In general the impulse sound sources of underwater generated by electric arc discharge had used static energy of the charged capacitors. The author proposed an underwater arc discharge sound source using secondary voltage of high voltage transformer without capacitors. The arc discharge device was composed of a high voltage transformer and a switching system. The impulse current in the primary turn of the high voltage transformer is controlled by the switching system and inductive current of the secondary turn in the high voltage transformer is used in making impulsive arc discharge. A series of experiment have been carried out to observe the acoustic characteristics of the impulse sound source generated by the arc discharge. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Secondary current at the time of arc discharge keeps after ohm's law in the beginning and the maximum current flows out as soon as arc discharge breaks out. 2. A time difference between a start of applied current and a generation of arc discharge sound is the 3msec and it is generated arc sound when breaking down electric insulation at maximum voltage. 3. The sharper the end of electrodes and the higher the secondary voltage, the higher the sound pressure level. 4. Arc discharge sound was generated even at the distance of 100cm between electrodes and was stably reproductive at the gap of 1cm to 100cm. 5. Electric arc discharge sound wave is a shock wave of pulse-width of 0.15msec and spectral distribution of it is plenty of low frequency components less than 10 KHz.
Due to the complicated plan structure of the apartment units and the improved room-to-room sound insulation performance, it is difficult to communicate and recognize the fire situation by emergency broadcast equipment. In this study, speech intelligibility was measured and analyzed for three types of apartment unit by emergency broadcast equipment on various measurement points. Simulations were also conducted to improve the speech intelligibility. As a result of field measurements 72, 84, and 101 Type were not satisfied with NFSC standard of 90 dBA at the point of 1 m distance from source. In addition, it was evaluated that 75 dBA and CIS 0.7 of NFPA standard was not satisfied at all measurement points except for the 72 Type at living room point with door opened condition. Based on the door opened condition of the bedroom, it satisfied the NFPA of 75 dBA and CIS 0.7 in each bedroom when more than 90 dBA was satisfied at the 1 m separation point provided in NFSC standard.
National and international standards for curtain wall glass are focused on wind pressure and insulation performance, but disasters such as fires and earthquakes are not considered. Failure of curtain wall glass during a fire in a skyscraper increases the loss of lives and property due to the spread of fire. Therefore, the fire resistance of curtain wall glass should be investigated, and technology to prevent glass failure should be developed to prevent fire damage due to spreading fire. It is important to predict the starting point of cracks and the cause of glass failure to prevent it effectively using the limited water in a skyscraper. In this study, double glazed glass was exposed to a radiator in an experiment performed to analyze the thermal characteristics. The results show that glass that was not directly exposed to high temperature and pressure was broken. To identify this failure case, numerical analysis was performed. Three glass specimens were installed in an ISO 9705 room and exposed to radiation using a radiator, and a thermocouple was used to measure the temperature on the surface of the glass. Widely used double glazed glass was analyzed for weakness to fire.
In this study, EIFS (Exterior insulation finish system) of exterior cladding was applied Cone calorimeter test to confirm the effect of flame retardant. As a results, the initial ignition points in accordance with the coated form and concentration of the flame retardant was delayed. But flame resistant treatment of EIFS cladding to control the fire will not affect confirmed that. In addition, EIFS that uses high-density and low-density due to difference in the density of the impact of the fire was no difference. The exterior of the ignition experiment occurred before and after 40 seconds, heat release rate to 100 seconds appears to occur about 90 % compared with the other exterior wall materials, the initial fire spread very fast was confirmed. EIFS cladding in order to prevent the spread of fire in the application of EIFS legally use is limited by the use of the building. And flame spread can be prevented, such as a vertical outer wall compartment measures are urgently needed.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermoregulatory responses to postures under different environmental conditions and to obtain the basal information for standard clothing weight, indoor climates, and working condition. Two adult female (22.5yrs, 46kg) were participated in this study. The experimental conditions were divided into three groups ; 1) comfort($27{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$), 2) hot($34{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$), and 3) cold($21{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $50{\pm}10%$) condition. The postures performed were as follows; standing, sitting on the chair, sitting on the floor, and supine on the floor. At each condition, subjective sensations, 12 points skin temperature, rectal temperature, total and local sweat rate, pulse rates, blood pressure, skin blood flow rate were measured. The results were as follows : 1. Rectal temperature was high significant among groups in order of supine, sitting on the floor, sitting on the chair, standing posture(p<0.01). 2. Skin temperature was high in part of contact with the surface of the floor or wall and the effect of posture was greater in peripheral temperature than torso temperature. Sitting on the chair and sitting on the floor posture showed higher peripheral temperature than standing and supine posture. And peripheral temperature was lower in supine posture than any other postures. 3. Total and local sweat rate were decreased in order of standing, sitting on the chair, sitting on the floor, supine posture. 4. Pulse rate and disastolic blood pressure were higher in standing posture than supine posture, and there was significant difference between two postures(p<0.001). 5. Blood flow rate of thigh was high in sitting on the chair and sitting on the floor posture and low in standing posture. Blood flow rate of leg was low in standing posture significantly(p<0.01). 6. In comfort and hot condition, temperature sensation and comfort sensation were higher in standing posture and lower in supine posture than any other postures. In cold condition, temperature sensation was lower and comfort sensation was higher in standing and supine posture than any other postures. And supine posture was appeared positive in hot condition and negative in cold condition. From this study, we confirmed the effects of posture on human thermoregulatory responses. Results indicate that even under same conditions and clothing weight, the insulation of clothing will be different to postures.
An investigation was conducted on the activities around Europe in order to solve the problem of the thermal bridging of steel studs, which had caused a significant disadvantage. This study included the following: diminishing the contact area between the studs and the sheathing, lengthening the heat transfer route, replacing the steel web with a less conductive material, and placing foam insulation in locations where the thermal shorts are most critical. Although energy efficiency is usually the focus of such foreign cases because their stud application is mostly limited to low-rise residential buildings, both structural and thermal performance are taken into consideration in this study because these target middle-story buildings. A hybrid stud composed of steel and polymer was also developed. This hybrid stud, which is 150 SL in size, is made of a galvanized steel sheet (SGC58) and a glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) withepoxy bonding. A total of 32 specimens were manufactured. Its parameters comprise two types of connection detail,s: the thickness of steel (1.0mm and 1.2mm) and of the GFRP (4mm-4ply and 6mm-6ply), and the ratio of the length to the depth (L/D = 3, 6, 9, 12). Steel stud specimens with the same conditions were compared to the hybrid stud. The test revealed that in the case of the steel specimen with a thickness of 1.0mm, the maximum load of hybrid studs increased an average of 1.62 times comparedto that of the steel stud. In the case of the steel specimen with a thickness of 1.2mm, on the other hand, the average increase was 1.46times. All specimens showed full composite action until the collapse.

In this work we have studied the antifouling properties of the hydrophobic sol-gel modified sensing membrane and its optical properties for sensor application. E. coli JM109, B. cereus 318 and P. pastoris X-33 were cultivated in confocal cultivation dishes with glass surface, respectively. The glass surface was coated with the hydrophobic sol-gels prepared by the dimethoxy-dimethyl-silane (DiMe-DMOS) and tetramethyl-orthosilicate (TMOS). After cultivation, microorganisms adhered on the surface coated with sol-gels and glass surface were dyed by gram-staining method and the numbers of microorganisms were analyzed based on the image data of the scanning electronic microscope (SEM). A great number of microorganisms, about $2{\sim}3{\times}10^4/mm^2$, was adhered on the glass surfaces which no hydrophobic sol-gels were coated. But, the antifouling effect of the hydrophobic sol-gels was large, that microorganisms of less than $200{\sim}300/mm^2$ were adhered on the coated glass surface. The performance of the sensing membranes for detection of pH and dissolved oxygen was enhanced by recoating the light insulation layer prepared with the mixture of the hydrophobic sol-gel and graphite particles.

While perfluoroalkane (PFA), a liquid state nucleating agent for a rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF) to enhance the thermal insulation property, has the excellent nucleating characteristics, it is very expensive as well as environmentally harmful due to the fluoride compound. Many researches, therefore, have been performed to develop the alternative nucleating agents to replace PFA. In the present work, a multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was used as a sloid state nucleating agent, and thereby the effects on the property changes of the RPUF were carried out. Average cell size decreased from 165.6 for base RPUF to $162.9{\mu}m$ and cell uniformity was also enhanced, showing the standard cell-size deviation of 45.6 and 35.2, respectively. While k-factor of base PUF was $0.01763kcal/m.hr.^{\circ}C$, that of the sample with 0.01 phr MWCNT showed 1.02% reduced value of $0.01745kcal/m.hr.^{\circ}C$. Though the compressive yield stress is nearly the same as $0.030{\times}105Pa$ for the both samples, initial modulus of the sample with 0.01 phr MWCNT was higher than that of base sample. it was considered as the results that small amount of MWCNT could play a sufficient role as the effective nucleating agent for RPUF, showing that an echo-friendly RPUF with reduced-cost could be fabricated, which has an enhanced thermal and mechanical properties.

A test apparatus has been fabricated to simulate chemical effect on head loss through a strainer in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) containment water pool after a loss of coolant accident (LOCA). Tests were conducted under condition of same ratio of strainer surface area to water volume between the test appratus and the containment sump. A series of tests have been performed to investigate the effects of spray, existence of calcium-silicate with tri-sodium phosphate (TSP), and composition of materials. The results showed that head loss across the chemical bed with even a small amount of calcium-silicate insulation instantaneously increased as soon as TSP was added to the test solution. Also, the head loss across the test screen is strongly affected by spray duration and is increased rapidly at the early stage, because of high dissolution and precipitation of aluminum and zinc. After passivation of aluminum and zinc by corrosion, the head loss increase is much slowed down and is mainly induced by materials such as calcium, silicon, and magnesium leached from NUKONTM and concrete. Furthermore, it is newly found that the spay buffer agent, tri-sodium phosphate, to form protective coating on the aluminum surface and reduce aluminum leaching is not effective for a large amount of aluminum and a long spray.
