HMD를 사용한 가상현실 선박 시뮬레이터 시스템의 프로토타입 개발 (Development of Prototype VR Ship Simulator System Using HMD)

  • The paper deals with the implementation of prototype Ship Simulator system (VRSS) by Virtual Reality techniques with Head Mounted Display (HMD) device. The prototype VRSS was consists of PC-based human sensors, object oriented operating system. In addition, two kinds of databases arranged from Head Related Transfer Functions and 3D object models were used to create 3D sea sound, and to construct virtual world, respectively. Using the prototype system, we carried out some simulation tests for the overtaking situation to prevent collisions at sea, and discussed on the usability of the system. As results from simulations, the prototype VRSS can provide multisensory and interactive display environment. The results gave rise to the user interaction with 3D objects that give realistic reproduction of navigational environments under a given scenario. Thus, we found that the prototype VRSS should be one of the next-generation ship simulation system.

네트워크 침입 탐지 및 방어를 위한 인터렉티브 시뮬레이션 프레임웍 (Interactive Simulation Framework for Network Intrusion Detection and Defense Simulation)

  • 네트워크 침입 탐지와 방어를 위한 연구는 실제 네트워크 환경을 구성하고, 실제 네트워크 침입을 통해 네트워크 침입 탐지와 방어 기법을 연구하는 것이 가장 좋은 방법이다. 하지만, 실제 네트워크 환경에서 대규모 네트워크를 구성하고 네트워크 침입을 시도하여, 침입이 네트워크에 미치는 영향과 침입을 탐지하고 방어하는 방법은 많은 시간과 비용이 필요하게 된다. 그 대안으로 제안하는 시뮬레이션을 통한 연구는 시간과 비용은 줄이면서, 실제와 근사한 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 시뮬레이션 프레임웍은 대규모 네트워크 환경을 구성하고, 구성한 네트워크 환경 위에서 특정한 호스트로 네트워크 침입을 시도할 때, 네트워크 침입을 탐지 및 방어하기 위한 적절한 방법을 연구하기 위한 프레임웍으로, 특정한 공격의 목표가 된 호스트상에 IDS(Intrusion Detection System)나 Firewall을 설치하고, 시뮬레이션의 진행 중 실험자가 원하는 시간에 공격을 잠시 중단시키고. 방어나 침입 탐지를 위한 IDS나 방화벽의 룰셋을 변경해 주는 방법을 통해 네트워크 침입 탐지 및 방어에 관한 유효 적절한 방법을 실험 할 수 있게 해 준다. 본 시뮬레이션 프레임웍을 사용하여, 이후 좀 더 다양한 네트워크 침입 구현을 통해 다양한 침입 행동에 대한 적절한 침입탐지 및 방어 기법에 관한 연구에 많은 도움이 될 것이다.

  • KEPRI successfully developed and installed RTDS(Real-Time Digital Simulator) during March 2001. The simulator will be used to study interactive simulation of electromagnetic & electromechanical and validation of protective & control systems. In this paper. the authors will present an overview of real-time digital simulator and its characteristic features. Special emphasis will be placed to the installation test results. This paper also addresses some key issues on the accuracy, reliability flexibility and its practical uses for real-time power simulation.

Using Piecewise Circular Curves as a 2D Collision Primitive

  • Physics simulation is an important part of many interactive 2D applications and collision detection and response is key component of this simulation. While methods for reducing the number of collision tests that need to be performed has been well researched, methods for performing the final checks with collision primitives have seen little recent development. This paper presents a new collision primitive, the n-arc, constructed from piecewise circular curves or biarcs. An algorithm for performing a collision check between these primitives is presented and compared to a convex polygon primitive. The n-arc is shown to exhibit similar, though slightly slower, performance to a polygon when no collision occurs, but is considerably faster when a collision does occur. The goodness of fit of the new primitive is also compared to a polygon. While the n-arc often gives a looser fit in terms of area, the continuous tangents of the n-arcs makes them a good choice for organic, soft or curved surfaces.

  • Purpose In this paper, we proposed alternate neighborhood system and reverse spread-direction approach for accurate and fast cellular automata-based image segmentation method. Materials and Methods On the basis of a simple but effective interactive image segmentation technique based on a cellular automaton, we propose an efficient algorithm by using Moore and designed neighborhood system alternately and reversing the direction of the reference pixels for spreading out to the surrounding pixels. Results In our experiments, the GrabCut database were used for evaluation. According to our experimental results, the proposed method allows cellular automata-based image segmentation method to faster while maintaining the segmentation quality. Conclusion Our results proved that proposed method improved accuracy and reduced computation time, and also could be applied to a large range of applications.

  • The design and manufacture of injection molded polymeic parts with desired mechanical properties is a costly process dominated by empiricism, including the modification of actual tooling. This paper presents an interactive computer-based design system for injection molded plastic parts. This knowledge-based synthesis system provides a rational design strategy for injection molding and molded parts. It synergistically combines a rule-based expert system for hurestic knowledge with analytical process simulation programs. The theremomechanical properties of a molded part such as the effect of molecular orientation and weldline strength are predicted by the analysis programs; while the expert system interprets the analytical results from the process simulation, evaluates the design, and generates recommendations for optimal design alternatives. The heuristic knowledge of injection molding is formalized as production rules of the expert consultation system.

  • This paper is concerned on kinematic analysis and simulation of an automatic feeding mechanism subjected by the motion of a curvilinear inverse cam. The main objection is the development of computer-aided design (CAD) program for simulating the motion of the cam-feeding mechanism using computer-graphics. A computer program CACAFS (Computer-Aided Cam and Automatic Feeding System) is independent of computer hardware used. The program is also interactive using a menu-selection technique. As the second part of the paper for the motion simulation of the cam-feeding system, this paper discusses the state-of-art for CAD. The first part of the paper presents the algorithm to simulate the notion of the cam-feeding mechanism.

  • This paper deal with a necessary factors for design grid connected photovoltaic system with stand-alone operation, and show simulation results of individual functions and multi- operation according to utility condition. Generally, photovoltaic system have only one operation of either stand-alone or line interactive, and have a isolation transformer for electrical isolation from utility therefore it is bulky, weighty, and a high price system as compared with usefulness. In this paper, A topology and algorithm adequate for lightweight, high efficiency, low price, multi function is selected and inquired into the validity using simulation of variable conditions.

  • 방대한 볼륨 데이터의 가시화는 상당히 많은 계산 비용과 메모리 공간을 필요로 하는 작업이다. 본 논문에서는 방대한 볼륨 데이터를 효과적으로 압축할 수 있는 웨이블릿에 기반을 둔 3차원적인 압축 기법을 제안하고, 이 기법으로 압축된 데이터를 인터렉티브하게 가시화할 수 있는 네비게이션 시스템의 구현에 대해 설명한다. 본 압축 기법은 방대한 볼륨 데이터를 효과적으로 압축함으로써, 64∼128MByte 정도의 제한된 메인 메모리를 갖는 목표로 한다. 따라서, 개발된 압축 스킴은 데이터 전체에 대한 복원없이 가시화가 필요한 부분의 데이터만을 빠르게 복원할 수 있는 랜덤 액세스가 가능하도록 설계되었으며, 적은 계산 비용으로 복원이 가능하다는 장점을 갖는다. 개발된 네비게이션 시스템은 가시화 속도 향상을 위한 여러 가지 효과적인 렌더링 모듈과 사용자 인터페이스 모듈로 구성되며, 현재 성능 향상을 위한 연구가 계속 진행되고 있다.

  • We discuss simulation results concerning the performance of the TCP protocol when running over high-speed HFC networks. Hybrid Fiber Coaxial are likely to provide fast and cost effective sup-port to a variety of applications including Video on demand, interactive computer games, and internet-type applications such as Webbrowsing, ftp, and telephony. Since most of these applications, use TCP as the transport later protocol, the key to their success largely depends on the effectiveness of the TCP protocol. In all simulation scenarios the TCP traffic is maxed with some background traffic whose level is taken as a variable parameter. Both the background traffic and TCP traffic are either unshaped, or shaped according to the GCRA algorithm. The effect of the background traffic on the TCP protocol performance is discussed varying the buffering capacity with nodes as well as the peak bit rate that each TCP connection is allowed to use.
