  • Wireless communication is a telecommunication technology, which enables wireless transmission between the portable devices to provide wireless access in all types of environments. In this research, the measurements and various empirical models are analysed and compared in order to find out a suitable propagation model to provide guidelines for cell planning of wireless communication systems. The measured data was taken in urban region with low vegetation and some trees at 900 MHz frequency band. Path loss models are useful planning tools, which permit the designers of cellular communication to obtain optimal levels for the base station deployment and meeting the expected service level requirements. Outcomes show that these empirical models tend to overestimate the propagation loss. As one of the key outputs, it was observed that the calculations of Weissberger model fit with the measured data in urban environment.

  • One of the major paradigms for supervised learning in neural network community is back-propagation learning. The standard implementations of back-propagation learning are optimal under the assumptions of identical and independent Gaussian noise. In this paper, for regression function estimation, we introduce $\varepsilon-insensitive$ back-propagation learning algorithm, which corresponds to minimizing the least absolute error. We compare this algorithm with support vector machine(SVM), which is another $\varepsilon-insensitive$ supervised learning algorithm and has been very successful in pattern recognition and function estimation problems. For comparison, we consider a more realistic model would allow the noise variance itself to depend on the input variables.

  • In this paper, we present a consistent and efficient edit propagation method that is applied for light field data. Unlike conventional sparse edit propagation, the coherency between light field sub-aperture images is fully considered by utilizing light field consistency in the optimization framework. Instead of directly solving the optimization function on all light field sub-aperture images, the proposed optimization framework performs sparse edit propagation in the extended focus image domain. The extended focus image is the representative image that contains implicit depth information and the well-focused region of all sub-aperture images. The edit results in the extended focus image are then propagated back to each light field sub-aperture image. Experimental results on test images captured by a Lytro off-the-shelf light field camera confirm that the proposed method provides robust and consistent results of edited light field sub-aperture images.

  • Once the sensor node in wireless sensor networks is installed, it usually operates without human intervention for a long time. The remote code update scheme is required because it is difficult to recall the sensor node in many situations. Therefore, studies on the reliable and efficient transport protocol for code propagation in wireless sensor networks have been increasingly done. However, by considering only the stability aspect of transmission, most of previous works ignore the consideration on the fast code propagation. This results the energy inefficiency by consuming unnecessary energy due to the slow code propagation. In this paper, in order to overcome limitation of the previous code propagation protocols, we propose a new code propagation protocol called "FCPP(Fast Code Propagation Protocol)". The FCPP aims at improving the reliability at well as performance. For this purpose, the FCPP accomplishes the fast code propagation by using the RTT-based transmission rate control and NACK suppression scheme, which provides a better the network utilization and avoids a unnecessary transmission delay. Based on the ns-2 simulation result, we prove that the FCPP Improves significantly both reliability and performance.

  • Start This paper analyzes the propagation characteristics of acoustic signals in indoor environments, which is applicable to indoor positioning system. Indoor stereo sound system is generally valid within $25m^2$. So it is not possible to apply prevalent sound propagation characteristic to indoor positioning system because the prevalent acoustic signals propagation characteristic is defined under free space condition. Therefore, in this paper, we present the propagation characteristics of acoustic signals in indoor environments considering the free space propagation characteristic as well as room characteristic such as humidity, temperature, absorption of atmosphere and so on. To verify the designed propagation model of indoor acoustic signals, this paper presents the propagation characteristics of decreasing sinusoidal signals whose frequencies ate from 1kHz to 20kHz in anechoic room. In addition, this paper also presents the propagation characteristics of decreasing sinusoidal signals which have multiple frequencies.

  • A parallel processing systolic array reduces execution time of the Back-propagation ANN. But, systolic array must be designed whenever the number of neurons in the ANN differ. To use the systolic array which is aready designed ad a fixed size VLSI chip, partition of the problem size systolic array must be performed. This paper presents a design method of the fixed size systolic array for the Back-propagation algorthm using LSGP and LPGS partion method

  • This paper presents CMOS full adder design method based on carry-propagation-free addition trees and a circuit technique, so called multiple-valued current-nude(MVCM) circuits. The carry-propagation-free addition method uses a redundant digit sets called redundant positive-digit number representations. The carry-propagation-free addition is by three steps, and the adder can be designed directly and efficiently from the algorithm using WVCM circuit, Also Multiplier can be designed by these adder. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method through simulation(SPICE).

  • A new modular Lateral Information Propagation Networks(LIPN) has been designed. The LIPN has shown to be useful for reconstruction of information[3]. The problem is the fact that only the small number of nodes can be implemented in a IC chip with the circuit VLSI technology. The proposed modular architecture is propagated the neural network through inter module connections. For such inter module connections, the host (computer or logic) mediates the exchange of information among modules. Also border nodes in each module have capacitors for temporarily retaining the information from outer modules. The LIPN with $4{\times}4$ modules has been designed and simulation of interpolation with the designed LIPN has been done.

  • There is a well-defined propagation model, named the random constant spread (RCS) model, which explains worms that spread their clones with a random scanning strategy. This model uses the number of infected hosts in a domain as a factor in the worms' propagation. However, there are difficulties in explaining the characteristics of new Internet worms because they have several considerable new features: the denial of service by network saturation, the utilization of a faster scanning strategy, a smaller size in the worm's propagation packet, and to cause maximum damage before human-mediated responses are possible. Therefore, more effective factors are required instead of the number of infected hosts. In this paper, the network bandwidth usage rate is found to be an effective factor that explains the propagations of the new Internet worms with the random scanning strategy. The analysis and simulation results are presented using this factor. The simulation results show that the scan rate is more sensitive than the propagation packet for detecting worms' propagations.

  • In the QR Decomposition-based (QRD) decoding class, the system performance is sensitive to the error propagation. Thus, it is critical to correctly decode the previous layers. One approach to desensitize the error propagation is to propose the optimal decoding order of layers. In this work, we propose a new extended-list Sorted QRD-base (SQRD) decoding approach. In the proposed decoding scheme, the solution of the few first layers is extended as the list of promising possible solutions. By doing so, the diversity of the lowest layer is increased. As a result, the system performance is less sensitive to the error propagation than its counterparts. The proposed approach is verified by the computer simulation results.
