  • Electricity has become a factor that dramatically affects the market economy. The day-ahead system marginal price determines electricity prices, and system marginal price forecasting is critical in maintaining energy management systems. There have been several studies using mathematics and machine learning models to forecast the system marginal price, but few studies have been conducted to develop, compare, and analyze various machine learning and deep learning models based on a data-driven framework. Therefore, in this study, different machine learning algorithms (i.e., autoregressive-based models such as the autoregressive integrated moving average model) and deep learning networks (i.e., recurrent neural network-based models such as the long short-term memory and gated recurrent unit model) are considered and integrated evaluation metrics including a forecasting test and information criteria are proposed to discern the optimal forecasting model. A case study of South Korea using long-term time-series system marginal price data from 2016 to 2021 was applied to the developed framework. The results of the study indicate that the autoregressive integrated moving average model (R-squared score: 0.97) and the gated recurrent unit model (R-squared score: 0.94) are appropriate for system marginal price forecasting. This study is expected to contribute significantly to energy management systems and the suggested framework can be explicitly applied for renewable energy networks.

  • The existing e-learning systems have short functions for learners to lead their self-directed learning activities because those systems have not been integrated with functions supporting activities of learners, instructors and operators. Therefore, we designed and implemented an efficient e-learning system having fully integrated functions to let learners induce their active learning, instructors teach learners effectively and evaluate their learning activities, and operators handle curriculum affairs and system environments.

  • This study intended to evaluate the viability of cyber education in terms of learning satisfaction and learning achievement. The study integrated two research streams such as social presence model and learning environment model. Where the learning environment model emphasizes the components of learning aids, social presence model considers more deeply the relationships among peers and with instructors. These two research streams have been considered relatively independently. The study integrated these ideas and measured their reliabilities and validities. The results demonstrate that the two constructs are relevantly independent and both of these constructs are very important considerations for the success of cyber education. The study concludes that cyber education 2.0 requires more social presence factors than the learning environment factors such as technological development or new equipments.

  • The purpose of this study presents a model of the integrated online library service with LMS (Learning Management System). The new library service is called 'Library on Blackboard' which was developed and implemented by Murray State University Libraries in Murray, Kentucky, USA. This user-centered service with applied information technology has the potential to enhance the quality of the library performance in university libraries. The introduction of the Learning Management System in South Korea has a potential to enhance the education environment and promote new library services. With the emergence of new information technologies and growing popularity in online classes and distance education programs, the importance and usage of Learning Management Systems in higher education has increased.

  • Performance management of computer networks is intended to improve a given network performance in order for more efficient information exchange between subsystems of an integrated large-scale system. Improtance of performance management is growing as many function of the large- scale system depend on the quality of communication services provided by the network. The role of performance management is to manipulate the adjustable protocol parameters on line so that the network can adapt itself to a dynamic environment. This can be divided into two subtasks : performance evaluation to find how changes in protocol parameters affect the network performance and decision making to detemine the magnitude and direction of parameter adjustment. This paper is the second part of the two papers focusing on conceptual design, development, and evaluation of performance management for token bus networks. This paper specifically deals with the task of decision making which utilizes the principles of stochastic optimization and learning automata. The developed algorithm can adjuxt four timer settings of a token bus protocol based on the result of performance evaluation. The overall performance management has been evaluated for its efficacy on a network testbed.

  • Service-learning is a form of experiential education in which students participate in organized activities and develop a sense of civic responsibility while acquiring content knowledge of the discipline. The purpose of this study was first, to examine the underlying theories and principles of service-learning, and second, to present a case of systemic implementation of problem-based service-learning into a Product Innovation and Management class in higher education. The New Product Development for an E-Commerce Small Business project was developed for a community partner, BevShots, reflecting the needs of the firm, and was tightly woven into the course content. Students' participation in the project had a significant effect on increasing their awareness of the needs in the community and identifying their roles as citizens as well as enhancing their content knowledge learning. The community partner also received benefits for his business by participating in the project. Through this study, we aim to inspire fashion design and merchandising educators to implement service-learning projects/classes in the curriculum.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to apply artificial intelligence technology efficiently to integrated security control technology. In other words, by applying machine learning learning to artificial intelligence based on big data collected in integrated security control system, cyber attacks are detected and appropriately responded. As technology develops, many large capacity Is limited to analyzing individual logs. The analysis method should also be applied to the integrated security control more quickly because it needs to correlate the logs of various heterogeneous security devices rather than one log. We have newly proposed an integrated security service model based on artificial intelligence, which analyzes and responds to these behaviors gradually evolves and matures through effective learning methods. We sought a solution to the key problems expected in the proposed model. And we developed a learning method based on normal behavior based learning model to strengthen the response ability against unidentified abnormal behavior threat. In addition, future research directions for security management that can efficiently support analysis and correspondence of security personnel through proposed security service model are suggested.

  • This paper presents the development of intelligent performance management of computer communication networks for larger-scale integrated systems and the demonstration of its efficacy using computer simula- tion. The innermost core of the performance management is based on fuzzy set theory. This fuzzy perfor- mance manager has learning ability by using principles of neuro-fuzzy model, neuralnetwork, genetic algo- rithm(GA). Two types of performance managers are described in this paper. One is the Neuro-Fuzzy Per- formance Manager(NFPM) of which learning ability is based on the conventional gradient method, and the other is GA-based Neuro-Fuzzy Performance Manager(GNFPM)with its learning ability based on a genetic algorithm. These performance managers have been evaluated via discrete event simulation of a computer network.
