[Review] The Impact of Character Collaboration Product Characteristics on Brand Awareness and Purchase Intention: Focusing on F&B Products

  • This study aims to investigate the impact of character collaboration product characteristics on brand awareness and purchase intention within the food and beverage (F&B) industry, with a special focus on Generation MZ's growing interest in such products. The methodology involves a comprehensive review of existing literature on character marketing, brand awareness, and consumer purchase intention, supplemented by case studies of successful character collaborations in the F&B sector. The findings reveal that character collaborations significantly impact brand awareness and purchase intentions, particularly among younger consumers like Generation MZ. These collaborations not only rekindle nostalgia but also introduce new and exciting consumer experiences, effectively attracting a wide demographic. The success of character-themed products, from Pokémon bread to Coca-Cola's League of Legends collaboration, underscores the strategy's effectiveness in boosting brand recognition and consumer engagement. The implications of this research are manifold for the F&B industry. Firstly, it highlights the importance of leveraging popular characters to forge emotional connections with consumers. Secondly, it suggests that product development should closely align with consumer preferences and market trends to maximize appeal. Lastly, it positions character collaboration as a strategic marketing tool that not only enhances product sales but also strengthens brand loyalty and facilitates sustained brand growth.

  • While technologies such as the 4th revolution and artificial intelligence (AI), which create new value through the convergence of intelligent information technology, are becoming hot topics, the beauty industry is rapidly developing and combining information and communication technology to produce beauty items based on smartphones among mobile technologies. As the area of expands, YouTube is forming a network through various means of information. In particular, beauty-related YouTube videos are a field of great interest and popularity among the public. By classifying the makeup characteristics according to the emotional images shown in domestic YouTube videos by emotional image and identifying the characteristics of makeup, the needs for watching YouTube makeup videos are identified. We aim to build trust in the delivery of information about makeup. The emotional images were divided into four types: 'modern', 'natural', 'gorgeous', and cute. Among the domestic makeup YouTubers, Pony, Isabe and Shinnim, Lamuque were selected. By organizing more diverse makeup-related content systematically and creatively, we expect to have a positive influence on k-makeup not only domestically but also overseas. We aim to provide basic data for follow-up research on makeup YouTuber videos in the field of cosmetology and contribute to marketing plans for the development of the beauty content industry and establishment of promotional strategies.

  • The study explores the growing interest in up-cycling within the fashion industry, driven by concerns over environmental degradation caused by mass production and fast fashion. Emphasizing the ethical dimension, the research focuses on recombination processes. Departing from traditional up-cycling concepts, the study introduces new expression methods by altering the position, function, and role of clothes. The target audience is women in their 20s and 30s, with the designs incorporating various materials and re-purposing frequently discarded items like jackets, suits, jeans, and bags. The goal is to offer diverse expressions of uphigh-dimensional clothing designs using waste material dismantling and recycled clothing while addressing environmental responsibility in fashion design.

  • Recently, interest in ChatGPT has been increasing. This study investigated the factors influencing the satisfaction of users using ChatGPT service, a chatbot system based on artificial intelligence technology. This paper empirically analyzed causality between the four major factors of service quality, system quality, information quality, and security as independent variables and user satisfaction of ChatGPT as dependent variable. In addition, the mediating effect of reliability between the independent variables and user's satisfaction was analyzed. As a result of this research, except for information quality, among the quality factors, security and reliability had a positive causality with use satisfaction. Reliability played a mediating role between quality factors, security, and user satisfaction. However, among quality factors, the mediating effect of reliability between service quality and user's satisfaction was not significant. In conclusion, in order to increase user satisfaction with new technology-based services, it is important to create trust among users. The research results sought to emphasize the importance of user trust in establishing development and operation strategies for artificial intelligence systems, including ChatGPT.

Effects of Antimicrobial Socks Using Hemp Stem Bark Extract Fibers on Foot Health Improvement (대마줄기껍질 추출 섬유를 활용한 항균 양말이 발 건강 개선에 미치는 영향)

  • With increasing global interest in environmentally friendly materials and the consequent rise in demand, there is a growing need for alternatives to synthetic fibers, which can cause skin diseases and other side effects. The fashion industry is emphasizing material sustainability owing to concerns about increasing carbon emissions. Moreover, consumers express a strong desire for ecofriendly and sustainable materials. Therefore, clothing brand companies are developing eco-friendly products to enhance their corporate image. Hemp fibers are recognized for their functionality and are utilized as crucial materials in the development of eco-friendly products by global fashion companies. In this study, we produced socks that effectively improve foot health using hemp stem bark extract fibers and demonstrated the positive efficacy of natural fibers through functional and wearability evaluations. Hemp stem bark extract fibers showed 99.9% antimicrobial effectiveness against bacteria responsible for sweat-induced bacterial proliferation and odor, when blended with lyocell fibers and woven into fabric to manufacture socks. Wearability evaluations of these terry cloth socks confirmed a reduction in foot odor and fatigue among the participants with a consumer satisfaction of 4.63/5. These findings confirm the effectiveness and positive impact of the natural antimicrobial properties of hemp fibers and terry cloth structure in improving foot health.

  • Globally, technologies and policies are being developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In agriculture, there's increasing interest in reducing methane emissions from paddy fields by improving water management practices. While automated irrigation systems are being developed, research on farmers' adoption intentions is lacking. This study aims to examine factors influencing farmers' acceptance of these systems using the UTAUT2 model. Results show that effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, price value, and user innovativeness positively influence acceptance intention, while perceived risk and innovation resistance negatively impact it. User innovativeness partially mediates the effects of facilitating conditions, price value, perceived risk, and innovation resistance on acceptance intention. Policy implications are proposed to promote the adoption of automated irrigation systems.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors that influence consumers' acceptance intentions towards Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Genetic Testing service. DTC genetic testing service can be considered in two aspects: the application of new technology in genetic testing customers can directly purchase and the services for receiving the test results customer can't directly analyze. Existing technology-based acceptance models have difficulty fully explaining consumers' acceptance intentions towards DTC genetic testing services. Therefore, this study aims to propose a new acceptance model considering these two characteristics. A survey was conducted with 377 potential consumers for this research. The analysis revealed that health interest, prior knowledge, subjective norms, innovativeness, perceived usefulness, and perceived value affect consumers' acceptance intentions. The results obtained through this study can help establish strategies and marketing plans necessary for the diffusion of services, such as DTC genetic testing services, that combine a new technology and a service. In the long term, the accumulated DTC genetic testing results data can contribute to the development of national genetic information infrastructure and preventive medical applications, as well as improve individuals' quality of life.

Analysis of Factors Influencing Seafood Consumption Based on the Presence or Absence of Young Children in Households (가구 내 영유아 유무에 따른 수산식품 소비 결정 요인 분석)

  • This study aims to develop effective strategies for stimulating seafood consumption in the growing young children market, particularly at a time when interest in healthy eating is increasing. To achieve this, data from the 2023 survey on changes in seafood consumption behavior of 1,000 domestic consumers by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency were utilized. The analysis was conducted using an ordered probit model, along with T-tests and chi-square tests to examine the determinants of seafood consumption. The results indicated that the presence of young children in a household significantly influences seafood consumption. This is largely due to the perception that seafood is beneficial for the health and safety of infants and toddlers. Households with young children prioritize food safety and convenience, showing a preference for pre-processed seafood, while households without young children tend to purchase unprocessed seafood and prepare it themselves. This study highlights the impact of having young children on seafood consumption and purchasing behavior, providing valuable insights for the development of targeted seafood marketing strategies and policies.

Use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in Patients With Colorectal Cancer

  • This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between cancer-related stress and the types of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) used by subjects diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The number of study subjects was 142, and for data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, χ2 test, logistic regression procedures were performed. Of the subjects, 114 were CAM users, who accounted for 79.6%. When it came to using CAM, 82 (72.6%) said they did "to prevent cancer recurrence." The most popular reason for not using CAM was "to focus on treatment as instructed by the doctor," with 22 (75.8%) respondents selecting the answer. Of those who used CAM, 79 (55.6%) said they took "dietary supplements," followed by 65 (45.8%) who picked "vitamins and minerals." Regarding CAM usage, ginger, aloe, swimming, and walking had the highest satisfaction (4.25 ± 0.71). The cancer-related stress of subjects who use CAM (18.21 ± 15.37) was higher than that of subjects who did not use CAM (10.11 ± 12.08). Logistic regression analysis determined that cancer-related stress were factors significantly associated with CAM use. Patients using CAM had higher cancer-related stress, suggesting that stress on cancer increased CAM interest. Safe and reliable CAM information and standardized recommendations should be provided to cancer survivors. We propose the development of training programs for CAM to improve communication between medical staff and patients and to protect patients.

Research Trends on PBM (Performance-based Management) in Korea

  • Purpose: PBM is emerging as a major management system for securing corporate productivity and enhancing competitiveness, and various studies are being conducted. The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends published in KCI-listed journals and papers since 1999 to understand the current status of research and provide basic data for more extensive research and development of performance management in the future. Research design, data and methodology: A detailed examination of research trends was conducted through the analysis of abstracts from 154 research papers on PBM. To facilitate a comprehensive analysis of these trends, LDA topic modelling was employed. Results: First, it should be noted that research on PBM is not limited to the area of HRM. Instead, PBM research is expanding to encompass comprehensive personnel systems. Second, the results of topic modeling analysis show that although the initial focus of research was on human resource management, there is now a growing interest in fairness and organizational culture in the entire organization. Conclusions: PBM is becoming a dominant paradigm as it shifts from HR systems to organizational fairness and culture. This suggests that future research should consider both quantitative and qualitative aspects of PBM to improve corporate performance while prioritizing organizational fairness and culture.
