  • Device miniaturization and high integrated circuit design is of major interest for the development of electronic devices. Various studies have been conducted to develop new material and processing technique[1]. Negative Differential Resistance(NDR) is the defining behavior in several electronic components, including the Esaki diode and most notably, resonant tunneling diodes(RTD)[2]. We made a comparison of electrical properties between 4,4-Di(ethynylphenyl)-2'-nitro-1-(thioacetyl)benzene and 4-[2,5-dimethoxy-4-(p henylethynyl)phenyl]ethynylphenylethanethioate, which have been well known as a conducting molecule having possible application to molecular level NDR devices. As a result, we measured current-voltage curves using Scanning Tunneling microscopy(STM), I-V curves also showed several current peaks between negative and positive bias region.

  • The ideal of middle class British masculinity and the representative of the new Victorian respectability, the ″gentleman″ was difficult to define amidst the class mobility and social change of the nineteenth century. Was the gentleman to be identified by class and by money\ulcorner By behavior and clothing\ulcorner By religion and morality\ulcorner This essay focuses on the problem of the ″gentleman″ as it was debated in the Victorian era and as it was reflected in the biography and work of the mid-nineteenth century's most important English writer, Charles Dickens. I examine the critical debate surrounding the Victorian idea of the ″gentleman″ by comparing the arguments of Shirley Robin Letwin's The Gentleman in Trollope(1982) and Robin Gilmour's The Idea of the Gentleman in the Victorian Novel(1981). Letwin views the ″gentleman″ as largely transcending class structure, while Gilmour's more historically-conscious view locates the gentleman as emerging out of, and even enabling, the class negotiations of this period. Against the backdrop of such debates, I discuss Charles Dickens's struggles with the idea of the gentleman in theory and in practice. In his novels, especially his semi-autobiographical bildungsromane about the growth and development of boys into adulthood, Dickens prominently engages with the identity and definition of the gentleman. As I demonstrate in this essay, this interest originated from Dickens's own childhood trauma and his subsequent drive to attain gentility, a necessity complicated by the vicissitudes of his personal and professional life.

  • Recently there has been a great world-wide interest in developing and characterizing new nano-structured materials. These newly developed materials are often prepared in limited quantities and shapes unsuitable for the extensive mechanical testing. The development of depth sensing indentation methods have introduced the advantage of load and depth measurement during the indentation cycle. In the present work, ZnO thin films are prepared on the Glass, GaAs(100), Si(111), and Si(100) substrates at different temperatures by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) method. Because the potential energy in c-axis is law, the films always shaw c-axis orientation at the optimized conditions in spite of the different substrates. Thin films are investigated by X-ray diffractometer and Nano indentation equipment. From these measurements it is possible to get elastic modulus and hardness of ZnO thin films on all substrates.

  • In recent years, the technologies for the production of synthetic fuel from natural gas have been attracting considerable interest because of high oil prices. While oil prices remaining high, GTL (Gas-to-Liquids) technology would provide an attractive option for utilizing gas resources. Furthermore, GTL fuels contain almost zero sulfur and low aromatics and have a very high cetane so that they are estimated to be environmentally friendly diesel fuels able of meeting the advanced fuel specifications of the 21st century. GTL process generally consists of three primary steps: synthesis gas production from natural gas reforming, hydrocarbon production from synthesis gas by Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) synthesis, product upgrading by hydrocracking/hydroisomerization. This paper presents a brief summary of GTL technology and worldwide development trend about it focusing on the reforming of natural gas and the F-T synthesis.

  • As the foundation of the National Digital Library(NDL) by the National Library of Korea is in progress, there has been an increasing interest in developing a policy for its successful operations. Although the research and support related to building domestic library policies have been limited so far, it is an important ongoing problem to develop and improve systematic and detailed policies for information services of digital libraries in order for them to continuously advance in a rapidly changing information environment along with various issues. Therefore, through a thorough review of the literature and overseas cases related to the development of digital library policies, this research aims to provide a new direction for establishing service policies of domestic digital libraries including the NDL by extracting its critical factors and issues.

  • Organizational culture has been very important in the field of organizational behavior research for the past decade. Although there has been a growing interest in the organizational culture and organizational performance, there was few research in healthcare organizations. The objective of this study is to identify the relationship of organizational culture based on the Quinn's competing values approach, with job satisfaction and intention of turnover perceived by national hospital employees. The study setting was the national hospital. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires. The study sample consisted of 555 hospital employees. Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) analysis was conducted to find the causal relationship of organizational culture, job satisfaction and intention of turnover. The major results of this study are as follows: the consensual culture, rational culture, and developmental culture in national hospital showed a strong relationship with job satisfaction and intention of turnover in contrast to other previous studies. This finding showed that task oriented and human related climate is more effective on job satisfaction than hierarchical culture in national hospital settings.

  • Recently, customers interest increase in the agricultural product safety when receiving the many information about food problem due to the development of media. Such amid, domestic agricultural environment don't have a system that safety certification of agricultural product. At this rate, domestic agricultural products will decrease the competitive power and apprehend by the giving a market to foreign agricultural product. In this paper, we designed and implementation of AIGT system for the improvement of agricultural environment to producing the agricultural product safety and customers' reliability increase to offering clear information. Also, we defined the right data structure for agricultural environment. The monitoring and video conference are imported for efficient improvement of environment.

  • Recently, small quadcopters have been widely used in various areas ranging from military to entertainment applications because interest in the quadcopter increases. Especially, the research on swarm flight which control quadcopters simultaneously without any collision can increase success probability of a important mission. In addition the swarm flight can be applied for demonstrating choreographed aerial maneuvers such as dancing and playing musical instruments. In this paper, we introduce multiple AR.Drone control system based on motion capture for indoor environment in which quadcopters can recognize current position each other and perform scenario based mission.

  • With the increase in construction of long railway tunnel, social interest in the railway tunnel fire risk has also increased. However, quantitative fire risk research on this topic is still lacking, especially in terms of consideration of uncertainty of each variables used in risk analysis. Hence, in this study, to improve the overall performance of fire risk analysis technique for railway tunnel, Monte-Carlo simulation method is added to the traditional probabilistic risk analysis based on event tree approach and its validity is investigated by applying it to the real railway tunnel project.

  • The conventional systems engineering has been performed mainly based on documentation artifacts. Although the Document-Based Systems Engineering has played a very important role in developing and deploying systems, it is difficult for systems engineers to build, to clarify, and to reuse the operational, functional and physical views of the System of Interest (SOI) efficiently. An information-age approach to this problem is the Model-Based Systems Engineering which has been emerging as a very productive solution for stakeholders to define, and understand the desired systems easily, to communicate and collaborate efficiently among each other, and also to verify and validate the systems solutions effectively. This paper proposes a set of MBSE process, methods, and models for use during the systems analysis and design phase of the naval combat system development. An example application of the proposed approach was exercised and a set of artifacts was generated for an export combat system project to demonstrate its effectiveness.
