  • This paper describes the tracking filter performance for Naval Gun Ballistic Computation Unit(BCU). BCU needs tracing filter for gun firing. Using data of tracking sensor, BCU calculates the future position of Target and Gun order in the time of flight. In this paper, tracing filter is designed with interacting multiple model(IMM). The tracking algorithm based on the IMM requirers a considerable number of sub-model for the various maneuvering target in order to have a good performance. But, in the case of ship target, the maneuvering is restricted compared with the air target. Considering the maneuvering properties and adjusting the mode transition probabilities and the process noise of sub-model, We designed the IMM3 algorithm for Naval tracking filter with three sub-model.

  • It is important for advanced active safety systems and autonomous driving cars to get the accurate estimates of the nearby vehicles in order to increase their safety and performance. This paper proposes a sensor fusion method for radar and vision sensors to accurately estimate the state of the preceding vehicles. In particular, we performed a study on compensating for the lateral state error on automotive radar sensors by using a vision sensor. The proposed method is based on the Interactive Multiple Model(IMM) algorithm, which stochastically integrates the multiple Kalman Filters with the multiple models depending on lateral-compensation mode and radar-single sensor mode. In addition, a Probabilistic Data Association Filter(PDAF) is utilized as a data association method to improve the reliability of the estimates under a cluttered radar environment. A two-step correction method is used in the Kalman filter, which efficiently associates both the radar and vision measurements into single state estimates. Finally, the proposed method is validated through off-line simulations using measurements obtained from a field test in an actual road environment.

  • The problem of maneuvering target tracking has been studied in the field of the state estimation over decades. The Kalman filter has been widely used to estimate the state of the target, but in the presence of a maneuver, its performance may be seriously degraded. In this paper, to solve this problem and track a maneuvering target effectively, a DNA coding-based interacting multiple model (DNA coding-based IMM) method is proposed. The proposed method can overcome the mathematical limits of conventional methods by using the fuzzy logic based on DNA coding method. The tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the adaptive IMM algorithm and the GA-based IMM method in computer simulations.

  • A new interacting multiple model (IMM) method based on intelligent input estimation (IIE) is proposed for tracking a maneuvering target. In the proposed method, the acceleration level of each sub-filter is determined by IIE using the fuzzy system, which is optimized by the genetic algorithm (GA). The tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the input estimation (IE) technique and the adaptive interacting multiple model (AIMM) method in computer simulations.

  • The problem of maneuvering target tracking has been studied in the field of the state estimation over decades. The Kalman filter has been widely used to estimate the states of the target, but in the presence of a maneuver, its performance may be seriously degraded. In this paper, to solve this problem and track a maneuvering target effectively, DNA coding-based intelligent Kalman filter (DNA coding-based IKF) is proposed. The proposed method can overcome the mathematical limits of conventional methods and can effectively track a maneuvering target with only one filter by using the fuzzy logic based on DNA coding method. • CNS/ATM(Communication Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management) was adopted as a standard navigation system of 21st century. Therefore, ICAO(International Civil Aviation Organization) members are developing the technology and infrastructure of CNS/ATM. ADS-B(Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) system and Multilateration system are being implemented in the surveillance field of CNS/ATM. Multilateration system is installed in order to complement radar system and to surveil blind areas. Also, Multilateration system using TDOA(Time Difference Of Arrival) is more accurate than radar. In this paper, we applied an IMM(Interacting Multiple Model) filter which is widely used in radar systems to the Multilateration data in order to improve the reliability of the Multilateration data. Comparisons with the original Multilateration data and the Multilateration data with the IMM filter show that the ADS-B data with the IMM filter provides a better performance: 38.37% near the airport, 20.86% around 10 miles of the airport.

  • In a target tracking problem the radar glint noise has non-Gaussian heavy-tailed distribution and will seriously affect the target tracking performance. In most nonlinear situations an Extended Robust Kalman Filter(ERKF) can yield acceptable performance as long as the noises are white Gaussian. However, an Extended Robust $H_{\infty}$ Filter (ERHF) can yield acceptable performance when the noises are Laplacian. In this paper, we use the Interacting Multiple Model(IMM) estimator for the problem of target tracking with glint noise. In the IMM method, two filters(ERKF and ERHF) are used in parallel to estimate the state. Computer simulations of a real target tracking shows that hybrid filter used the IMM algorithm has superior performance than a single type filter.

  • Underwater vehicles use Inertial Navigation System (INS) with high-performance Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for high precision navigation. However, when underwater navigation is performed for a long time, the INS error gradually diverges, therefore, an integrated navigation method using auxiliary sensors is used to solve this problem. In terms of underwater vehicles, the vertical axis error is primarily compensated through Vertical Channel Damping (VCD) using a depth gauge, and an integrated navigation filter can be designed to perform horizontal axis error and sensor error correction using a speedometer such as Electromagnetic-Log (EM-Log). However, since EM-Log outputs the forward direction relative speed of the vehicle with respect to the sea and sea current, INS correction filter using this may cause a rather large error. Although it is possible to design proper filters if the exact model of the sea current is known, it is impossible to know the accurate model in reality. Therefore, this study proposes an INS/EM-Log integrated navigation filter with the function to estimate sea current using an Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) filters, and the performance of this filter is analyzed through a simulation performed in various environments.

  • When the target maneuver occurs, the estimate of the standard Kalman filter is biased and its performance may be seriously degraded. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new intelligent estimation algorithm for a maneuvering target. This algorithm is to estimate the unknown target maneuver by a fuzzy system using the relation between the filter residual and its variation. The detected acceleration input is regarded as an additive process noise. To optimize the employed fuzzy system, the genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized. And then, the modified filter is corrected by the new update equation method using the fuzzy system. The tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of an interacting multiple model (IMM).
