어류 모델 메트릭과 물리적 서식지 변수를 이용한 팔당호 유입하천 하류부의 하천건강성 평가 (Stream Health Assessments on Tributaries of Lake Paldang Using Index of Biological Integrity for Fish Community and Physical Habitat Parameters)

  • 2008년 봄, 가을 2회에 걸쳐 팔당호 수계로 유입되는 15개 하천 하류부의 어류의 길드 특성과 생물학적 건강도, 물리적 서식지 건강도를 조사하였다. 어류 분포 조사결과, 총 11과 31속 40종에 속하는 2,745개체가 채집되었으며 고유어종인 줄납자루가 우점하였고, 무갑천(K3)에서는 멸종위기야생동물 II급으로 지정된 둑중개가 채집되었다. 외래종으로는 배스 1종으로 극소수 개체수만 채집되어 외래종에 인한 교란은 적은 것으로 사료된다. 어류 군집 결과를 다변수 건강성 평가 메트릭에 적용한 결과, 팔당호 유입하천 대부분에서 수질에 민감한 민감종과 충식성 어종이 빈약했고 내성종과 잡식종 비율이 높았다. 어류생물지수 평가 결과, 봄과 가을 조사에서 모두 B등급 "양호"를 나타낸 하천은 4개 하천(N1, N4, N5, K3)이었고, 우산천(K1)은 가을철 조사에서 D등급 "악화"로 조사되었다. 수계별로는 북한강으로 유입하는 하천이 가장 양호한 것으로 조사되었다. 물리적 서식지를 평가한 결과, 수계별로는 큰 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났으며 4개 하천(S1, S4, N4, N5)이 II등급(양호)으로 평가되었고 나머지 11개 하천은 III등급(보통)이었다. 대부분의 하천이 인위적인 하천정비 등으로 인하여 수로변경도($M_6$)와 여울빈도 및 하천굴곡도($M_7$) 항목이 낮은 점수를 나타내었다. 조종천(N4)과 문호천(N5)은 생물지수 평가와 물리적 서식지 평가 모두 "양호상태"로 조사되었다.

  • The integrity of nuclear piping systems has to be maintained sufficiently all the times during operation. In order to maintain the integrity, reliable assessment procedures including fracture mechanics analysis, etc, are required. Up to now, the integrity assessment has been performed using conventional deterministic approach even though there are lots of uncertainties to hinder a rational evaluation. In this respect, probabilistic approach is considered as an appropriate method for piping system evaluation. The objectives of this paper are to develop a probabilistic assessment program using reliability index and simulation technique and to estimate the damage probability of wall-thinned pipes in secondary systems. The probabilistic assessment program consists of three evaluation modules which are first order reliability method, second order reliability method and Monte Carlo simulation method. The developed program has been applied to evaluate damage probabilities of wall-thinned pipes subjected to internal pressure, global bending moment and combined loading. The sensitivity analysis results as well as prototypal evaluation results showed a promising applicability of the probabilistic integrity assessment program.

A Study on the DB-IR Integration: Per-Document Basis Online Index Maintenance

  • While database(DB) and information retrieval(IR) have been developed independently, there have been emerging requirements that both data management and efficient text retrieval should be supported simultaneously in an information system such as health care, customer support, XML data management, and digital libraries. The great divide between DB and IR has caused different manners in index maintenance for newly arriving documents. While DB has extended its SQL layer to cope with text fields due to lack of intact mechanism to build IR-like index, IR usually treats a block of new documents as a logical unit of index maintenance since it has no concept of integrity constraint. However, In the DB-IR integrations, a transaction on adding or updating a document should include maintenance of the posting lists accompanied by the document. Although DB-IR integration has been budded in the research filed, the issue will remain difficult and rewarding areas for a while. One of the primary reasons is lack of efficient online transactional index maintenance. In this paper, performance of a few strategies for per-document basis transactional index maintenance - direct index update, pulsing auxiliary index and posting segmentation index - will be evaluated. The result shows that the pulsing auxiliary strategy and posting segmentation indexing scheme, can be a challenging candidates for text field indexing in DB-IR integration.

압출성형기의 스크류 회전속도와 원료수분함량이 대두단백질의 조직화에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Screw Speeds and Moisture Contents on Soy Protein under Texturization Using a Single-screw Extruder)

  • 분리대두단백의 조직화에 대한 스크류 회전속도와 원료 수분함량의 영향을 조사하였다. 수분함량이 증가함에 따라 토출구온도는 감소하였으며 210rpm에서 가장 높은 온도를 나타내었다. 수용성 질소지수는 수분함량이 증가할수록 감소하였으며 고속보다는 저속에서 감소폭이 컸다. 조직잔사지수는 낮은 수분함량과 고속 rpm에서 높게 나타났으며 조직감의 강도는 이와 반대의 경향이었다. 또한 원료의 수분함량이 증가할수록 최종 압출성형물의 수분함량이 증가하였고 고속 rpm일수록 낮은 수분함량을 나타내었다. 밀도의 경향도 이와 일치하였다. 재흡수력의 경우는 수분함량 30%에서 최고치를 나타내었으며 고속 rpm에서 증가하였다. 복원전의 명초는 복원 후 보다 높은 수치를 보였고 고속회전일 수록 명도가 밝아졌다. 성상에 있어서도 저수분, 고속 rpm에서 높은 명도와 높은 정화도가 관찰되었다. 분산분석을 통해서 스크류 회전속도보다 원료의 수분함량이 조직화 성질을 나타내는 각 지표에 더 깊은 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다.

A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON THE ADVANCED PERFORMANCE INDICATOR CONCEPT FOR IMPROVING KINS SAFETY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (SPI)

  • The concept of improved performance indicators (PIs) for use in the KINS Safety Performance Indicator (SPI) program for reactor safety area is proposed in this paper. To achieve this, the recently developed PIs from the USNRC that use risk information were investigated, and a feasibility study for the application of these PIs in Korean NPPs was performed. The investigated PIs are Baseline Risk Index for Initiating Events (BRIIE), Unplanned Scrams with Complications (USwC), and Mitigating System Performance Index (MSPI). Moreover, the thresholds of the existing safety performance indicators of KINS were evaluated in consideration of the risk and regulatory response to different levels of licensee performance in the graded inspection program.

생물보전지수(IBI) 및 서식지 평가지수(QHEI)를 활용한 지하 매립형 방틀둠벙의 어류 서식처 기능 평가 (Evaluation on Functional Assessment for Fish Habitat of Underground type Eco-Artificial Fish Reef using the Index of Biological Integrity (IBI) and Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI))

  • 본 연구는 다변수 접근방식인 서식지평가 정성지수(Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index, QHEI)와 생물보전지수(Index of Biological Integrity, IBI)의 적용방법 도입과 어류 서식 및 피신처 확보용 인공구조물인 방틀둠벙의 정량적인 평가를 목적으로 하였다. 또한, 안동시 남후면 하아리에 소재한 한국건설기술연구원 수자원 환경실험센터의 실외 실험장을 활용하여 실규모로 생물 평가와 검증을 실시하였다. 본 평가기법의 적용을 위해 구성한 실험수로 및 방틀둠벙 시설은 국내 하천의 조건을 최대한 반영하여 조성하였으며, 흐름상태와 정체상태로 구분하여 유속 $0.0{\sim}1.5m\;s^{-1}$, 폭 1.0~3.0 m, 수심 0.05~0.70 m, 다양한 하상재료를 조성하여 2010년 5월~12월의 8개월간 모니터링 하였다. QHEI는 실험수로의 E~F지점이 평균 83.1로 가장 높게 나타났고, B~C지점에서 78.1로 가장 낮게 나타났다. 하지만 방틀둠벙은 시 공간적 구분 없이 98.9 이상의 값을 나타내어 전체 지점 중 가장 높은 양호상태(Good)의 서식처 조건을 유지하였다. IBI는 전반적으로 QHEI와 비슷한 패턴을 나타내었으나 겨울 갈수기에 양호상태(Good)인 44.2를 보여 32.8을 나타낸 실험수로와 비교되었다. 또한, 흐름과 정체상태 조건에서 방틀둠벙의 IBI 값은 실험수로보다 각각 5.7~11.4%, 18.7~34.8% 높은 평가 값을 나타내어, 유량이 적거나 흐름이 없는 갈수기에 어류 서식처 확보 가능성을 정량적으로 시사하였다. 종합적인 수생태계 건강성 평가에서 실험하천은 보통과 양호상태(Fair~Good) 범위를 나타낸 반면, 방틀둠벙은 대부분 양호상태(Good)를 보여 수생태계 건강성 확보에 적용 가능함을 도출하였다.

철도차량 구조물의 확률론적 피로수명 평가 (Probabilistic Fatigue Life Evaluation of Rolling Stock Structures)

  • Rolling stock structures such as bogie frame and car body play an important role for the support of vehicle leading. In general, more than 25 years' durability is needed for them. A lot of study has been carried out for the prediction of the fatigue life of the bogie frame and car body in experimental and theoretical domains. One of the new methods is a probabilistic fatigue lift evaluation. The objective of this paper is to estimate the fatigue lift of the bogie frame of an electric car, which was developed by the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI). We used two approaches. In the first approach probabilistic distribution of S-N curve and limit state function of the equivalent stress of the measured stress spectra are used. In the second approach, limit state function is also used. And load spectra measured by strain gauges are approximated by the two-parameter Weibull distribution. Other probabilistic variables are represented by log-normal and normal distributions. Finally, reliability index and structural integrity of the bogie frame are estimated.

생태 건강성 평가로서 분자지표에서 군집지표 수준까지의 다양한 변수분석 (Analysis of Various Ecological Parameters from Molecular to Community Levels for Ecological Health Assessments)

  • This study was carried out to analyze some influences on ecological health conditions, threaten by various stressors such as physical, chemical and biological parameters. We collected samples in 2008 from three zones of upstream, midstream and downstream, Gap Stream. We applied multi-metric fish assessment index (MFAI), based on biotic integrity model to the three zones along with habitat evaluations based on Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI). We also examined fish fauna and compositions, and analyzed relations with MFAI values, QHEI values, and various guild types. Chemical parameters such as oragnic matter (BOD, COD), nutrients (TP, $NH_3$-N), coli-form number (as MPN), and suspended solids (SS) were analyzed to identify the relationship among multiple stressor effects. Using the sentinel species of Zacco platypus, the population structures and condition factors were analyzed along with DNA damages related with genotoxicant effects by comet assay. This study using all these parameters showed that stream condition was degraded along the longitudinal gradient from upstream to downstream, and the downstream, especially, was impacted by nutrient enrichment and toxicant exposure from the point source, wastewater treatment plant. Overall results indicated that our approaches applying various parameters may be used as a cause-effect technique in the stream health assessments and also used as a pre-warning tool for diagnosis of ecological degradation.

우리나라 주요하천 수계에서 다변수모델을 이용한 생태학적 수환경 평가 (Ecological Assessments of Aquatic Environment using Multi-metric Model in Major Nationwide Stream Watersheds)

  • The objective of this research was to develop ecological multi-metric models using natural fish assemblages for a diagnosis of current stream health condition, and apply the model to nationwide lotic ecosystems of the Geum River, the Youngsan River, and the Sumjin River. The ecological stream health model was based on the index of biological integrity (IBI), which was originally developed in North American streams by Karr (1981), and the Rapid Bioassessment Protocol (RBP), which was scientifically established by the US EPA (1999). The metric numbers and metric attributes were partially changed for the regional applications, so the scoring criteria was modified for the assessment. Overall, metric values, based on the IBI calculations, reflected conventional water quality characteristics, based on nutrient regime, and agreed with results of staticeco-toxicity tests. Some stations impaired in terms of stream health were identified by the IBI approach, and also major key stressors affecting the stream health were identified by additional evaluations of physical habitats. Our preliminary results suggested that biological integrity in stream ecosystems was largely disturbed by habitat degradation as well as chemical pollutions. This new approach would be used as a key tool for ecological restorations and species conservations in the degraded aquatic ecosystems in Korea and applied for elucidating major causes of ecological disturbances. Ultimately, this approach provides us an effective management strategy of stream ecosystems through establishments of ecological networks in various watersheds.
