H.E plane. It is simulated using the Microwave Studio of the CST Inc. based on FIM(Finite Integration Method) method and analyzed antenna characteristic following the variation each parameters. The result proved the practical use of PIFA antenna by comparing the measured and simulated data of the antenna.
