컴퓨터와 네트워크의 보급이 일반화되면서 인터넷을 통한 정보 전달이 일상 생활처럼 되고 있다. 기존에는 정보를 전달하기 위한 방법이 주로 전자메일에 한정되오 있던 것에 반해, 요즘은 좀 더 즉각적으로 메시지를 전달해주는 인스턴트메신저를 많이 사용하고 있다. 인스턴트 메신저는 이러한 장점으로 인해 국내에서도 사용자가 급속하게 늘고 있다. 현재 사용되고 있는 대부분의 인스턴트 메신저는 전송되는 정보가 아무런 보호장치 없이 네트워크를 통해 전송되어 제 3자에 의한 도청이 가능하게 된다. 따라서 전송되는 정보의 암호화를 포함하는 안전한 인스턴트 메신저 서비스의 필요성이 대두되고있다. 본 논문에서 제안된 안전한 인스턴트 메신저는 사용자 개인이 메신저 서버에게 전송하는 개인정보를 암호화하고, 사용자간에 전송되는 정보를 선택적으로 암호화하여 잠재적인 보안문제를 해결하였다. 그리고 시스템 설계는 일반 사용자도 쉽게 사용할 수 있도록 사용자 편의성에 중점을 두었다.

모바일 사용자가 모바일에서 머무르는 시간이 점점 급증함에 따라 카카오톡, 라인 등의 모바일 인스턴트 메신저 시장이 급성장 하였다. 지금까지 대부분의 정보시스템연구 분야에서는 사용자의 재사용 의도나 지속사용에 대한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔으나 특정 시스템을 실질적으로나 감정적으로 의지하는 단계인 의존도에 대한 연구는 미흡하다. 본 연구에서는 기술수용모형, 정보시스템 성공모형을 기반으로 모바일 인스턴트 메신저 의존도에 선행요인들을 밝힘으로써, 사용자의 모바일 인스턴트 메신저 의존과정을 전반적으로 설명하였다.

본 논문에서는 다양한 촉감 구성 요소들을 조합하여 촉감 정보를 생성하는 촉감 조합기를 개발하고, 개발된 촉감 조합기를 인스턴트 메신저 기반의 촉감 공유 시스템에 적용하였다. 촉감 공유 시스템은 촉감의 시각적 정보를 담고 있는 배경 이미지와 그 위에 기록되는 촉감 정보를 관리하는 촉감보드를 원격지의 사용자와 실시간으로 공유하는 환경 공유 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 촉감 공유 시스템을 최근 인스턴트 메신저 서비스에서 제공하는 간단한 플러그인 형태로 개발하였다. 따라서, 본 시스템을 위해 개발된 촉감 조합기는 사람의 촉감 정보를 구성하는 주요 요소들만으로 간단히 정의하고, 생성 및 편집, 공유를 목적으로 설계하였다.

유선 인터넷에서 인스턴트 메신저는 간단한 질문/확인, 만남이나 작업 조정, 사회적인 친교 등을 위해 광범위하게 활용되고 있다. 이를 무선으로 확장하기 위하여 MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, 버디버디, 네이트온 등이 모바일용 메신저를 내놓고 있다. 특히 한국 10대의 경우 SMS를 실시간 대화에 가깝게 (짧고 빈번하게) 사용하고 있기 때문에 무선 메신저는 큰 호응이 있으리라 예상하였다. 그러나 네이트온 모바일 메신저의 경우, 2002년 출시된 이후 별다른 인기를 끌지 못하고 있다. 이에 저자들은 네이트온 사용자들의 사용행태를 분석하여 문제점을 파악하고, 일반 SMS 사용자들과 네이트온 사용자들의 무선 커뮤니케이션 사용행태를 1주일간의 Diary Study에 기초한 Contextual Inquiry (Intermittent)를 실시하여 사용률이 저조한 이유를 분석한 뒤, 퍼소나를 구성하여 무선 환경에 맞는 완전히 혁신적인 새로운 형태의 무선 메신저 사용자 인터페이스를 설계하였다. 메신저에 반드시 있는 사용자 등록이나 친구 추가 기능을 없애고 휴대전화 번호 기반으로 동작하며, 상태 정보(Presence)를 없애면서 상대방 상태에 따라 IM 혹은 SMS로 적절히 변환되어 전달되는 것이 주요 특징이다. 이를 사용자들을 통해 다시 검증해 본 결과 사용자들이 무척 쉽게 받아들이는 것을 발견하였다.

The mobile instant messengers could change the lives of average citizens as much as did the telephone in the early part of the 20th century and television in the 1950s and 1960s. Researchers are debating whether the mobile instant messengers are improving or harming participation in community life and social relationships. For this study, 155 participants in two universities completed questionnaires pertaining to their own mobile instant messengers use and feelings of loneliness. We used survey data to examine the effects of the mobile instant messengers on social involvement and psychological well-being. In this sample, the mobile instant messengers were used extensively for communication. Results suggest that greater use of the mobile instant messengers were associated with declines in participants' communication with the people around which in turn increases their loneliness. These findings have implications for research and for the design of technology.

In this paper, we classify web-based social network into two types: open and community, and model user behavior in social activities. After that, we also propose the combination of instant messaging and web system as the method of support asynchronous/synchronous social activities. Furthermore, we introduce ImCoWeb prototype system that supports both asynchronous social activities (ex. social bookmark, comment, rate, and data share) and synchronous ones (ex. real-time communication, file transfer, co-browsing, and co-work). Because it is built on the existing instant messaging, it reduces costs by reusing the facilities such as session management, user management, and security of instant messaging.

With the convenience of real-time conversation, multimedia file and contact sharing services, most people use instant messenger, and its usage time is increasing. Because the messengers contain a lot of user behavior information data, in the digital forensic investigation, they can be very useful evidence to identify user behavior. However, some of useful data can be difficult to acquire or recognize because they are encrypted or deleted. Thus, in order to use the messenger data as evidence, the study of message decryption process and message recovery is essential. In this paper, we analyze the database encryption process of the instant messenger, MalangMalang Talkafe, and propose the method to decrypt it. In addition, we propose the methods to identify the deleted messages and recover from the volatile memory area.

메신저는 인터넷을 통해 실시간으로 대화를 주고받을 수 있는 소프트웨어로서 사용률이 점차 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 메신저의 사용률이 증가함에 따라 메신저를 사이버 범죄의 하나의 도구로써 이용하는 사례가 발생하고 있다. 메신저가 사이버 범죄에 악용되는 사례가 늘어나면서 전 세계적으로 MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ와 같은 외산 메신저 소프트웨어 대한 포렌식 연구가 활발히 진행 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 국내에서 사용되고 있는 메신저에 대한 포렌식 기법 연구를 통하여 범죄 발생 당시 용의자들의 정보를 획득하고 이를 컴퓨터 범죄 수사에 활용하는 방안을 제시한다.
