The purpose of this study is to identify the color combination characteristic and to find out the characteristics of color tones in interior environments of Korean traditional houses. The results of the interior color combination analysis, it was revealed that contrast was the most dominant in architectural elements color. In the furniture, graduation, contrast and analogous harmony were mainly used. Single color harmony, analogous harmony, complementary harmony were the dominant color combination characteristics in interior accesories. Color tones of architectural elements were dull and light(pale, light grayish, light grayish) and color tones of furniture were dark and dull(dull, dark, dark grayish). However, interior accessories of an-bang show wide range of color tones raging vivid to dark tone, while sarang-bang accessories have tendency to soft, gray and dull tones. Therefore, the color tones of an-bang and sarang-bang elements show clear differences.

The purpose of this study is to develop the color palettes which are applicable to the color deign process for residential interiors according to the image types. To achieve this purpose, review of literature, questionnaire survey, and contents analysis were used. The major results of this study are as follows : The interior color images are clearly divided into 4 types, such as 'sophisticated', 'natural', 'gorgeousl', and 'casual'From the results of color palette, these 4 color image types are found to be very closely related to the interior image. It means that color image is very important element in Interior design process. Therefore, it is helpful to plan the color design according to the image types of interior color for good interior design.

The color planning in the hospital could influence the patient's improvement and lead the users from room to room. This study shows the data of present colors used in the hospitals. In order to get the data, we surveyed and analyzed the current color usages of the present interior of hospitals by the individual data from the projectors. The color scheme is analyzed by the rooms which are the common room, the ward, and the examination room along the projectors. It is also analyzed by the finishes of the hospitals, and is addressed to the present color scheme by the means of the hue value, and chroma. The color scheme in the interior design of hospital is an important factor for the hospital users. It has to more sincerely considered to use colors effectively in the hospital interior since people use their organ of vision greatly when they sense things. According to the data, this study is proposed to the effective color plan which is considered psychologically and emotionally about the human activities, in the interior design of hospitals for the future.

The purpose of this study is to find out the symbolic meaning of interior color a the chosun dynasty's upper class houses, and to review it from a point of view of the Western coloring harmony theory. from this study, the Oriental philosophy, the ideas of Confucianism, and the ethnic traits influenced the interior color of the Chosun Dynasty's upper class houses like an-bang or sarang-bang. The results indicated that main color, auxiliary color, accent color were harmonized with similar harmony by hue and with contrast harmony by value and chroma. Therefore, interior color image of Korean traditional houses should be applied to the various design field as well as modern interior desigv.

The interior space of the elementary classroom is very important not only as the teaming space for children but as the place for living. But the lack of understanding and the unplanned use of colors on the part of those concerned are indeed having adverse effects on children's leaning and activity. The purpose of this study is to suggest the way of interior color design in an elementary schools. To know the specific problems, this study researched and analyzed the interior color in the new elementary schools and investigated the color and the color arrangement preference of elementary school students. It is expected that the study results will be very helpful as the basic materials to consider in planing the interior color environment of the elementary classroom.

The importance of the community centers has been increased throughout the decade. With the interest on the centers, the quality of the architectural design of the centers have been much improved. But the importance of the interior design and color' design of the centers have been ignored. It is quite sure that the quality of the interior design impact on the satisfaction degree of the users. And color is the important element which can control the quality of the interior design economically. This study surveyed the three community centers in Seoul to investigate the status of the color usages. And to consider the user's need, and preference in color design, this study performs the questionnaire about the color image and color pallette preference of the users and interior design professionals. Mainly highly bright and low chromatic YR colors were used, giving rigid and monotonous atmosphere. The most preferred color image were warm, bright and secondly friendly, simple, soft, open. And the preference for pallette were various but we can find the difference of color preference and color combination type according to the user's group. As a result, This study proposes the basic guidelines for color design, such as ideal color Image and color and color combination type and color pallette. This proposals can be applied as a basic guideline for color design of the community centers.

The meaning of the color which has from modern interior space has played important role, i.e. color itself Is the concept creation tool as well as the unique expression sphere in field of interior space far away from fixed idea relevant to the existing color which was only simple decoration or secondary element in space. Thus, this current work expresses that the color is related with decoration effect as well as basic designed-conceptual work process including the space is formed. Furthermore, through the side-composition with color, It activates the various space aspect perceptually, which created the colorful environment in using lightning, reflection of glass and penetrated nature etc. The keyword on color concept is as like various aspects, third dimension, non-materiality and symbolical meaning. In addition, it provides the color space equipped with functionality and artistry capable to arouse the diverse sensual capacity to space users on default of color image language.

The purpose of this study was to examine the trends of recently published color studies and the characteristics of the methods and study tools used in the field of interior design and to suggest the desirable study tools which can be practically used in housing color plav. All the color studies published after 1990 were collected and categorized, and the representative studies in the contents and methodologies were selected. The study tools such as image categorizing words, evaluating adjectives, interior photos, color palettes, interior perspectives by computer system, models, etc. were most frequently used in housing color studies. By analyzing the characteristics and restricts of each tool, desirable methods which can be practically used in color plan situation were suggested.

The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of color preference(interior color preference and general. color preference) and preferred color scheme of the youth and the elderly. This is to proffer basic data for the color planning of the youth and the elderly. The color preference study was carried out with 50 color chips and preferred color scheme study was carried out with 25 interior color scheme. The research was conducted with the youth 50 sample and the elderly 51 sample. The analysis used spss program. The results of this study are as follows;1) In general color perference, most of the youth preferred PB and GY, and the elderly preferred RP. According to tone, two groups preferred pale, bright and vivid tone. 2) In interior color perference, most of the youth preferred GY and Y, and the elderly preferred PB and YR. According to tone, two groups preferred pale tone. Compared with general color perference and interior color perference, the youth had the similarity in preference profile, but the elderly didn', there was the outstanding difference in the perference of B, PB, P and RP. 3) In the preference of interior scheme, two groups preferred GY-analogous harmony1, G-analogous harmony1 and RP-analogous harmony1. According to age, the youth preferred Y-analogous harmony2 and PB-analogous harmony1, and the elderly preferred YR-analogous harmony1 and RP-complementary harmony1. On the whole, two groups more preferred analogous harmony than complementary harmony, and preferred type1(tone difference is slight). But there was the significant difference in analogous harmony of cool color.

The CMYK is the mathematical color model and the Musell system is an intuitive color model. CMYK color model needs to be proposed in the information age. These two models need to be integrated for convenience of color design. This paper deals with CMRK values, which have appeared in interior design, in association with the Munsell code. Firstly, color samples have been extracted from the cases of interior design. Secondly, the CMRK values of the color sample and the Munsell code have been found. Thirdly, relationship between the CMRK values has been formularized in comparison with the Whelan's color pallette by using the regression method. This paper concludes by proposing the formular which can be used to develope color palette in further research.
