Coupled Field Circuit Analysis for Characteristic Comparison in Barrier Type Switched Reluctance Motor

  • This paper deals with two kinds of novel shape switched reluctance motors (SRM) with magnetic barriers in order to improve operating performances of prototype. The magnetic barriers make rotor poles more saturated, and consequently inductance profiles are distorted. The changed inductance affects input current shape and eventually torque characteristics. In order to analyze the complicated flux pattern of the SRM with magnetic barriers and its terminal characteristics simultaneously, coupled field circuit modeling method is used. The finite element method is used to model the nonlinear magnetic field, and coupled to the circuit model of the SRM overall system. After experimental results are presented to prove the accuracy of the method, the several analysis results are compared, and the improved rotor shape is presented.

  • Bead shape in high frequency electric resistance (HER) pipe welding gives useful information on judging current welding conditon. In most welding process, heat input is controlled by skilled operators observing color and shape of bead. In this paper, a visual monitoring system is designed to observe bead shape in HERW pipe welding process by using structured light beam and a C.I.D(Charge injection device) camera. To avoid some difficul- ties arising in extracting stable features of stripe pattern and classifying the extracted features, Kohonen neural network is used to classify such bead shapes. The experimental results show accurate classification performance of the proposed method.

  • The characteristics of a disk-loaded cylindrical dipole (DLCD) antenna that determine its performance are analyzed by using the method of moments. The current integral equation that is considered with extended boundary condition is derived. Numerical results for the input impedance and radiation pattern of the antenna are presented. The antenna factor with the antenna gain is computed to check the possibility of using this antenna as the broadband antenna for the special case in such as electromagnetic compatibility testing. The comparisons of the computed results with measured data are made. These results will allow this antenna to be used with confidence in various applications.

  • This paper investigates efficiency and power factor of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using Finite Element Method considered driving circuit. The efficiency and power factor are calculated in Input terminal and Output terminal respectively. When calculating power factor, apparent power is obtained by effective voltage and current because SRM is operated by switching of driving circuit. Efficiency is calculated by mechanical output and active power. Finally, the characteristics of efficiency and power factor in three proposed models are compared due to the switching pattern.

  • This paper proposes fault detection method using a neural network & fuzzy logic on distribution lines. Fault on distribution lines is simulated using EMTP. The pattern of high impedance fault on pebbles, ground and short-circuit fault were take as the learning model. In this paper proposed fault detection method is evaluated on various conditions. The average values after analyzing fault current by FFT of even odd harmonics and fundamental rms were used for the neural network input. Test results were verified the validity of the proposed method

  • The advancement in semiconductor technology is leading toward smaller critical dimension designs and larger wafer manufactures. Due to such phenomena, semiconductor industry is in need of an accurate control of the process. Photolithography is one of the key processes where the pattern of each layer is formed. In this process, precise superposition of the current layer to the previous layer is critical. Therefore overlay parameters of the semiconductor photolithography process is targeted for this research. The complex relationship among the input parameters and the output metrologies is difficult to understand and harder yet to model. Because of the superiority in modeling multi-nonlinear relationships, neural networks is used for the simulator modeling. For training the neural networks, conjugate gradient method is employed. An experiment is performed to evaluate the performance among the proposed neural network simulator, stepwise regression model, and the currently practiced prediction model from the test site.

  • Reference/modulating waveform continuity is not a necessary condition for the implementation of switching patterns for three-phase pulse-width modulated(PWM) converters. This is based on the fact that the converter phase-voltages do not need to be sinusoidal and switching pattern discontinuities do not degrade the quality of output/input voltage/current waveforms by introducing low-order harmonics if certain parameters are optimized. This paper introduces the selected harmonic elimination to reduce the switching frequency and low-order harmonics compared with continuous PWM techniques and some discontinues switching patterns for PWM converter.

  • This paper proposed a high impedance fault detection method using a neural network on distribution lines. The v-I characteristic curve was obtained by high impedance fault data tested in various soil conditions. High impedance fault was simulated using EMTP. The pattern of High Impedance Fault on high density pebbles was taken as the learning model, and the neural network was valuated on various soil conditions. The average values after analyzing fault current by FFT of evenr·odd harmonics and fundamental rms were used for the neural network input. Test results were verified the validity of the proposed method.

Efficient Compression Schemes for Double Random Phase-encoded Data for Image Authentication

  • Encrypted images obtained through double random phase-encoding (DRPE) occupy considerable storage space. We propose efficient compression schemes to reduce the size of the encrypted data. In the proposed schemes, two state-of-art compression methods of JPEG and JP2K are applied to the quantized encrypted phase images obtained by combining the DRPE algorithm with the virtual photon counting imaging technique. We compute the nonlinear cross-correlation between the registered reference images and the compressed input images to verify the performance of the compression of double random phase-encoded images. We show quantitatively through experiments that considerable compression of the encrypted image data can be achieved while security and authentication factors are completely preserved.

  • While there are many services that can check current traffic condition and application program such as bus arrival alarm are developed, since it only provide simple alarm and check level of information, it is still insufficient in many senses. Therefore, the program that try to develop in this study is the system that predict arrival time to destination and inform the bus passengers by applying real time traffic information. The system developed related to this study is still very inadequate. In the system developed in this thesis, when the user input the current bus number and destination using smart-phone, relevant server acquire the bus route information from bus information DB, and analyze real time traffic information based on the information from traffic information DB, and inform customer of expected arrival time to destination. In this thesis, traffic congestion can be eased off and regular operation of public transportation can be improved with reliable destination arrival alarm. Also, it is considered that pattern of bus users can be analyzed by using these information, and analyzing average transport speed and time of public transportation, travel time depending on various situation can give a boost to study related to transportation information and its development.
