The Signal Acquisition Algorithm for Ultra Wide-band Communication Systems (UWB 통신시스템에서 동기 획득 알고리즘)

  • Due to the extremely short pulse in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, the accurate synchronization acquisition method is very important for both high data-rate WPAN and low data-rate WPAN. In this paper, we propose the synchronization acquisition algorithm based on two-step signal search method to acquire the synchronization in the UWB multi-path channel. At the first step, the search window is divided by two and the window that has higher power is chosen as a next search window. This operation is repeated until the measure power of the search window is smaller than the threshold value. At the second step, we employ Linear Search algorithm to the search window obtained at the first step for fine search. The proposed algorithm is proved that the synchronization acquisition is faster than the parallel search algorithm and it shows good performance in environment of the SNR extreme changes by the simulation.

  • As the World Wide Web (WWW) has become a major channel for information delivery, the data accumulated in the Internet increases at an incredible speed, and it derives the advances of information search technologies. It is the search engine that solves the problem of information overloading and helps people to identify relevant information. However, as search engines become a powerful tool for finding information, the opportunities of plagiarizing have increased significantly in e-Learning. In this paper, we developed an online plagiarism detection system for detecting plagiarized documents that incorporates the functions of search engines and acts in exactly the same way of plagiarizing. The plagiarism detection system uses morpheme analysis to improve the performance and sentence-based comparison to investigate document comes from multiple sources. As a result of applying this system in e-Learning, the performance of plagiarism detection was improved.

  • In 3GPP LTE downlink system, initial cell search is essential for mobile station to connect to base station. In order to obtain information of the base station, the mobile station detects frame timing, frequency offset, and cell identification using primary synchronization channel(PSC) and secondary synchronization channel(SSC), which are defined in downlink OFDMA specification. In this paper, we analyze various detection algorithms in practical environment of inter-cell-interference, frequency offset, and multi-path fading channel and propose the optimal algorithm. Simulation results show that partial correlation method (for PSC acquisition) and interference cancellation method (for SSC detection) are the most superior algorithms among the applicable algorithms. Employ these two algorithms for receiver design, initial cell search is performed with 99% probability within 70ms in the channel environment considered.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast code acquisition method that can reduce drastically the mean acquisition time of the direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) system by using and integrated search and verification (ISV) scheme. The proposed method performs simultaneously the search and verification processes at every search cell, through storing sufficiently long signal samples enough to perform the verification process form the previously received samples. We analyze and acquisition performance in the case of Gaussian channel to evaluate theacquisition perfomrance of the proposed method. From the simple numericl analysis result, we have shown that the acquisition performance of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional serial search method, and the performance improvement becomes more prominent as the channel environment becomes degraded.

Clipping Value Estimate for Iterative Tree Search Detection

  • The clipping value, defined as the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) in the case wherein all the list of candidates have the same binary value, is investigated, and an effective method to estimate it is presented for iterative tree search detection. The basic principle behind the method is that the clipping value of a channel bit is equal to the LLR of the maximum probability of correct decision of the bit to the corresponding probability of erroneous decision. In conjunction with multilevel bit mappings, the clipping value can be calculated with the parameters of the number of transmit antennas, $N_t$; number of bits per constellation point, $M_c$; and variance of the channel noise, $\sigma^2$, per real dimension in the Rayleigh fading channel. Analyses and simulations show that the bit error performance of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional fixed-value method.

  • Applying channel state information feedback scheme based on codebook for FDD downlink MIMO system to massive MIMO system directly causes following two problems. First, codebook generation becomes hard because resources needed for codebook generation increases exponentially in the number of antennas. In addition, long time is needed for channel state information feedback because users's codebook search time increases linearly in the number of antennas. This paper proposes a codebook generation scheme and a codebook search scheme which can reduce resource for codebook generation and codebook search time drastically though they have similar performance as conventional approaches.

Influences of channel assessment on the usage levels of multi-channels by product category in decision making process for purchasing fashion products (패션상품 구매의사 결정과정에서의 상품유형별 채널평가가 멀티채널 이용도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the influences of channel assessments on the usage of multi-channels by product types, and the differences in the usage of multi-channels among product types in buying decision making process for fashion products. Data were collected from 510 consumers in their 20s to 50s with purchasing experiences through multi-channel distribution system and living in Seoul and Kyunggi province; 491 were analyzed after deleting incomplete questionnaires. Factor analysis, multiple regression analysis and one-way ANOVA were used for statistical analysis by using SPSS 18.0. The results were as follows: 5 factors were extracted for channel assessment: utility, accuracy, risk, price benefit and sharing information. Price benefits, utility and sharing information for online channel tended to influence positively on the usage of online channel and online+offline channels. Accuracy and low perceived risk of offline influenced positively on offline and on+offline channel usages. The usage levels of on-line and off-line channels for cosmetics were significantly lower than the usage levels for clothes and accessories on information search, evaluation of alternatives, and purchase stages. Significant differences were also found in the usage levels of multi-channels (on+off-line) on information search and evaluation of alternatives stages. The usage levels of the multi-channels for clothes were the highest followed by those of accessories and cosmetics in order.

A Study on the Crawling and Classification Strategy for Local Website (로컬 웹사이트의 탐색전략과 웹사이트 유형분석에 관한 연구)

  • Since the World-Wide Web (WWW) has become a major channel for information delivery, information overload also has become a serious problem to the Internet users. Therefore, effective information searching is critical to the success of Internet services. We present an integrated search engine for searching relevant web pages on the WWW in a certain Internet domain. It supports a local search on the web sites. The spider obtains all of the web pages from the web sites through web links. It operates autonomously without any human supervision. We developed state transition diagram to control navigation and analyze link structure of each web site. We have implemented an integrated local search engine and it shows that a higher satisfaction is obtained. From the user evaluation, we also find that higher precision is obtained.

An efficient channel searching method based on channel list for independent type cognitive radio systems (독립형 무선 인지 시스템에서 채널 목록 기반의 효과적 채널 검색)

  • In this paper, we consider an independent type cognitive radio system where secondary users can utilize empty channels that are not currently used by primary users having the license to these channels. In the previous works, secondary users search channels sequently or randomly to detect activities of primary user on channels. These channel searching methods however are not suitable to the characteristics of the wireless environment. Therefore, we propose a channel searching method based on the channel list for the purpose of reducing the channel searching time and improving the throughput of secondary users. In the proposed method, we firstly determine weighting value of each channel based on the history of channel activities of primary users and add the weighing value to current channel state buffer. And then, we search an empty channel from channel with smallest value to one with the biggest value. Finally, we compare the performances of the proposed method with those of the sequential channel searching and the random channel searching methods in terms of average channel searching time and average number of transmissions of secondary user.

  • In this paper, we propose adaptive search channel estimate algorithm. The proposed algorithm is modified LMS algorithm which has a variable step size and parallel convolution. In simulation result, a error estimate accuracy of the proposed algorithm is about -20 dB and general LMS algorithm is about 10 dB. The proposed algorithm is better error estimate accuracy than general LMS algorithm.
