Thoracoscopic Patch Insulation for Phrenic Nerve Stimulation after Permanent Pacemaker Implantation

  • One of the complications of permanent pacemaker implantation is unintended phrenic nerve stimulation. A 15-year-old boy with a permanent pacemaker presented with chest discomfort due to synchronous chest wall contraction with pacing beats. Even after reprogramming of the pacemaker, diaphragmatic stimulation persisted. Therefore, we performed thoracoscopic phrenic nerve insulation using a Gore-Tex patch to insulate the phrenic nerve from the wire. A minimally invasive approach using a thoracoscope is a feasible option for retractable phrenic nerve stimulation after pacemaker implantation.

  • In order to develope the uniform Plasma source which is able to make polymer or glass surface modification, the d.c glow discharge characteristics for the hemisphere -cylindrical electrode system with external d.c magnetic field are investigated. Single probe method has been used for detecting plasma parameters. We make uniform plasma generated to the external of electrode between hemisphere and cylindrical electrode. The surface treatment of metal and insulate has been performed by this uniform plasma.

  • The majority of sensors currently being used for measuring current need to contact with conductor carrying current. Therefore it is not easy to measure and insulate. In order to figure the solution out, the remote power measurement system is introduced in this paper. The system developed here enables us to measure the current of the commercial power without contact by using Rogowski Coil and wireless communication method. Measured current is processed for the wireless transmission, then is transferred to the computer through wireless receiver. The data arrived at the computer is displayed on the screen as waveform.

  • In this Paper, we present the method to determine the insulate deterioration of transformers sticking the temperature sensor to the distribution transformers and analyzing the trend of temperature. And we present the method to make economical on-line system using the PCS and RF modem instead of the conventional method of measuring the data by manager. Also we deal with the method to make database for the distribution transformers.

  • After determining the type and string condition of conductor of 765kV transmission lines, we studied the mechanical strength system of insulator strings to support conductors and insulate conductors from towers. In this paper, for the insulator strings which will be used in 765kV transmission lines, we're going to optimally determine the mechanical strength system and supporting method in the consideration of the reliability, economics and the survey data of T/L routes, and also suggest the calculation method to stipulate for the application limits of suspension and strain insulator strings according to the loadspan and height difference of tower.

  • The temperature rise of GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) busbar system is a vital factor that affects its performance. In this paper, a two-dimensional model is presented by commercial code CFX11 for the evaluation of natural convection in the busbar system. In the model, SF6 (Sulfur Hexafluoride) is used to insulate the high voltage device and improves the heat transfer rate. The power losses of a busbar calculated by the magnetic field analysis are used as the input data to predict the temperature rise by the nature convection analysis. The heat-transfer coefficients on the boundaries are analytically calculated by applying the Nusselt number considering material property and model geometry for the natural convection. The temperatures of the tank and conductors from CFX simulation and the experiment were compared. The results show a good agreement. In the future, we will calculate the 3-D model and try to reduce the temperature by adjusting some dimensional parameters.

  • In this paper, to developing thermally and mechanically upgraded ones, we dismounted pole transformers used in the fields for over 13 years and conducted aged oil analysis. Also, when the cellulose and aramid papers in test cell were aging with oil at $130^{\circ}C$ for 3000 hours, with the testing period cellulose paper deteriorated more rapidly than the others. For example dielectric strength and dissipation factor of papers deteriorated with aging time. For evaluation of thermal aging characteristics, a mineral oil-immersed transformer was constructed with hybrid insulation system comprised of aramid paper and cellulose insulation. A Hybrid system has economic advantages. Cellulose materials are confined to cooler regions of the transformer winding. And aramid papers are served to insulate contact parts of hot conductors.

  • In this paper, the magnetic fields measured experimentally from the electric home appliances were evaluated and the data were discussed on the bases of the international institutes recommendations. It is difficult to insulate magnetic flux completely from electric home appliances and impossible to simulate theoretically because of the different directions and magnitudes of magnetic fields according to the internal current of electric home appliances. The experimental measurements of magnetic flux density were carried out according to the increment of distance in the vicinity of electric home appliances. The magnetic flux density produced by the electric home appliances was drastically dropped with the increment of distance. The measured and analysed results of electric home appliances of 15 including computer monitor, TV, etc. were presented.
