A Study on Success Factors and Performance of New Products (신제품 혁신 성공요인과 성과에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aimed to exam core factors of the success factors of new products and analyze their effects on success. To accomplish this purpose, this study examined previous studies and summarized core factors of success factors of new products. From previous studies, we drawed core factor. Core factor is technology factors(marketing skills, technical skills), specific of new product(more innovative, less innovative, cost advantage, competitive advantage), the process of product development(crossfunctional integration, staff involvement). Except for more innovative factors, the others factors affect on success. To be winner, companies must be consider these key factor(less innovative, cost advantage, competitive advantage, cross-functionalintegration, staff involvement).

Sweden at the Innovation Frontier - Assessing Performance and Challenges in a Disruptive World

  • The paper assesses the innovative performance and challenges that a small innovative country like Sweden faces in an era of intense global competition. We contrast innovative performance with similar countries in Europe as well as discus the reliability and validity of indicators used to shape policy development. The conclusion from the analysis shows that available input-output indicators must be used with some caution. Even if the supply and quality of indicators has increased for policy analysis, they still lack precision and validity to make broad claims about the innovative performance of companies and nations. It is argued that understanding knowledge flows (rather than simple input-output metrics) are a key to understand innovation processes for small countries at the innovation frontier; subsequently, small countries will have to abandon failed policy orthodoxies in order to cope with future policy challenges.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among personality, LMX(leader-member exchange), and innovative behavior of the employees engaged in the foodservice business. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a literature review was first carried out concerning personality, LMX, and innovative behavior of employees. The questionnaire survey was conducted on foodservice employees working at a hotel buffet restaurant and an independent buffet restaurant in the Busan area. The survey period was from Oct. 1, 2014 to Oct. 15, 2014, and 236 cases were used for analysis. The results are as follows. Foodservice employees who are agreeable and extroverted are likely to develop innovative ideas in the course of their job duties. In addition, foodservice employees who are agreeable, extroverted and conscientious are likely to practice innovative ideas. LMX, especially the contributable relationship between leader and employee, has a positive effect on the development of innovative ideas, and the contributable, respectable, and loyal relationship between leader and employee has a positive effect on the practice of innovative ideas in the foodservice industry.

The Effects of Emotional Leadership on Innovative Behavior in Public Organizations -The Mediating Effect of Job Engagement- (공공조직에서 감성리더십이 혁신행동에 미치는 영향 -직무열의의 매개효과를 중심으로-)

  • This study investigated the relationship between emotional leadership with innovative behavior and job engagement, and verified the mediating effect of job engagement in order to facilitate theoretical and practical development of emotional leadership. For empirical analysis, data were collected from the sample of 260 employees of public institutions. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 to verify the hypothetical relationship. Results showed that emotional leadership was positively related to job engagement but not innovative behavior. Job engagement was positively related to innovative behavior. And further, job engagement is found as playing as a positively full mediator on the relationship between emotional leadership and innovative behavior. These results confirmed that the job engagement of the members formed by emotional leadership in public organizations, such as general companies, has a positive influence on innovative behavior. Finally, limitations were indicated and some possible directions for Innovative behavior and its relationship were suggested for future studies.

  • The creative industry has an important role in economic development, but creative economy entrepreneurs still face many problems in business development and sustaining their businesses. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of entrepreneurship orientation, innovative product advantages, and social network quality on business performance to help companies stay competitive. The research uses a quantitative approach with the population being the owner of the creative industry in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. The sampling technique used is convenience sampling, obtained as many as 126 creative industry owners. Data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The findings of this study show that entrepreneurial orientation, innovative product advantage, and social network quality have a positive effect on the business performance of the creative industry in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. According to the study, a company with superior resources can win the competition and achieve business sustainability. When compared to competing organizations, the benefits of resources and competitive ability will create a competitive edge. As a result, stakeholders such as the government, the corporate sector, and universities are expected to play a larger role in accelerating the growth and development of creative industries.

Analysis of Competitiveness Factors of Global Innovative Companies

  • Purpose - This study's purpose is to analyze which factors are more important to strengthening the competitiveness of global innovative companies by firstly sampling global 40 enterprises, secondly investigating of study models empirically, thirdly finding out significant implications through research, and finally using this result to help improve global companies' competitive edges. Design/methodology - Developing three research models of hypothesis and using 5 variables such as technology innovation, knowledge management, human resource development, sustainable management, and corporate life, this study was empirically carried out by reliability and validity testing, correlation analysis of variables, and multiple regression analysis of three research models. Findings - Through proceeding empirical analysis study, we found out that technology innovation and sustainable management had a significant impact on strengthening competitiveness through the hypothesis test. Those two factors had positive results and a synergy effect through correlation analysis along with process change and human resource development, which are also important areas in global innovative companies. Originality/value - In line with the fourth industrial revolution era's acceleration and COVID-19's large impact on all industries, global companies are newly developing their business models to cope with external environment change. This study's results would be meaningful for global enterprises and domestic companies to improve their overall competitive edge by reinforcing their innovation strategy, preparing next growth engines, diversifying business portfolios, and setting business milestones.

A Data-Driven Approach and Network Analysis of Technological Innovation Resources in SMEs (데이터 기반 접근법을 활용한 중소기업 기술혁신자원의 네트워크 분석)

  • This study aims to analyze the network structure of technological innovation resources in SMEs, especially manufacturing firms, and reveal the differences between innovative and non-innovative firms. The study first analyzes connection centrality, flow-mediated centrality, and power centrality for all firms, and derives structural equivalence through CONCOR analysis. Then, the network structure of innovative and non-innovative firms was compared and analyzed according to innovation performance and creation. The results show that entrepreneurship and corporate innovation strategy have a significant impact on the analysis of technological innovation resources of all firms. According to the CONCOR analysis, the innovation resources of SMEs are organized into seven clusters, which can be defined as intrinsic product innovation resources, competitive advantage promotion resources, cooperative activities resources, information system resources, and innovation protection resources. The network analysis of innovative and non-innovative firms showed that innovative firms focused on enhancing competitiveness and improving quality, while non-innovative firms tended to focus more on existing products and customers. In addition, innovative firms had eight clusters, while non-innovative firms had six clusters, suggesting that innovative firms utilize resources diversely to pursue structural change and new value creation, while non-innovative firms operate technological innovation resources in a more stable form. This study emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurship and corporate innovation strategy in SMEs' technological innovation, and suggests that strong internal efforts are needed to increase innovativeness. These findings have important implications for strategy formulation and policy development for technological innovation in SMEs.

  • This paper examines critical successful facts related with the digital new product development with product innovation. For this, we have selected a Xcanvas time-machine TV of LG electronics and we have done case-study. We have performed in-depth interviews with engineers, team managers, marketers to get facts on the product development process and analyzed huge amount of data obtained from web-sites and related firms' materials. We have concluded that CSFs of Xcanvas time-machine TV are customer-centered product innovation, new perspective of considering technology and product, managing innovative team and motivation to team member.

  • National balanced development and regional innovation have been one of the most important national agendas under the Participatory Government. National balanced development gives a central focus on realizing self-sustaining localization which is based on regional innovation. The core policy goal is to build competitive regional innovation system and innovative clusters in the regions of the country. In this vein, this paper aims to evaluate the present government's policies of regional innovation and innovative cluster. It needs to point out that the regional innovation and cluster policies show some critical problems. Firstly, the policy-making process is based on the top-down approach rather than the bottom-up one. Secondly, regional innovation policies, in many cases, expose the redundancy of similar policies and a lack of linkages between similar policies. Thirdly, the regional innovation policies are too much social infrastructure building-centered, even though the basic principle of regional innovation policy should be based on building superstructure such as networking and social capital.

European Regulatory Science and Regulatory Science Expert Training Project (유럽의 규제과학 및 규제과학 인재양성 프로젝트)

  • Background: Need for regulatory science is emerging with the development of pharmaceutical industry. It is essential to train regulatory science experts to meet the needs of technology and regulations to evaluate advanced products. Major regulatory science countries are conducting the regulatory science activities and fostering the experts. Methods: Published literature and the relevant website of European Union (EU) were reviewed and criteria were developed. In particular, we focused on in depth descriptions of the Innovative Medicines Initiative program, which was conducted twice. Results: EU is striving to provide funding and training experts for the development of the regulatory science by horizon 2020 and regulatory science to 2025. Innovative medicines initiative (IMI) is a public-private partnership aimed at the development of the pharmaceutical industry, including the regulatory science. IMI education and training projects have provided various education and training course including short-term curriculum and master and doctoral course. The difference between South Korea's regulatory science expert training project in 2021 and the EU's IMI education and training projects is participation of pharmaceutical companies. While the pharmaceutical companies participate in the IMI project to select project topics and form a community, South Korea's project is focused on the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and universities. Conclusion: Through successful active networks with regulatory party, pharmaceutical companies, and universities, a great innovative advance of regulatory science in South Korea is expected.
