The paper reviews an improved continuous-wave (CW) terahertz (THz) imaging system developed for nondestructive inspection, such as CW-THz quasi-time-domain spectroscopy (QTDS) and interferometry. First, a comparison between CW and pulsed THz imaging systems is reported. The CW-THz imaging system is a simple, fast, compact, and relatively low-cost system. However, it only provides intensity data, without depth and frequency- or time-domain information. The pulsed THz imaging system yields a broader range of information, but it is expensive because of the femtosecond laser. Recently, to overcome the drawbacks of CW-THz imaging systems, many studies have been conducted, including a study on the QTDS system. In this system, an optical delay line is added to the optical arm leading to the detector. Another system studied is a CW-THz interferometric imaging system, which combines the CW-THz imaging system and far-infrared interferometer system. These systems commonly obtain depth information despite the CW-THz system. Reportedly, these systems can be successfully applied to fields where pulsed THz is used. Lastly, the applicability of these systems for nondestructive inspection was confirmed.
It is worth it to properly present the behaviors of cyberspace and game characters. It is not so easy to manually supply the actions for all objects one by one, so we need to use crowd animation techniques in order to display automatically, realistically, and effectively. In this paper, we construct a ubiquitous cyber aquarium based on sensors, using the crowd behavior library, which is applied to programming crowd behavior in cyberspace and game applications. We use a sensor board to become aware of a person approaching the cyber aquarium, and according to the perceived distance, the objects in the cyber aquarium automatically react and behave accordingly.
In this paper, we describe the method of non-invasive blood pressure measurement using pulse wave transit time(PWTT). PWTT is a new parameter involved with a vascular that can indicate the change of BP. PWTT is measured by continuous monitoring of ECG and pulse wave. No additional sensors or modules are required. In many cases, the change of PWTT correlates with the change of BP. We measure pulse wave using the photo plethysmograph(PPG) sensor in an earlobe and we measure ECG using the ECG monitoring device our made in the chest. The measurement device for detecting pulse wave consists of infrared LED for transmitted light illumination, pin photodiode as light detector, amplifier and filter. We composed 0.5Hz high pass, 60Hz notch and 10Hz low pass filter. ECG measurement device consists of multiplexer, amplifier, filter, micro-controller and RF module. After amplification and filtering, ECG signal and pulse wave is fed through micro-controller. We performed the initial work towards the development of ambulatory BP monitoring system using PWTT. An earlobe is suitable place to measure PPG signal without the restraint in daily work. From the results, we can know that the dependence of PWTT on BP is almost linear and it is possible to monitoring an individual BP continuously after the individual calibration.

The latest vehicle yields a superior safety and reduction of driving burden by monitoring the driving state of vehicle and its environment with various sensors. To detect other vehicles and objects of the rear left and right-side blind spot area of driver, provide the information about a existence of objects inside the blind spot, and give a signal to avoid collision, this study proposes the intelligent outside rear-view mirror system. This study proposes SILS system with PreScan and Matlab/Simulink to verify practical applicability of developed BSDS. PreScan yields realistic driving environments and road conditions and vehicle model dynamics and collision warning is controlled by Matlab/Simulink.
Rehabilitation exercises are the treatments designed to help patients who are in the process of recovery from injury or illness to restore their body functions back to the original status. However, many patients suffering from chronic diseases have found difficulties visiting hospitals for the rehabilitation program due to lack of transportation, cost of the program, their own busy schedules, etc. Also, the program usually contains a few medical check-ups which can cause patients to feel uncomfortable. In this paper, we develop a remote rehabilitation system with bio-signals by a stereo camera. A Kinect stereo camera manufactured by Microsoft corporation was used to recognize the body movement of a patient by using its infrared(IR) camera. Also, we detect the chest area of a user from the skeleton data and process to gain respiratory status. ROI coordinates are created on a user's face to detect photoplethysmography(PPG) signals to calculate heart rate values from its color sensor. Finally, rehabilitation exercises and bio-signal detecting features are combined into a Windows application for the cost effective and high performance remote rehabilitation system.
In this work, we optimized a microbolometer for application of a $CO_2$ detector by using MEMS technology. We fabricated a stable thermal isolation structure by varying the lengths of supporting legs which affect bolometer performance. We could fabricate more stable thermal isolation structure for the microbolometer through the results of ANSYS simulations, and minimize the fabrication processes by using bulk micromachining to use a $CO_2$ detector. The microbolometer shows a detectivity of $2.5{\times}109$ cmHz$^{1/2}$/W at a chopper frequency of 8 Hz and a bias current of $6.25\;{\mu}A$ with a vacuum package of about $3.0{\times}10.3$ torr. Therefore, we put to conclusion that the microbolometer optimized in this experiment could be useful for the application of a $CO_2$ detector.
This study investigated the influence of various sintering pressures of ZnS nanoparticles prepared by hydrothermal synthesis performed at 220 ℃ for 20 h. The hydrothermally synthesized ZnS nanoparticles formed a cubic phase. The ZnS nanoparticles were sintered using a hot-press process at 850 ℃ for 2 h under pressures of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 MPa. The ZnS ceramics indicate the cubic phase is the major phase and the hexagonal phase is the minor phase. In the ZnS ceramics, as the sintering pressure increased, a decrement in the hexagonal phase was confirmed. When the sintering pressure equaled or exceeded 30 MPa, the transmittance and density improved with reductions in porosity and hexagonal phase. A sintering pressure of 60 MPa delivered the highest transmittance (69.7%).

A realization for an accurate position detecting system of a moving target in two dimensional plane using dual line CCDs and photometric interpolation is presented. The system is realized that the infrared LEDs are utilized for lighting source, a target size is recognized by the scanned data from CCD owing to blocking the radiated light path by placing the target between CCD and lighting source, a coordinate on the plane is found by plane trigonometry formed by the moving target and two CCD sensors, and the former scan data is used for the coordinate iteratively and the photometric interpolation is applied to sub-pixel of scanned image. The experimental results show that the experiment results in a success rate about 3 different size targets, 3, 5 and 7mmm on the test plane $210{\times}373mm$. The moving target positioning detected success rate is 93% in 3mm target, 5mm is 95.3%, and 7mm is 95.8% respectively. The photometric interpolation is enhanced to 1.5% in comparison to be unused.

The spreading of hot waste water discharged from the coastal power station is a new problem to marin e circumstances and the fishery. Because the survey of hot waste water discharges should be performed is multaneously across wide areas, it is very difficult. Some sensors of the Landsat can draw the spread and distribution of water temperature from wavelength range of thermal infrared. The present study applied the GIS after stretching DN for the purpose of drawing a more accurate distribution of water temperature. Accordingly, the pattern of water temperature distribution could be expressed more precisely for a broad area, and the spread and distribution of hot waste water could be analyzed economically.
This paper describes techniques of camera calibration and artificial landmarks detection for the automatic charging of a mobile robot, equipped with a fish-eye camera in the direction of its operation for movement or surveillance purposes. For its identification from the surrounding environments, three landmarks employed with infrared LEDs, were installed at the charging station. When the robot reaches a certain point, a signal is sent to the LEDs for activation, which allows the robot to easily detect the landmarks using its vision camera. To eliminate the effects of the outside light interference during the process, a difference image was generated by comparing the two images taken when the LEDs are on and off respectively. A fish-eye lens was used for the vision camera of the robot but the wide-angle lens resulted in a significant image distortion. The radial lens distortion was corrected after linear perspective projection transformation based on the pin-hole model. In the experiment, the designed system showed sensing accuracy of ${\pm}10$ mm in position and ${\pm}1^{\circ}$ in orientation at the distance of 550 mm.
