  • Ad-hoc 네트워크는 유선 인프라의 구성이나 도움 없이 이동 단말기들로만 손쉽게 통신망을 구성하여 긴급구조나 전쟁터 등에서 무선 데이터 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 무선 네트워크를 말한다. 최근에는 Ad-hoc 릴레이 시스템과 같은 확장된 개념의 Ad-hoc 망으로 범위가 넓혀지고 있어 품질에 대한 요구 수준이 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이상과 같은 추세에 맞춰 보다 안정적이고, 품질이 보장될 수 있는 분산형 005 모니터링 기법을 제안함으로써 Ad-hoc 네트워크에서 멀티미디어 정보 등 실시간 데이터 전송이 가능한 005 보장형 라우팅 프로토콜 설계가 가능토록 한다.

  • Recently, after Wide Area Outage of the North-Eastern United States occurred, many countries started to be concerned about WAMS (Wide Area Monitoring System), and Korean power system also experienced Wide Area outage according to typhoon Mae-Mi, and Haenam-Jeju HVDC line fault. Since it is too difficult to detect a symptom based on SCADA or EMS, a defense system of electric power infrastructure has required. In this research, the designed and developed system processes the time synchronized real time power system information based on GPS and shows the 2D/3D monitoring viewer using the phasor data and the results of three algorithms.

  • Better understanding of in-situ mechanical behavior of pavement foundations is very important to predict long-term effects on the system performance of transport infrastructure. In order to do that, resilient stiffness characterization of geomaterals is needed to properly adopt such mechanistic analysis under both traffic and environmental loadings. In this paper, in situ monitoring data from KHC test road was used to analyze the non-linearity of stress conditions under traffic and moisture loadings. Then, the predicted non-linear response using finite element method with a selected constitutive model of foundation geomaterials are verified with the field data.

Magnetic Resonance-Based Wireless Power Transmission through Concrete Structures

  • As civil infrastructures continue to deteriorate, the demand for structural health monitoring (SHM) has increased. Despite its outstanding capability for damage identification, many conventional SHM techniques are restricted to huge structures because of their wired system for data and power transmission. Although wireless data transmission using radio-frequency techniques has emerged vis-$\grave{a}$-vis wireless sensors in SHM, the power supply issue is still unsolved. Normal batteries cannot support civil infrastructure for no longer than a few decades. In this study, we develop a magnetic resonance-based wireless power transmission system, and its performance is validated in three different mediums: air, unreinforced concrete, and reinforced concrete. The effect of concrete and steel rebars is analyzed.

Wind-induced response and loads for the Confederation Bridge -Part II: derivation of wind loads

  • This paper uses ten years of on-site monitoring data for the Confederation Bridge to derive wind loads and investigate whether the bridge has experienced its design wind force effects since its completion in 1997. The load effects derived using loads from the on-site monitoring data are compared to the load effects derived using loads from the 1994 and 2009 wind tunnel aerodynamic model tests. The research shows, for the first time, that the aerodynamic model-based methodology originally developed in 1994 is a very accurate method for deriving wind loads for structural design. The research also confirms that the bridge has not experienced its specified (i.e., unfactored) wind force effects since it was opened to traffic in 1997, even during the most severe event that has occurred during this period.

  • This report introduces a National Vessel Monitoring System(NVMS) within the General Information Center On Maritime Safety and Security(GICOMS) project and a national legislation system for ship's safety management in Korea. We also represent future directions of NVMS in terms of E-Navigation(E-Nav), which is the new study item for COMSAR and NAV that has been adopted from the Maritime Safety Committee(MSC) 81st session. It concludes the future E-Nav system, when it is built, that all functions of NVMS should be used by NVMS controllers as well as mariners, and we should also consider the existing NVMS infrastructure including S/W and H/W.

Continuous Human Activity Detection Using Multiple Smart Wearable Devices in IoT Environments

  • Recent improvements on the quality, fidelity and availability of biometric data have led to effective human physical activity detection (HPAD) in real time which adds significant value to applications such as human behavior identification, healthcare monitoring, and user authentication. Current approaches usually use machine-learning techniques for human physical activity recognition based on the data collected from wearable accelerometer sensor from a single wearable smart device on the user. However, collecting data from a single wearable smart device may not provide the complete user activity data as it is usually attached to only single part of the user's body. In addition, in case of the absence of the single sensor, then no data can be collected. Hence, in this paper, a continuous HPAD will be presented to effectively perform user activity detection with mobile service infrastructure using multiple wearable smart devices, namely smartphone and smartwatch placed in various locations on user's body for more accurate HPAD. A case study on a comprehensive dataset of classified human physical activities with our HAPD approach shows substantial improvement in HPAD accuracy.

조간대 기상관측시스템 구축 (Weather Observation System Building in the Intertidal Zone)

  • In this study, we installed a weather observation tower tailored to the intertidal zone and established an intertidal weather observation system capable of real-time monitoring through a wireless network. This provided weather observation data representing the meteorological characteristics of the intertidal zone. To optimize this system in the future, we present practical directions for the development of observation equipment and for the data management and sharing, and we contribute to establishing the infrastructure.

  • The cloud computing evolution has brought us increasing necessity to manage virtual resources. For this reason, Kubernetes has developed to realize autonomous resource management in a large scale. It provides cloud computing infrastructure to handle cluster creations and deletions in a secure virtual computing environment. In the paper, we provide a monitoring scheme in which users can observe securely encrypted protocols while each Kubernetes component exchanges their packets. Eventually, users can utilize the proposed scheme for debugging as well as monitoring.

진원지 인근 지진 조기 경보를 위한 선착 P파 다중 탐지 시스템 개발 (Development of Earthquake Early Warning System nearby Epicenter based on P-wave Multiple Detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 진원지 주변에서 빠르고 정확한 지진 조기 경보를 수행하기 위한 선착 P파 다중 탐지 시스템과 이를 구동하기 위한 지진파 초동 탐지 및 경보 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 공용 중인 5개소(포항지역 4개소)의 건축물을 선정하여 개발한 계측 시스템을 설치하였고, 지반 진동을 실시간 모니터링하며 실증시험을 진행하였다. 실증 모니터링 중 2019년 9월 26일 포항 지역에서 규모 2.3의 지진이 발생하였다. 포항지역에 설치된 총 4개소의 시스템 중 3개소에서 P파 초동 탐지 알고리즘이 작동되어 지진동 이벤트로 기록되었다. 진원지로부터 5.5 km로 가장 가까운 계측소는 지진 발생 후 1.2초 후 P파 초동이 감지되었으며, P파 도달 후 약 1.02초 후 S파가 도달하여 다소의 경보시간을 제공해주었다. P파가 탐지된 3곳의 최대 가속도는 각각 6.28gal, 6.1gal, 5.3gal로 기록되었으며, 이벤트 경보 발령을 위한 최대 지반 가속도의 임계값(25.1gal)을 초과하지 않아 경보 알고리즘이 작동하지 않았다. 향후 지속적인 모니터링 및 분석을 통해 추가 검증이 이루어진다면 국내 실정에 맞는 실효성 높은 지진 경보 시스템으로 활용 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
