  • With the increasing number of high-rise and large-scale buildings, modern buildings are becoming intelligent, and are incurring high construction costs and requiring careful maintenance. Maintenance works for high-rise buildings significantly depend on human labor, unlike other construction processes that are gradually being automated. The resulting accidents may produce very high social and economic losses. To address this problem, herein, this paper proposes robotic building maintenance system using multi-robot concept, in specific, cleaning a building facade which is directly subjected to minimize human labor; that improves the process efficiency and economic feasibility. The sensor for detecting contamination of building's outer-wall glass is proposed; Kalman filter was used for estimating robots' status with the contamination of the window glass. Task allocation of the sensor based multi-robots for an effective way of task execution is introduced and the feasibility was verified through the simulations.

  • Recently, There have been many attempts to optimize energy usage in buildings and houses using Information Technology(IT) and the typical implementation can be found in Intelligent Building and Zero Energy Building. These kinds of buildings need to forecast the building loads, estimate the capacity requirement for power supply, and decide the capacity of the main transformer of the building. Currently, the capacity of the main transformer has been decided just using typical load estimation method not considering the load characteristics and patterns. In this paper, we propose a new load estimation method considering the load characteristics and patterns of the builiding. The proposed method was applied to actual mail center and verified the feasibility of application to actual design of buildings.

  • Sunlight Collector System is a new way to make sunlight available to living things. It transmits sunlight through fiber optics to wherever is needs. It applies the artificial lighting, underground lighting, intelligent building, museum lighting, restoration-room to health etc. Cutting out most of the ultra-violet and intra-red radiation. In this paper, we measured the spectrum analysis of sunlight and Sunlight collector System's light. Also, we found out the distance to get visible light.

It provides services such as emergency call, intelligent elevator operation, and hands-free door access based on the location of the residents with personal device as called smart tag. It can also be applied to other service areas such as the location-aware u-Service for Hospital, high-rising complex building, APT, etc.

  • Many artificial intelligence (AI) techniques have been embedded into various engineering technologies to assist them in achieving different goals. The integration of modern technologies with energy consumption management system and occupant's comfort inside buildings results in the introduction of intelligent building concept. The major aim of this integration is to manage the energy consumption effectively and keeping the occupant satisfied with the internal environment of the building. The last few couple of years have seen many applications of AI techniques for optimizing the energy consumption with maximizing the user comfort in smart buildings but still there is much room for improvement in this area. In this paper, a hybrid of two AI algorithms called firefly algorithm (FA) and genetic algorithm (GA) has been used for user comfort maximization with minimum energy consumption inside smart building. A complete user friendly system with data from various sensors, user, processes, power control system and different actuators is developed in this work for reducing power consumption and increase the user comfort. The inputs of optimization algorithms are illumination, temperature and air quality sensors' data and the user set parameters whereas the outputs of the optimization algorithms are optimized parameters. These optimized parameters are the inputs of different fuzzy controllers which change the status of different actuators according to user satisfaction.

  • This study aims to develop the Vehicle Local Dynamic Map (V-LDM) and demonstrate its performance for providing dynamic map data efficiently to the vehicle control module. Firstly, the concept of the in-vehicle LDM has been established and then the system has been carefully designed according to the international standards. The high-precision digital map embedded in LDM has been designed to incorporate the lane-level information of road network, and the Dynamic Map protocol (DM protocol) which is a message protocol including the road data with dynamic traffic event data has been defined. The performance test of the proposed system has been conducted in the uninterrupted road section of Kyungbu expressway, showing that both of the data size and the elapsed time to finish the process are almost linearly proportional to the length of target road. Finally, it is recommended that the length of target road for DM protocol be less than 250m.

  • This paper presents a human friendly system using fuzzy inference as a Part of study to embody intelligent ship. We also build intelligent ship's steering system to take advantage of speech recognition that is a part of the human friendly interface. It can bring an effect such as labor decrement in ship. In order to design the voice instruction based ship's steering gear control system, we build of the voice instruction based learning(VIBL) system based on speech recognition and intelligent learning method at first. Next, we design an quartermaster's operation model by fuzzy inference and construct PC based remote control system. Finally, we applied the unposed control system to the miniature ship and verified its effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a sensor based service model for traffic facilities in u-City through analysing the present condition of urban infrastructure, especially traffic facilities management. In order to achieve this purpose, we did a comparative analysis of internal and external situation of ITS(Intelligent Transport System) and classified service for traffic facilities to 3 categories, namely traffic flow management, traffic information offering, formation of road structure. Also, we examined technological trend of USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network). Through this process, we present a sensor based service model of traffic facilities for building sustainable road environment.
