Study of educational management on performance of scholar in nano/micro-level composite

  • This study investigates the impact of educational management on the performance of scholars in the field of nano/micro-level composites. The objective is to understand how effective management strategies can enhance the academic achievements and research outcomes of students specializing in this advanced area of materials science. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, data was collected from various educational institutions renowned for their programs in nano/micro-level composites. Our results indicate that tailored educational management practices significantly improve student performance. Key strategies identified include personalized mentorship programs, interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities, and access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. Institutions that implemented these practices observed a marked increase in the quality and quantity of research outputs, higher student satisfaction rates, and improved post-graduation employment prospects in relevant industries. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of continuous professional development for educators to stay abreast of the latest advancements in nano/micro-level composites. By fostering an environment of innovation and support, educational management can play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of researchers and professionals in this cutting-edge field. Subitizing in Children and Adults, Depending on the Object Individuation Level of Stimulus: Focusing on Performance According to Spacing, Color, and Shape of Objects (자극의 대상개별화 수준에 따른 유아와 성인의 즉지하기: 대상의 간격, 색, 모양 구성에 따른 수행을 중심으로)

  • This study investigated the development and core mechanism of subitizing in children and adults as well as provides related theoretical and practical discussions. This study was conducted to determine if subitizing changed with the age of participants and if there were differences in subitizing according to the spacing, color, and shape of the stimuli. The subitizing task set (including forty main trials) was prepared. Forty-five children (fifteen each in groups of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds) and fifteen adults were recruited to perform the subitizing tasks. The results demonstrated that the subitizing speed and accuracy of children improved abruptly between age 3 and age 4. Furthermore, there were significant differences in children's subitizing speed according to the spacing and color of the objects. The children's response time decreased when the objects were fully apart or were of diverse colors. In addition, there were partial significant differences in the subitizing speed of children related to the shape of the objects. The subitizing speed of children decreased in a condition (subitizing 5 objects of diverse colors in fixed spacing) when the shapes of the objects were diverse. The subitizing speed of adults only differed according to the space of the objects. The results demonstrate the development of subitizing in early childhood along with the presence of object individuation processing stages underlying subitizing. This study also provides practical information and suggestions for educational curricula that can strengthen the competency of children in systematic and diverse activities.

  • To keep pace with rapidly changing social and technological trends, the Department of Mechanical and System Design Engineering at Hongik University is in the process of updating teaching materials and learning methodologies while evaluating/revising our existing curriculum. In order to be better apprised of the employment needs and student aspirations, we have conducted three separate but related surveys by targeting experienced professionals and managers, alumni working in industries as practising engineers, and our current students. The surveys have furnished us with valuable insights that, we hope, will lead to a new curriculum and learning methods more in tune with needs of our students as well as their future employers. Among other findings, the analysis of the survey responses points towards expansion of integrated laboratory and design experiences, cultivation of improved written and oral communication capabilities involving individual and team efforts, and development of interdisciplinary courses encompassing related fields of engineering as well as emerging fields such as nano and information technologies.

  • The purpose of the study is to suggest a standardized teaching-learning model as a method for strengthening the practical effect of the information ethic education for the adolescent, which is practiced in schools as the inter-disciplinary way. A survey was put to teachers and their needs are analyzed. At the same time, in order to draw the practical teaching-learning model, the teaching examples were collected for contesting. Through this process, a bottom-up approach which tries to analyze the actual class examples and generalizes them, the teaching-learning model has been suggested. As a result, another survey was conducted for the investigation of the efficacy of the model between beneficiary group and comparison group. The results are as followings; the experiment group showed a higher index in regard with such items as Information Culture Index, Lesson Satisfaction Degree, and Practice Will than Comparison Group, and the differences are statistically significant.   • Recently, there is a growing interest in learning to use games as a teaching method for digital native learners. In this study, we conducted a path analysis between bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, linguistic intelligence, flow, learning outcomes(academic achievement, persistence intention) in motion-capture game-based learning(the used game developed for elementary school history class). As a result, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence directly influenced flow and indirectly influenced learning outcomes. Linguistic intelligence did not have direct influence on flow and indirect effects on learning outcomes. Through this result, we expected that the motion-capture game-based learning facilitate learning motivation and performance of learners for higher bodily-kinesthetic intelligence.

Analysis of Alcoholism Treatment Programs in North America - Focused on Relapse Prevention - (북미지역 알코올중독 치료 프로그램 분석 - 재발방지를 중심으로 -)

  • Relapse is one of the most serious problem in alcoholism treatment area. But there is no proper post-treatment management program for preventing relapse in Korea. The purposes of this study are the analysis of several alcoholism treatment programs and recommendation about consideration for developing our alcoholism treatment program to prevent relapse in our country. Five different alcoholism treatment programs were collected for this study, two programs were collected by participant observation and three were collected by instruction manuals, references, and briefing materials. The followings are the criteria for this analysis of the five treatment programs. 1. the specific characteristics of the treatment program 2. the criterion of the patients, the duration and period (or the treatment, the special activities, and goals of the treatment. 3. the common characteristics of the five treatments. The common characteristics of those treatment programs are; 1 preparation for post-treatment from the beginning of the treatment (hospitalization) 2. assessment of relapse related factors 3. assessment of the relapse-warning signs 4. development and plan of individualized intervention strategy 5. practice of the plan The common characteristics of those treatment programs are 1. groups are classified the recovery training groups and the self-help groups 2 all kind of treatment programs carried out as groups rather than individuals. 3. usefulness which apply to various settings and various types 4. multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach As results, those programs were developed as post-detoxication management program, follow up program, and continued care program and their theoretical framework was from social learning theory. Those programs used the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy for the classes, groups, and social skill training. These finding can be used for developing culturally appropriate alcoholism treatment programs focused on relapse prevention.

Dynamic Mechanical and Morphological Studies of Styrene-co-Methacrylate and Sulfonated Polystyrene Ionomers Containing Aliphatic Dicarboxylate Salts

  • This study examined the effects of the sodium salts of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids (DCAs) on the dynamic mechanical properties and morphology of two sets of poly(styrene-co-sodium methacrylate) (MNa) and poly(styrene-co-sodium styrenesulfonate) (SNa) ionomers. When the DCA content was relatively low, the ionic moduli of the MNa and SNa ionomers increased but the matrix and cluster glass transition temperature ($T_g$) did not change significantly. The increasing ionic modulus was almost independent of the type of the ionic groups of the ionomer, and the chain length of DCAs. When a large amount of the sodium succinate (DCA4) was added to the MNa and SNa ionomers, the ionic moduli of the two ionomers increased strongly but the matrix and cluster $T_g's$ increased slightly and significantly, respectively. In the case of sodium hexadecanedioate (DCA 16), DCA 16 increased the ionic moduli of the two ionomers. The addition of DCA16 changed the matrix and cluster $T_g's$ of the MNa ionomer slightly, but decreased the cluster $T_g$ of the SNa ionomer significantly with no change in the matrix $T_g$. In addition, the DCA-containing ionomers showed an X-ray diffraction peak indicating the presence of ordered domains of DC As in the ionomers. Hence, DCA4 acts mainly as a reinforcing filler in MNa and SNa systems. In the case of DCA 16, it initially behaved like a filler but also functioned as a preferential plasticizer for the clusters at high content.

  • The purpose of the study was to develop achievement criteria of Creativity and Personality in Expressive Activity. For the study, a Delphi survey was conducted with the selected Delphi experts including doctors of sports pedagogic, physical education teachers and doctors of dance studies who have more than 10-year teaching experience in the expressive activity. In this way, the following study result was obtained. First, 27 elements of creativity in the expressive activity were suggested such as originality, sensitivity, trust, courage, moderation. Second, 54 achievement criteria which were drawn up based on the 27 Creativity and Personality-elements. Achievement criteria of creativity and personality was presented in a modular fashion that could be applied in the creation, representation, appreciation which was composed of main content in expressive activity. By using these modules, physical education teachers could plan a lesson by choosing a various factors of creativity and personality, depending on the intended educational goals.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide fundamental data to propose further directions of education on rehabilitation nursing by investigating the adequacy of the educational contents of rehabilitation nursing. This study was a descriptive survey study. The data collected at 25 universities and 24 junior colleges through questionnaires to answer the research questions from August 10 to September 30, 2000. The questionnaire was consisted of 24 items. The contents of rehabilitation nursing education were developed by consulting with the rehabilitation nursing professionals. The results are as follows Rehabilitation nursing was taught as an independent class in 15 universities and 9 junior colleges. Most professors majoring in adult nursing (66.8%) were in charge of teaching the courses. For the adequacy of the teaching contents of rehabilitation nursing, conceptual bases for rehabilitation was the highest score (4.0), and interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, activities of daily living, clients of rehabilitation, nursing process in rehabilitation nursing, functional evaluation, movement and mobility, physical therapy, occupational therapy, sensation and perception, communication/language, eating and swallowing, bladder elimination, community based rehabilitation nursing, sleep, rest &, fatigue, bowel elimination, historical perspectives of rehabilitation nursing, sexuality, pulmonary rehabilitation, pain, cardiac rehabilitation, skin integrity, family care was ordered.
