  • The rapid growth and spread of the World Wide Web has made it possible to easily access a variety of useful information. It is, however, very difficult to retrieve, manage, and use the desired information in web. Various kinds of systems such as Search engines, MetaSearch engines, Spiders, Softbots, Intelligent Agents or Web Agents have been developed by a large number of researchers and companies. Those systems as intelligent agent are employed to avoid the overload of information. To efficiently improve the Software Agents, it is necessary to represent and classify the retrieved data. And to improve performance of the Intelligent Agents to create the classification, it is offered how to evaluate the propriety with other information retrieved from the Web and to recommend to the user the most suitable information.

  • We argue that agents may benefit from strategic ignorance in argumentation-based negotiation (ABN). We assume our agents are selfish, myopic, and residing in open systems. Some analytical results that can be used for designing agent reasoning on strategic ignorance are provided.

  • There are many kinds of multi-agent frameworks which support the high-level knowledge representation languages for providing intelligence to their agents. But, the agent programming interfaces of the frameworks require to use some general-purpose programming languages as well as tile knowledge representation languages. In general, knowledge representation languages and general-purpose programming languages are different in their levels and data representation models. The differences can make the problems about tile coupling of the elements which are necessary for developing intelligent agents. This paper describes a new type of intelligent agent shell INAS(INtelligent Agent Shell) version 2 which has developed to cope with the problems. Unlike the previous agent frameworks, INAS supports a high-level integrated agent building language for building intelligent agents by itself. Therefore, the development of intelligent agents by using INAS version 2 does not suffer from the problems of the previous agent frameworks. Through the development of several intelligent agents, we experienced that the agent building language of INAS version 2 could reduce the difficulties of developing intelligent agents.

  • In IoT environment, an intelligent agent is an autonomous entity with computing power that interacts with various things for specific purposes without human intervention. Recently, as the development of Internet technology has increased the size of resources and services that intelligent agents can utilize, an environment where intelligent agents can collaborate with each other is needed. To effectively support these changes, a method is needed to provide workspaces where intelligent agents can form various groups and collaborate on them. In this paper, we present TSpace which is an Ethereum-based group workspace for effective collaboration among intelligent agents. In TSpace, intelligent agents in IoT environment can use group service based on the Ethereum blockchain through the developed CoAP/RESTful web service. TSpace also introduces a new mechanism for managing Ethereum wallets of agents accessing group services and for creating Ethereum transactions using them.

  • Recently, intelligent agents are demanded increasingly automated techniques for animation according to interaction with user or environment of the user. In this paper, we have studied a generic framework for intelligent agents based on emotions. Intelligent agents are designed to infer emotions from diverse personalities, situations, user behaviors and to express them. We research into the technique and the case study for intelligent agents based on emotions supposing autonomous and interactive animation.

  • Intelligent agents represent parts and manufacturing resources, which cooperate, negotiate, and compete with each other. The negotiation between agents is in general based on the Contract-Net-Protocol. This paper describes a new approach to negotiation-based job shop scheduling. The proposed method includes multi-negotiation strategy as well as single-negotiation. A case study showing the comparison of various negotiation strategies is also given.

  • This paper deals with a development of the system that implements a collaborative design environment with some intelligent agents on the m. Intelligent agents can design collaboratively trough an interchange of messages in their special domains. Such a collaborative design of agents is achieved on the WWW. In this paper, we propose special agents named intercessor and DCM (Dynamic Connection Manager) and suggest new connection architecture using these agents in the WWW in order to improve the pre-existed agent connection architecture. The proposed agents are developed using Java language and JATLite API. We apply the these agents to the new architecture and show some possibilities that the agent connection architecture can be extended in the WWW Agents interchange messages with others using KOML (Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language), agent communication protocol and language, and deal with message autonomously according to their rule base. Agents register and connect dynamically trough the intercessor agent, and infer from their.

  • The realization of intelligence by using ontology is getting attention recently. However, it is necessary to design ontology models suitable to their purpose in order to use efficiently the intelligence realized by ontology. In this paper, we define a cognition cycle for intelligent agents representing a process that the intelligent agents recognize an event and react to it. Moreover, we design an ontology-based intelligent agent, and propose an ontology model that is possible to change the agent's states, to express its emotions, and to expand its intelligence through ontological inference. Finally, we develop an intelligent agent named Helen, confirm the change of her inner states according to the environment and situation, and show the easiness of the extension of her intelligence.

  • Mobile agents have the unique ability to transport themselves from one system in a network to another. The ability to travel allows mobile agents to move to a system that contains services with which they want to interact and then to take advantage of being in the same host or network as the service. But most of conventional mobile agent systems require that the users or the programmer should give the mobile agent its detail behavioral script for accomplishing the given task. And during its runtime, such mobile agents just behave according to the fixed script given by its user. Therefore it is impossible that conventional mobile agents autonomously build their own plants and execute them in considering their ultimate goals and the dynamic world states. One way to overcome such limitations of conventional mobile agent systems is to develop an intelligent mobile agent system embedding a reactive planner. In this paper, we design both a model of agent mobility and a model of inter-agent communication based upon the representative reactive planning agent architecture called JAM. An then we develop an intelligent mobile agent system with reactive planning capability, IMAS, by implementing additional basic actions for agent moves and inter-agent communication within JAM according to the predefined models. Unlike conventional mobile agents. IMAS agents can be able to adapt their behaviors to the dynamic changes of their environments as well as build their own plans autonomously. Thus IMAS agents can show higher flexibility and robustness than the conventional ones.

In this paper we introduce such an environment, the iDorm, which has arisen from our work in careAgents, a project supported by the UK-Korean S&T collaboration fund and the EU's Disappearing Computer Initiative eGadgets project We discuss the research challenges involved, particularly those relating to intelligently associating and configuring large numbers of embedded agents. The paper presents an intelligent association sys...
