Numerical Simulation of Auto-ignition Process of Diesel Sprays Using Detailed Chemistry and Representative Flamelet Model (상세 화학 반응 모델 및 RIF 모델을 이용한 디젤 분무의 자발화 과정 해석)

  • The interaction between chemistry and turbulence is treated by employing the Representative Interactive Flamelet (RIF) Model. The detailed chemistry of 114 elementary steps and 44 chemical species is adopted for the n-heptane/air reaction. In order to account for the spatial inhomogeneity of the scalar dissipation rate, the multi-RIF is used. The effect of the number of RIF on ignition delay is discussed in detail. Numerical results indicate that the present RIF approach successfully predicts the ignition delay time as well as the essential features of a spray auto-ignition process.

  • The optimal solution obtained by a linear programming model is to maximize the ramp inflow rate. It is argued in this paper that the maximization of inflow rate is different from the maximization of outflow rate under congested conditions. Therefore, this paper proposes a systematic searching procedure from a linear programing formulation to a integer programming : first obtain the optimal solution by a linear programming and then adding weight to linear programming then. solve the optimal solution again by integer programming i.e. The proposed method is an interactive approach. Measure of effectiveness by simulation models regards the real time data(O/D, queue, delay, etc), can be utilized in the proposed interactive process.

  • The mechanism design of the interactive emotional robot has been carried out. The two-wheeled inverted pendulum type mechanism was adopted to improve the mobility and make the innate clumsy monoaxial bicycle motion. Even though the system is unstable in itself, it is expected for the robot to move freely in a plane, keeping the upright position only with two wheels. Two motors attached on head can make 4 motion sets, and two motors on the wheels can make 8. Therefore, 32 independent motion sets can be achieved from the robot to communicate the emotions with humans. The motion's equation of the robot was derived based on nonholonomic dynamics, and the necessary power to the wheel's rotational axis was found by simulation.

  • Dispersed Generation (DG) units significantly effect the existing distribution protection practices. Therefore, new protection practices of the distribution system interconnected with DG units should be reevaluated and developed. In this paper, a new inter-tie protection scheme of DG units for distribution automatic reclosing is proposed. The impact of DG units on existing radial-sectionaliser coordination is analyzed. And the effects of the distribution reclosing type (radial and passive reclosing) on DG dynamics are analyzed and classified. From the results of the DG dynamic responses by the reclosing type, i.e. radial and passive reclosing, the inter-tie protection schemes of DG are introduced to improve the reliability and availability of utility interactive DG. The proposed schemes are proved and evaluated by a case study using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation.

  • This paper presents a virtual laboratory system which can be creating efficiencies in the learning process. The proposed virtual laboratory system for digital logic circuits provides interactive learning environment under which the multimedia capabilities of world-wide web can be enhanced. The virtual laboratory system is implemented to describe the on-campus laboratory, the learners can obtain similar experimental data through it. The virtual laboratory system is composed of four important components: principle classroom simulation classroom, virtual experiment classroom and management system. The database connectivity is made by PHP and the virtual laboratory environment is set up slightly differently for each learner. Learning efficiencies as well as faculty productivity are increased in this innovative teaching and learning environment.

  • 도시공원의 합리적인 유지관리를 위해서는 계획 및 설계단계에서 관리체계 및 비용의 주의깊은 분석이 요구된다. 공원의 유지관리문제를 계획 및 설계단계에서 고려하여 처리할 수 있는 방법론이 개발되어짐으로써 보다 합리적인 계획 및 설계가 이루어 짐과 동시에 이상적인 유지관리가 행해 질 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구에서는 Columbus시의 도시공원을 Sampling 하여 유지관리비용(maintenance cost)을 분석하고 계획 및 설계단계에서 유지관리비용을 줄일 수 있는 한 시도로써 Simulation Model을 개발해 보았다. 앞으로 컴퓨터 정보교환체계(Interactive computer information system)를 적절히 활용한다면 도시공원계획 및 유지 관리에 보다 큰 발전이 예상된다. 이와같은 연구를 보다 발전시키기 위해 1)상세한 유지관리비용의 분석, 2) 관리비용을 절감시킬수 있는 설계기준(Criteria)의 설정, 3)계획·설계·관리를 연결시킬 수 있는 컴퓨터 정보교환체계(Interactive computer Information system)의 개발등이 더욱 연구되야 할 것으로 생각된다.

  • In this paper, a new line-commutated SCR inverter for renewable power generation system is proposed. The proposed inverter system includes a 6-pulse SCR inverter and an auxiliary circuit. By the proper operation of the auxiliary circuit, the pulse number of the inverter system is increased and the output voltages and currents harmonics are significantly reduced. Analysis, control and simulation for 24-pulse operation of the proposed scheme is Presented and the experimental results from a laboratory Prototype verify the proposed theory.

  • The design and manufacture of injection molded Sear with desired Properties is a costly process dominated by empiricism including the interactive modification of prototype toolings. In this paper, an interactive computer-based design system for injection molded gear is developed in order to realize the concept of rational design for the productivity and quality of mold making of a small plastic gear. The knowledge-based synthesis system being developed in this paper combines a rule-based expert system with analytical process simulation programs in a synergistical manner. Quick and logical evaluations on the design of injection molded gear can be made on the scientific analysis and the accumulated experts' knowledge.

  • Nowadays, the user-centric application based web 2.0 has replaced the web 1.0. The users gain and provide information by interactive network applications. As a result, traditional approaches that only extract and analyze users' local document operating behavior and network browsing behavior to build the users' preference profile cannot fully reflect their interests. Therefore this paper proposed a preference analysis and indicating approach based on the users' communication information from MicroBlog, such as reading, forwarding and @ behavior, and using the improved PersonalRank method to analyze the importance of a user to other users in the network and based on the users' communication behavior to update the weight of the items in the user preference. Simulation result shows that our proposed method outperforms the ontology model, TREC model, and the category model in terms of 11SPR value.

Health and Wellness Monitoring Using Intelligent Sensing Technique

  • This work develops a monitoring system for the population with health concerns. A belt integrated with an on-body circuit and sensors measures a wearer's selected vital signals. The electrocardiogram sensors monitor heart conditions and an accelerometer assesses the level of physical activity. Sensed signals are transmitted to the circuit module through digital yarns and are forwarded to a mobile device via Bluetooth. An interactive application, installed on the mobile device, is used to process the received signals and provide users with real-time feedback about their status. Persuasive functions are designed and implemented in the interactive application to encourage users' physical activity. Two signal processing algorithms are developed to analyze the data regarding heart and activity. A user study is conducted to evaluate the performance and usability of the developed system.
