  • An isolated dislocation of the intermediate cuneiform bone is a rare midfoot injury. This paper reports a case of a 60 year old man who fell from a height with his foot in the plantar flexed position. An isolated dorsal dislocation of the intermediated cuneiform was confirmed. Good results were obtained after an open reduction and internal fixation with a Lisfranc screw and Kirschner wire.

  • Mathematical argument has been given much attention in the research literature as a mediating construct between reasoning and proof. However, there have been relatively less efforts made in the research that examined the nature of empirical arguments represented in textbooks and how students perceive them as proofs. Cases of point include Intermediate Value Theorem [IVT] and Maximum-Minimum theorem [MMT] in grade 11 in Korea. In this study, using Toulmin's framework (1958), the author analyzed the substance of the empirical arguments provided for both MMT and IVT to draw comparisons between the nature of datum, claims, and warrants among empirical arguments offered in textbooks. Also, an online survey was administered to learn about how students view as proofs the empirical arguments provided for MMT and IVT. Results indicate that nearly half of students tended to accept the empirical arguments as proofs. Implications are discussed to suggest alternative approaches for teaching MMT and IVT.

  • In this paper, the effect of impulsive line on the propagation of shear waves in non-homogeneous elastic layer is investigated. The rigidity and density in the intermediate layer is assumed to vary quadratic as functions of depth. The dispersion equation is obtained by using the Fourier transform and Green's function technique. The study ends with the mathematical calculations for transmitted wave in the layer. These equations are in complete agreement with the classical results when the non-homogeneity parameters are neglected. Various curves are plotted to show the effects of non-homogeneities on shear waves in the intermediate layer.

  • Concrete used for radwaste container should have excellent properties such as mechanical strength, water-tightness, durability, etc. In order to improve such properties of ordinary portland cement concrete, superplasticizer, steel fiber, and/or epoxy resin were added to ordinary portland cement concrete respectively. Various concrete specimens were prepared and the physical properties of each concrete specimen were tested. From the experimental results, the properties of steel fiber and epoxy resin reinforced concrete were proved to be better qualified than others for low-and intermediate-level radwaste container.

  • The structure of the magnetic funnel element in the intermediate polar is considered in terms of an important site for the X-ray absorption and the reemission of the X-ray as the optical light. In this paper the column density and the optical depth vary with the filling factor, which is introduced to characterize the structure of matter in the magnetic funnel element. The results of the energy dependence of the X-ray spectrum and the modulation depth of the X-ray light curve are discussed.

  • The intermediate of N'-nitrosonornicotine may bind to the guanine moiety of a G-C base pair. The hydrogen bond of the base pair may be broken and a new hydrogen bond can form between the intermediate and the guanine. It results in the "short" type of DNA repair.NA repair.

  • Radiation due to accretion from an accretion disc around the intermediate polars and photoabsorption of this radiation in the accretion funnel have been taken into account as a phenomenological model to study the physics of the magnetic funnel in the magnetic compact star. The first results show that such a model scenario can be used to estimate some parameters in these systems. Some constraints of this model regarding to the observational data of one intermediate polar, EX Hya, are also discussed.

  • We study theoretical aspects of one-dimensional cellular automata over GF(q), where q is a power of a prime. Some results about the characteristic polynomials of such cellular automata are given. Intermediate boundary cellular automata are defined and related to the more common null boundary cellular automata.

  • Peroxidase activity of cytochrome P-450 was examined using N, N-dimethylaniline (NDA) as a substrate and cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) as an oxidant. The initial rates of the N-demethylation for varied concentrations of NDA (0.05-0.5 mM) by P-450 at different fixed concentrations of CHP (0.02-0.2 mM) were determined. The results suggest that P-450 proceeds its peroxidative reaction by the rapid equilibrium random bi bi mechanism to form a ternary complex with substrate and oxidant as an active intermediate.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of the competitiveness of intermediate goods and enterprise's core competency on customer value and enterprise performance. And it is the first time to investigate the intermediate product competitiveness with the variable of interest to recent corporate values and corporate customers with business performance by exploring their relationships. Intermediate products, which the competitiveness of products that target structure is introduced for the first time, and the relationships between intermediate goods competitive and product reliability, intermediate goods competitive and product innovation are studied in this paper. Further research on integral, modular, valuable, durability, by measuring parameters such as product innovation and product reliability are also conducted. Eight hypotheses are introduced for statistical hypothesis testing. Employees and typical intermediate products in electronic companies in China and South Korea are investigated. SPSS and AMOS models are applied to perform the statistical analysis. Analysis of the proposed models is fit to an acceptable level. Research results and limitations are discussed, and useful conclusions are drawn.
