미국 대학도서관 이용지도의 발달

  • Since educating all students in learning how to learn and iic\il- to adapt thernselves to the changing society is the most desirable :.:.il:ii of education in the modern world, it is necessary that the library hc:one an increasingly important part of the students' learng activities. The development of the desire and necessary skills to seek mi! to acquire lino~vledge should be encouraged and planned by the acac:e:liic library. The effective instruction in the use of academic lihra1.1.- can provide the students with the cspxbility to carry on their own icL,i.!nal education through their life. This paper is to make a brief trace of the development of liGl-ary instruction in American universities and colleges oiyer the decades, providing the overview of many successful components of saxe representative projects and experiments, from which to clarify coi~in;on problems and principles involl-ed in them. Any one of standard approaches so far identified has turned o:lt to be not a perfect method in that each has its own merits and pl-oblcms. It may be that the process of analysis and evaluation is 1-aluab!e for better comprehensive perspectives in future program of the instr~iction in the use of academic libraries. An effort is sincerely made to giie an impetus to the recogrriiivn of the importance of library instruction in Korean academic .yorid to meet the urgent needs of the modern society.

Effects of 5E Learning-Cycle Model on Science Academic Achievements, Science Process Skill and Scientific Attitude of Elementary School Students (5E 순환학습이 초등학생의 과학 학업 성취도와 탐구 능력 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of academic achievements, science process skill and scientific attitude. The subjects of this study were 68 fourth-grade elementary school students who were 33 students for the 5E learning cycle instruction and 35 students for traditional instruction. The control group was taught with traditional teaching method, while the experimental group was taught 'the change to the volume of material due to heat' unit of 4th grade with the developed learning cycle model. The results were as fellows: First, the learning cycle instruction is more effective for understanding of a concept related to the change to the volume of material due to heat. Second, the learning cycle model seems more effective for the expansion of both scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude.

Analysis of Mathematical Quality of Instruction between Preservice and Inservice Mathematics Teachers (MQI를 이용한 예비교사와 현직교사의 수학수업의 질 분석)

  • This study analyzed the quality of mathematics classes with observations using the instrument, MQI(Mathematical Quality of Instruction). Class recordings and interviews were conducted on 2 pre-service teachers and 4 in-service teachers. This study recorded and analyzed 3 or 4 classes for each mathematics teacher by using revised MQI. There were a total of 8 raters: 2 or 3 raters analyzed each class. MQI has four dimensions: Richness of the Mathematics, Working with Students and Mathematic, Errors and Imprecision, Student Participation in Meaning-Making and Reasoning. In the dimension of 'Richness of Mathematics', all teachers had good scores of 'explanations of teacher' but had lower scores of 'linking and connections', 'multiple procedures or solution methods' and 'developing mathematical generalizations.' In the dimension of 'Working with Students and Mathematics', two in-service teachers who have worked and having more experience had higher scores than others. In the dimension of 'Errors and Imprecision', all teachers had high scores. In the dimension of 'Student Participation in Meaning-Making and Reasoning', two pre-service teachers had contrast and also two in-service teachers who hadn't worked not long had contrast. Implications were deducted from finding to improving quality of mathematics classes.

An evaluation on the quality of mathematics instruction for 8th grade based on the instructional quality profile (교수 질 프로필(IQP)에 기반한 중학교 2학년 수학과 교수의 질 분석)

  • This study was conducted as a part of the project to evaluate the quality of mathematics instruction in the national curriculum system. The purpose of this study is to measure the consistency between teaching goals of mathematics curriculum, contents presentation of textbooks, and testing including adequacy of each element in mathematics instruction for 8th grade. To do this, we used MIQP (instructional quality profile for Mathematics) developed basing on the instructional quality profile (IQP) in the previous research of the project. First, the quality of textbooks' content presentation for 8th grade was found that the desirable levels in number and operation area and geometric area was relatively less compared to other areas, but it was generally good. Second, it was found that the quality of mathematics testing for 8th grade was good in terms of consistency with the curriculum's teaching goals, consistency with the content presentation of textbooks, and adequacy of testing. However, regional differences in the quality of testing showed that there were some deficiencies in regions outside the metropolitan.

The Effect of Home Economics Instruction Applying Flipped and Problem-Based Learning on Middle-School Students' Metacognition Skill (거꾸로 문제중심학습(FPBL)을 적용한 가정과 수업이 중학생의 메타인지에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of Home Economics Instruction applying Flipped and Problem-Based Learning (FPBL) on Korean middle-school students' metacognition skill. The study uses a pre-post design test of the same group. There were 151 participants (77 male and 74 female) who were middle-school students in the third grade. Two hours of classes on 'Food Selection and Storage' were given per week for three weeks - a total of six hours. Analysis using the t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test, supporting the conclusion that participating in the class improved the metacognition, food selection, and storage behavior scores of the middle-school students. All area scores and overall averages of metacognitive sub-elements such as planning, monitoring, regulation, and evaluation also improved after taking FPBL classes. From the results of this study, Home Economics Instruction applying FPBL is an effective teaching method for improving middle-school students' metacognition.

A Comparative Analysis of the Method of Evaluation of Character Competence in High School Chemistry Classes Based on Collaborative Problem-Solving for Competency(CoProC) Instruction Model (협력적 문제해결 중심 교수모델(CoProC)을 적용한 고등학교 화학 수업에서의 인성역량 평가 방법에 대한 비교 분석)

  • The study applied chemistry classes based on Collaborative Problem-Solving for Competency(CoProC) Instruction Model to 86 high school seniors and recognized the resulting changes in Character Competence through character competence test, analysis of argumentation, and analysis of reflective writing. In addition, the analysis of the correlation between the assessment results showed what each evaluation method meant to assess Character Competence. The study found that the average score of Character Competence rose in all three assessments, but differences were found in the detailed factors. Character competency test is meaningful in helping students participate with a sense of mastery of learning as a self-evaluation, and the analysis of the argumentation process seems to be an appropriate evaluation method to evaluate the Character Competence shown by students' words and actions through course evaluations. An analysis of reflective writing showed the advantage of being able to analyze Character competencies that are difficult to show in action by looking back on the entire course of learning. In addition, given that the correlation between the three assessment results is very low, it is expected that the three Character competency assessment methods will be conducted together to obtain detailed and comprehensive information on students' character competencies.

  • It is general that the ICAI(Intelligent Computer Assisted Instruction) consists of 4 modules. Export module, Teacher module, Student module and Interface module. In each module construction, there should be some rules to control strategies efficiently and systematically that are related to the texts and assessment instruments, assessment results and evaluation, feedback, etc. It is necessary to use a method to classify the curriculum into sections with units and to represent the identified relationships between them. These relationships are available to all the process of learning, assessment, evaluation and feedback. In this paper, we propose the method to represent these units and relationships as a graph. In addition, we implement an internet-based courseware authoring tool to support the environment in which several expert can construct concurrently the courseware with cooperation between them.

  • Web-based distance teacher training should focus on increasing self-directed problem solving skills of trainers by problem-based instruction(PBL). Performance assessment evaluates achievement of learning goals through the practical performance learning to solve problems in the real situation. This study proposes a web-based performance assessment model for the distance teacher training. It reflects fairness and objectiveness issues of performance assessment which elementary teachers are concerned about through the survey on distance teacher training, and relieves instructors from overload of managing and scoring performance tests. The proposed model provides problem-based learning situations, interactions between individuals and groups, and web-based cooperative evaluation and the peer evaluation.

  • The aim of this study is to show that using a Web-Based Instruction system is a better method to help counteract deficient teaching, learning conditions and facilities thus improving the students' interest, understanding, participation and skill development in Physical Education. The key findings of this study are as follows; The first advantage of using this system is that the theory of Softball is explained with the use of pictures rather than text, thus improving the students' understanding. The second is the method in which practical skills are explained and demonstrated. Action image sequences are used as opposed to the old method of using stationary pictures. This means that the learners can clearly see and understand why and, more importantly, how to use these skills. The third advantage is the technique used to teach the application of these skills. Using active rather than passive learning and thus engaging the student encourages improved participation and learning. The fourth advantage comes in evaluation: both subjective and objective questions are asked in theoretical evaluation, and the teachers can evaluate the students' understanding and skill development by filming their actual Softball games.   • The purpose of this study was to verity the effect of project method on the task performance ability in development of a solar-tracking-control-system of specialized high school. In order to carry out this study, 2 classes of technical high school in Jeonbuk are chosen as experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught by project method and the control group was taught by traditional instruction. Project method was designed by 4 stages-selection of goal, planning, implementation and evaluation. According to these stages, experimental group's students carried out the project that developing solar tracking control system in solar generation. The results of this study are as follows; the project method was more effective than the traditional instruction in planning ability for task performance and implementation ability, subordinates of task performance ability. However, information gathering ability and evaluation ability on task performance, others in subordinates, it is not clear that the project method is more effective.
