  • 기존의 데스크톱 컴퓨터가 고정된 공간에서만 사용되는데 반해 개인용 정보단말기(PDA)는 이동하면서 사용이 가능하다는 특징 때문에 소형화면과 작은 부피, 가벼운 용량의 특징을 지닌다. 그러나 이러한 제한된 화면에서는 한 번에 볼 수 있는 정보량이 적어 사용자 중심의 PDA용 GUI 아이콘 설계를 위해서는 우선 PC와 PDA간의 호환을 자유롭게 하는 인터페이스 디자인이 선행되어야 한다. 기존 소형화면에서는 한 번에 볼 수 있는 정보량이 적기 때문에 전체에 대한 개관이 불가능했고, 많은 정보를 담으면, 내용이해가 어려웠는데, 본 논문에서는 효율적인 GUI 아이콘 설계를 통해 정보의 ‘집중’과 ‘선택’ 이 가능한 PDA의 인터페이스 디자인을 알아보고자 한다. 대량 정보를 작은 화면에 종합적으로 담아내어 개관을 가능하게 하고, 정보의 내용과 가치를 아이콘의 크기와 색, 수직 혹은 수평적인 움직임 등의 시각화를 통해 차별화시킴으로써 개별 정보내용의 이해를 가능하게 한다. 앞으로 PDA와 PC의 표준화된 호환 가능한 브라우저가 모든 PDA에 기본 인터페이스로 장착된다면, 다른 매체들 간의 데이터 전송 시스템의 호환을 순조롭게 하여 경제적인 파급 효과 뿐만 아니라 차세대 이동통신의 영역까지 확장하여 산업적인 파급효과도 클 것으로 예상된다.

  • WDMB technology has merits of high bandwidth and high mobility. But WDMB also has uni-directional communication problem. This paper provides solution to supplements uni-directional communication problem of WDMB with embodying return channel using WWAN to offer high quality multimedia service to user. Also this paper proposes intelligent network interface selection algorithm using various network information and return channel type. As a result of simulation, our proposed scheme is better as compared with other handoff scheme in energy efficiency of $7{\sim}8%$ and about two time of handoff number of time decrease.

  • This paper suggests smart gateway structure and functionalities that provide device web service which can be used by user using objectified devices. The smart gateway objectify a physical device in other to provide the device web service in IoT intelligent service. And the paper suggests a mechanism that provide orchestrated service of various devices to user using a concept of service overlay network. and also suggests a interface that provide device web services and the orchestrated service between the smart gateway and a web service platform. In the paper, the objectified devices can be combined with web service objects and device contexts based on the service overlay network, furthermore the objectified devices can provide intelligence and dynamic service in the IoT environment.

Multimodal biometrics system using PDA under ubiquitous environments (유비쿼터스 환경에서 PDA를 이용한 다중생체인식 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a method based on multimodal biometrics system using the face and signature under ubiquitous computing environments. First, the face and signature images are obtained by PDA and then these images with user ID and name are transmitted via WLAN(Wireless LAN) to the server and finally the PDA receives verification result from the server. The multimodal biometrics recognition system consists of two parts. In client part located in PDA, user interface program executes the user registration and verification process. The server consisting of the PCA and LDA algorithm shows excellent face recognition performance and the signature recognition method based on the Kernel PCA and LDA algorithm for signature image projected to vertical and horizontal axes by grid partition method. The proposed algorithm is evaluated with several face and signature images and shows better recognition and verification results than previous unimodal biometrics recognition techniques.

  • The wearable computer that can understand the context of human life and intelligently communicate with various electronic media in ubiquitous computing environment would be very useful as an assistant for humans. In this paper we introduce an intelligent wearable assistance suite. The proposed wearable suite can interact with both humans and electronic media in ubiquitous computing environment. The developed system can sense the interactive electronic media that a user wants to use and also communicate with it. By utilizing these interaction capabilities, it intermediates between each media and the user and offers a friendlier interface to the user who wears this system. We also show the usages of the proposed system by demonstrating its interaction with the interactive electronic media in ubiquitous computing environment.

  • Nowadays, the advancement of digital information technology resulting in the increased interest of the management and the use of information has given stimulus to the research on the use and management of information. In this paper, we propose an integrated data mining model that can provide the necessary information and interface to users of scientific information portal service according to their respective classification groups. The integrated model classifies users from log files automatically collected by the web server based on users' behavioral patterns. By classifying the existing users of the web site, which provides information service, and analyzing their patterns, we proposed a web site utilization methodology that provides dynamic interface and user oriented site operating policy. In addition, we believe that our research can provide continuous web site user support, as well as provide information service according to user classification groups.

  • This study is concerned with proposing a new construct named "spatial metaphor" in the field of user interface design for web. Recently, web has been recognized as an important vehicle of delivering messages and information to customers. Since both hyperlink and multimedia technology are crucial part of web, its user interface requires a new approach to enhance user's acceptance of web. In this sense, we introduced a new concept named "spatial metaphor" instead of hierarchical menus. As a theoretical basis, Davis (1986)'s TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) was used to test the statistical validity of the proposed spatial metaphor. For test web site, we developed a prototype designed by using atomic-web system and spatial metaphor. By using the prototype, we built a web-based questionnaire system so that respondents can use it directly before answering the questionnaire. To prove its statistical validity, we collected valid questionnaires and tested with LISREL. In this way, statistical validity of our proposed approach was proven.approach was proven.

  • Recently there are lots of concerning on robot agent system working for itself with the trends of the research of bio-mimetic system and intelligent Therefore it is necessary to develop more humanized interface system from communicating with the robot agent. In this paper a virtual 3D interface system is proposed based on Internet for remote controlling and monitoring of robot agent. The proposed system is constructed as manager-agent model and a man can order a job at the 3D virtual interface environment of the manager located remotely Then the robot agent detects a 3D profile data from a range finder automatically and the robot moves the object to the new position in real space. The proposed system supports a advanced interface displaying virtual 3D graphics and real moving images and which makes it possible one to manage the robot agent more conveniently.

  • The PLC programming by IEC1131-3 is hard to handle to ordinary users as well as professionals. Also it has not a generality, so that it couldn't be debugging some logic errors easily. In order to be adapted for such environment, In this paper, I have developed the ISPLC(Intelligent Agent System based Software Programmable Logic Controller). In ISPLC system, LD programmed by a user is converted to the C code which can be used in a commercial editor such as Visual C++. The detection of logical errors in C code is more effective than PLC programming itself. ISPLC provides the GUI-based interface in web environment and an easy programming platform to such beginners as well as professionals. The study of code conversion of LD to IL as well as IL to C is firstly tried in the world as well as KOREA. To show the effectiveness of the developed system, I applied it to a practical case, a real time traffic control system. ISPLC is minimized the error debugging and programming time owing to be supported by windows application programs.

  • This paper describes an intelligent system to automatic evaluation of eddy current(EC) signal for Inspection of steam generator(SG) tubes in nuclear power plant. Some features of the intelligent system design in the proposed system are : (1) separation of representation scheme ,or event capturing knowledge in EC signal and for structural inspection knowledge in SG tubes inspection; (2) each representation scheme is implemented in different methods, one is syntactic pattern grammar and the other is rule based production. This intelligent system also includes an data base system and an user interface system to support integration of the hybrid knowledge processing methods. The intelligent system based on the proposed concept is useful in simplifying the knowledge elicitation process of the rule based production system, and in increasing the performance in real time signal inspection application.
