Flat Plate structures subjected to lateral load are susceptible to the brittle failure, therefore deformability of plate-column connections should be ensured to resist against earthquake. However, according to previous study, existing experiments overestimate the deformability of connections and current design provision do not accurately explains them. In the present study, parametric study using nonlinear finite element analysis was performed. Based on the numerical results, seismic design method considering the deformability of connections was developed.

Differential shortening of vertical members in high-rise buildings affect other structural members that have to be considered such as horizontal members and exterior cladding. of many elements which affect the total amount of shortening, different loading history mainly comes from the different construction time. Shortening of 66 story concrete columns were investigated and compared according to the different construction time, little difference was found between the total shortening of interior and that of exterior column.

An accurate and rational analytical proposal for determining the shear strengths of interior beam-column joints is presented in this paper. The proposed equation is derived using a compatiblity aided truss model theory. The accuracy of the proposed equation was checked by comparing calculated shear strength of joints with experimental results reported papers in literature. The comparison showed that the proposed equation predicted the experimental shear strength of joints with reasonable agreement.

An experimental investigation was conducted to study the behavior of high-strength RC wide beam-column joints with slab subjected to reversed cyclic loads under constant axial load. Six half scale interior wide beam-column assemblies representing a portion of a frame subjected to simulated seismic loading were tested, including three specimens without slab and three specimens with slab. The primary variables were compressive strength of concrete( $f_{ck}$ =240, 500kgf/c $m^2$), the ratio of the column-to-beam flexural capacity( $M_{r}$=2$\Sigma$$M_{c}$$\Sigma$$M_{b}$ ; 0.77-2.26), extended length of the column concrete($\ell$$_{d}$ ; 0, 9.6, 30cm), ratio of the column-to-beam width(b/H ; 1.54, 1.67). Test results are shown that (1) the behavior of specimen using high-strength concrete satisfied the required minimum ductile capacity according to increase the compressive strength, (2). In the design of the wide beam-column joints, one should be consider the effects of slab stiffness which is ignored in the current design code and practice.ice.e.e.
This paper presents a computational study of column loss scenarios for typical multi-story steel buildings with perimeter moment frames and composite steel-concrete floors. Two prototype buildings (three-story and ten-story) were represented using three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models and explicit dynamic analysis was used to simulate instantaneous loss of a first-story column. Twelve individual column loss scenarios were investigated in the three-story building and four in the ten-story building. This study provides insight into: three-dimensional load redistribution patterns; demands on the steel deck, concrete slab, connections and members; and the impact of framing configuration, building height and column loss location. In the dynamic simulations, demands were least severe for perimeter columns within a moment frame, but the structures also exhibited significant load redistribution for interior column loss scenarios that had no moment connectivity. Composite action was observed to be an important load redistribution mechanism following column loss and the concrete slab and steel deck were subjected to high localized stresses as a result of the composite action. In general, the steel buildings that were evaluated in this study demonstrated appreciable robustness.
The widespread damage to steel Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs) in past major earthquakes have underscored the need to understand the nonlinear inelastic behaviour of such systems. To assess the seismic performance of steel MRF, it is essential to model the nonlinear force-deformation behaviour of beam to column joints. To determine the extent of inelasticity in a beam to column joint, nonlinear finite element analysis is generally carried out, which is computationally involved and demanding. In order to obviate the need of such elaborate analyses, a simplistic method to predict the force-deformation behaviour is required. In this study, a simple, mechanics driven, hand calculation method is proposed to obtain the forcedeformation behaviour of strong axis beam to column moment joints. The force-deformation behaviour for twenty-five interior and exterior beam to column joints, having column to beam strength ratios ranging from 1.2 to 10.99 and 2.4 to 22, respectively, have been obtained. The force-deformation behaviour predicted using the proposed method is compared with the results of finite element analyses. The results show that the proposed method predicts the force-deformation behaviour fairly accurately, with much lesser computational effort. Further the proposed method has been used to conduct Nonlinear Dynamic Time History Analyses of two benchmark frames; close correspondence of results obtained with published results establishes the usefulness and computational accuracy of the method.

In this study, to verify the structural performance of the Composite Joint System (CJS) hybrid structural model, a cyclic load test was performed and evaluated and verified through the test. To verify the structural performance of the CJS hybrid structural systems' joint and evaluate the seismic performance, four three-dimensional real-size specimens were developed with three internal beam-column specimens and one external beam-column specimen. The three interior column specimens were classified by different methods of joining the upper column and lower column, and the same bonding method as the primary specimen was used for the exterior column. The structural performances in terms of drift, strength, and energy dissipation capacity were analyzed and compared based on the experimental results. From the displacement-based loading experiment, all specimens showed a lateral drift of 4.0% without any significant strength drop and stable energy dissipation capacity.

The purpose of this study is to develop the mechanical anchorage, namely MAB-BOP (Mechanical Anchorage of 90$^{\circ}$ Hooked Bars with BOlt nad Plate) of the beam-column joint in precast concrete framed structures. Six specimens simulating typical interior beam-column joints were tested to investigate the mechanical characteristics of MAB-BOP. Of primary interest was the measurement of the slip of the anchored bar. Th load-slip curve obtained from this test were used to compare the mechanical performances of the different anchoring methods. Based on the test results, it was found that MAB-BOP showed sufficient anchoring strength capacity compared to 90$^{\circ}$ hooked bar method. So, MAB-BOP can be used as the anchoring methods of the reinforcing bars in PC beam-column joint.

This paper presents strut-and-tie models for predicting shear strength of RC interior beam-column joints considering the plastic hinge rotation of adjacent beams. On seismic design of frame system, it is controlled beams to occur plastic hinges and to be ductile so as to dissipate earthquake energy efficiently. The plastic hinge deformation of beams is used as analysis parameter in terms of strain of beam tensile bars at column face. The shear strengths of beam-column joints are evaluated by combining direct strut mechanism with truss mechanism. It is assumed that the max force transferred by direct strut mechanism is based on the strength of cracked concrete element, and that by truss mechanism is based on bond capacity.

In this study, the seismic performance of connections between filled composite beam (CG beams) and forming angle composite (FAC) column was experimentally evaluated. First, the bending tests were conducted on two CG beams and the axial tests were conducted on two FAC columns. Then, based on these preliminary test results, the cyclic loading test were performed on two interior connections between CG beam and FAC column. The main difference of two specimens is the plate shape of the CG beam. The test results showed that both specimens achieved the maximum story drift capacity over 0.04 radian which is required for special moment frame.
