Free-form Surface Generation from Measuring Points using Laser Scanner

  • With the development of a laser scanner of high precision and increased speed, reverse engineering becomes a key approach to reduce the time for the development of new products. But the modeling process is not so automated enough until now. Modeling in real workshops is usually performed by the experienced operators and it requires a skillful technique to get the resultant surface of high quality and precision. In this paper, a systematic solution is proposed to automate the free-form surface generation from the measured point data. Compatibility is imposed to the measured point data during input curve generation. And the compatibility of cross-sectional curve is also considered for the loft surface generation. The data in each step is produced in IGES file format to make an easy interface to other CAD/CAM software without any further data manipulation.

  • This study aims to develop the thermal performance and economic analysis program of solar heating system applied to district heating systems. The program, named SOLAN-DHS, is consisted of four modules like as user's interface for system input/output, library, and utilities and a calculating engine. SOLAN-DHS simplifies user's input data through the database and can design 5 different types of solar systems. Due to the user-friendly layout, all design parameters can be changed quickly and easily for the influence on system efficiency. The reliability of SOLAN-DHS was finally verified by the experiments.

Implementation of an Open Artificial Intelligence Platform Based on Web and Tensorflow

  • In this paper, we propose a web-based open artificial intelligence (AI) platform which provides high convenience in input data pre-processing, artificial neural network training, and the configuration of subsequent operations according to inference results. The proposed platform has the advantages of the GUI-based environment which can be easily utilized by a user without complex installation. It consists of a web server implemented with the JavaScript Node.js library and a client running the tensorflow.js library. Using the platform, many users can simultaneously create, modify and run their projects to apply AI functionality into various smart services through an open web interface. With our implementation, we show the operability of the proposed platform. By loading a web page from the server, the client can perform GUI-based operations and display the results performed by three modules: the Input Module, the Learning Module and the Output Module. We also implement two application systems using our platform, called smart cashier and smart door, which demonstrate the platform's practicality.

  • 한글은 자음과 모음이 한눈에 구분되는 세계 유일의 표음문자이다. 14 개의 자음과 10 개의 모음을 조합하여 글자를 만들어 내는 한글의 문자 구성원리의 우수성은 이미 세계가 인정하고 있으며, 영국 리스대학의 Geoffrey Sampson 음성언어학 교수는 물리적, 철학적 원리를 문자화한 한글을 새로운 차원의 Feature System 으로 분류하기도 하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 한글의 그 형상학적 생성원리를 바탕으로 이동통신 단말기의 문자입력 시스템의 사용성 증대를 위한 인터페이스 디자인에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 한글의 Feature System 을 응용한 이동통신 단말기의 새로운 문자입력 시스템의 인터페이스를 개발하고, 이를 기존의 이동통신 단말기를 위한 문자입력 방식과 비교 검증하여 그 사용성을 검증하고자 한다.

  • A comutation server is needed to provide analysis programs to Korean biologists, especially genome researchers, on GINet. For each analysis program, we implmented an input form with HTML and a CGI program for interface between an input form and an analysis program with C language on GINet computatin Web server. We made two construction methods of CGI programs for analysis programs, and implemented all CGI programs based on the methods followed by modifying each CGI program for specific processing of each program. On the server ten programs are availabel now, which include most frequently used ones and those developed by our team, and most programs with will be ported or developed by our team will be available on the Web server.

  • It is necessary that we should control the traffic to not only efficiently use the rich bandwidth of ATM network but also satisfy the users various requirements for service quality. However, it is very difficult to decide which control mechanism would be applied in real network because there are various types of ATM traffic and traffic control mechanisms. In this paper, a smart simulator is developed ot analyze the performance of a UPC(Usage Parameter Control) mechanism which is a typical traffic control mechanism. The simulator consists of a user interface that supports a menu-driven input form and a simulation program that is executed with the users input parameters. Especially, the simulator establishes more powerful and flexible simulation environment since it supports a more complex simulation applying various source traffic to several different UPC mechanisms at the same time and allows an arbitrary user-defined traffic in addition to some well-known traffic.

  • This study aims to develop the program for active solar heating system design & analysis. The program, named ASOLis, is consisted of three user's interface like as system input/output, library, and utilities and used TRNSYS as a calculation engine for the system analysis. ASOLis simplifies user's input data through the database and can design 37 different types of solar systems. Solar system is configurated by two separated parts "solar thermal collecting part" and "load supplying part". Due to the user-friendly layout, all design parameters can be changed quickly and easily for the influence on system efficiency. For the reliability, ASOLis compared with experimental result. As a result, ASOLis is expected to be used as a vital tool for the design and analysis of active solar heating system.

  • In this study the thermal performance and economic analysis program of solar heating system for district heating was developed. Five different types of solar systems which can be applicable to district heating system were presented in this program.   • As a result of growth sensor-enabled mobile devices such as PDA, cellular phone and other computing devices, in recent years, users can utilize the diverse digital contents everywhere and anytime. However, the interfaces of mobile applications are often unnatural due to limited resources and miniaturized input/output. Especially, users may feel this problem in some applications such as the mobile game. Therefore, Novel interaction forms have been developed in order to complement the poor user interface of the mobile device and to increase the interest for the mobile game. In this paper, we describe the demonstration of the gesture and posture input supported by an accelerometer. The application example we created are AM-Fishing game on the mobile device that employs the accelerometer as the main interaction modality. The demos show the usability for the gesture and posture interaction.

  • This paper presents a CAD interface system that imports CAD model data and exports input information to a CAPP(Compute Aided Process Planning) system to generate a sequence for block assembly operations. In developing this system we use an open architecture CAD kernel, OpenCASCASE. The functions of the system developed are visualization of the product, definition of relations between parts, and generation of relation graph and input file for CAPP. The functions are demonstrated with a simple example.
