An interface of a circular arc formed by two isotropic, homogeneous elastic materials is investigated. It is shown that L integral satisfies the conservation law for the interface if it is perfectly bonded, in frictionless contact or separated such as in a crack with the origin of the coordinate system being located at the center of the circular arc. The property of path independence of the L integral is applied to an interfacial crack problem, to obtain the stress intensity factors, where the interfacial crack is located along the arc of the circular inclusion embedded in infinite matrix. It is assumed here that the contact zone exist as in the model proposed by Comninou, thus removing the overlapping of the materials along the interface. Another example is shown for case of a circular interfacial crack in the matrix of finite size, where the stress intensity factors are determined by computing a value of the L integral numerically along the path far from the crack tip.
The transition of serrated grain boundary and its effect on liquation behavior in the simulated weld heat-affected zone (HAZ) have been investigated in a wrought Ni-based superalloy Alloy 263. Recently, the present authors have found that grain boundary serration occurs in the absence of adjacent coarse ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ particles or $M_{23}C_6$ carbides when a specimen is direct-aged with a combination of slow cooling from solution treatment temperature to aging temperature. The present study was initiated to determine the interdependence of the serration and HAZ property with a consideration of this serration as a potential for the use of a hot-cracking resistant microstructure. A crystallographic study indicated that the serration led to a change in grain boundary character as special boundary with a lower interfacial energy as those terminated by low-index {111} boundary planes. It was found that the serrated grain boundaries are highly resistant to boron enrichment, and suppress effectively grain coarsening in HAZ. Furthermore, the serrated grain boundaries showed a higher resistance to susceptibility of liquation cracking. These results was discussed in terms of a significant decrease in interfacial energy of grain boundary by the serration.

In the segmented-in-series solid-oxide fuel cells (SIS-SOFCs), fabrication techniques which use decalcomania paper have many advantages, i.e., an increased active area of the electrode; better interfacial adhesion property between the anode, electrolyte and cathode; and improved layer thickness uniformity. In this work, a cell-stack was fabricated on porous ceramic flattened tube supports using decalcomania paper, which consists of an anode, electrolyte, and a cathode. The anode layer was $40{\mu}m$ thick, and was porous. The electrolyte layers exhibited a uniform thickness of about $20{\mu}m$ with a dense structure. Interfacial adhesion was improved due to the dense structure. The cathode layers was $30{\mu}m$ thick with porous structure, good adhesion to the electrolyte. The ohmic resistance levels at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$ were measured, showing values of 1.49, 1.58 and $1.65{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$, respectively. The polarization resistances at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$ were measured to be 1.63, 2.61 and $4.17cm^2$, respectively. These lower resistance values originated from the excellent interfacial adhesion between the anode, electrolyte and cathode. In a two-cell-stack SOFC, open-circuit voltages(OCVs) of 1.915, 1.942 and 1.957 V and maximum power densities(MPD) of 289.9, 276.1 and $220.4mW/cm^2$ were measured at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively. The proposed fabrication technique using decalcomania paper was shown to be feasible for the easy fabrication of segmented-in-series flattened tube SOFCs.
To reduce the imbalance of impedance matching between the magnetic metal nanowires and free space, $Fe/TiO_2$ core/shell nanowire arrays with different diameters were fabricated in the templates of anodic aluminum oxide membranes by electrodeposition. The influences of the microstructure on the microwave absorption properties of the $Fe/TiO_2/Al_2O_3$ composites were studied by the transmission/reflection waveguide method. It was demonstrated experimentally that both the interfacial polarization and the diameter of the $Fe/TiO_2$ core/shell nanowires have critical effects on the microwave absorption properties. We also investigated the angle dependence of the microwave absorption properties. Due to the interfacial polarization and associated relaxation, the $Fe/TiO_2/Al_2O_3$ composites exhibited optimal microwave absorption properties when microwave propagation direction was accordant with the axis of the nanowires. Finally, we managed to obtain an optimal reflection loss of below -10 dB (90% absorption) over 10.2-14.8 GHz, with a thickness of 3.0 mm and the minimum value of -39.4 dB at 11.7 GHz.

The interfacial adhesion strength is very important in $SiO_x$ deposited PC film for the barrier enhanced polycarbonate (PC) flexible substrate. In this study, PC films were treated by undercoating, UV/$O_3$ and low temperature plasma and then the effect of physical and chemical surface modifications on the interfacial adhesion strength between PC film and $SiO_x$ barrier layer were studied. It was found that untreated PC film shows significantly low interfacial adhesion strength due to the smooth surface and low surface free energy of PC. Low temperature plasma treatments resulted in the increase of both surface roughness and surface free energy due to etching and the appearance of polar molecules on the PC surface. However, UV/$O_3$ treatment only shows the increase of surface free energy by developed polar molecules on the surface. These surface modifications caused the enhancement of surface interfacial strength between PC film and $SiO_x$ barrier. In the case of undercoating, it was found that the increase of surface interfacial strength was achieved by adhesion between various acrylic acid on acrylate coated surface and $SiO_x$ without increase of polar surface energy. In addition, the barrier property is also improved by organic-inorganic hybrid multilayer structure.

The fiber-reinforced endodontic posts were prepared using a photocurable resin and a glass fiber. The mechanical property of the posts increased with increasing density of glass fiber and the micro-pores in the post were removed by a vacuum impregnation process. To improve the interfacial adhesion between glass fiber and polymer, silane coupling agent was used. The surface treatment of glass fiber increased the surface wettability of resing on glass fiber and increased the adhesion property with resin, consequently improved the mechanical property of posts.
The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of sorbitan laurate SP 20 surfactant in this paper was near $7.216{\times}10^{-4}mol/L$ and the surface tension at CMC was about 26.0 mN/m, which showed higher CMC and lower surface tension than those of octylphenol ethoxylate octylphenol ethoxylate (OPE) 10 surfactant. Dynamic surface tension measurement using a maximum bubble pressure tensiometer showed that the adsorption rate at the interface between air and surfactant solution was found to be slower with SP 20 surfactant, presumably due to a low mobility of SP 20 surfactant monomer. The contact angle of SP 20 surfactant solution was observed to decrease with an increase in surfactant concentration and showed a larger value than that of OPE 10 surfactant solution. Half-life time for foams generated with 1 wt% surfactant solution was also larger with SP 20 surfactant, which indicated higher foam stability with SP 20 surfactant. Dynamic behavior study reveals that the solubilization of n-decane oil was much lower with SP 20, which is in good agreement with experimental results of foam stability, contact angle and CMC. Dynamic interfacial tension measurement by a spinning drop tensiometer shows that interfacial tensions at equilibrium condition in both systems were almost the same but the time required to reach equilibrium was longer with SP 20.

The purpose of this study is the development of practical Dry floor tile unit method that settle the defect of a wet method and designed for resin mat. With use of PE resin which is confirmed the basic property, it is developed that resin mat, joint-sealing compound with fixed form and space management to Dry floor tile unit method. The result of this study is below. 1) To acquire above the 4kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ - construction specification criterion, the bonding space that between resin mat and tile has to occupy the 50% of resin mat module space(10,000$\textrm{cm}^2$). 2) Criteria of bonding part plane is below. simpleness of metal form. productivity, uniform quality after injection molding cooling, easy cutting for remain space management, adhesive property, construction ability, transformation of a severed piece under pressure and so on. 3) To get the shape that could protect the interfacial breakdown, it is designed that resin mat and tile are unified after the bond input. 4) Adapted joint-sealing compound is the material of urethane kinds wedge form. Resin mat has the water passageway that could drain the water. 5) To manage the severed piece of tile, the resin mat is likely to divide the half and the quarter and the plastic drainage is developed in the severed piece.
Poly (vinyl acetate) (PVAc) was used as a precursor of PVA/PVAc (skin/core) bicomponent. In order to investigate the possibility of PVA particles for electrical applications, PVA/PVAc particles were produced with an emulsifier, SDS (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate) and an initiator, V-50 (2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane)digydrochloride). In this study, we investigated the electrical property of PVA/PVAc (skin/core) particles. The hydroxyl group of the PVA/PVAc (skin./core) was confirmed by the analysis of PVAc and PVA/PVAc (skin/core) using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The zeta-potential of the PVA/PVAc (skin/core) and PVAc has similarity; however, charge control agent (CCA) treated PVA/PVAc (skin/core) particles has lower zeta-potential than untreated PVA/PVAc particles. The zeta-potential (negative values) of the PVA/PVAc (skin/core) were enhanced in proportion to the increased concentration of CCA.

The behavior of surface film formation was greatly dependent on the speed of potential cycling. In $LiClO_4$ / EC + DEC, cyclic voltammetry results showed that the peaks originated from surface film formation on graphite electrode at the high charge-discharge rate was shifted to the lower potentials as the charge-discharge rate decrease. This indicates that surface films with different morphology and thickness were formed by different charge-discharge rate. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicated that the properties such as thickness and morphology of the surface film were greatly affected by the charge-discharge rate. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) showed that the resistance of surface film was affected by the speed of potential cycling. In addition, the charge transfer resistance was also dependent on the charge-discharge rate indicating that the charge transfer reaction was affected by the nature of surface film. TEM and EIS results suggested that the chemical property as well as the physical property of the surface film was affected by the charge-discharge rate.
