Today's driver information system often features a rotary control type as a main controller for menu navigation. Population stereotype should be clearly understood in designing those systems to minimize the misunderstanding by the operator. This paper investigates stereotypes for rotary controlled menu interfaces and influences of contributing principles. A human factors experiment was conducted using various configurations of control-display layouts, cursor shapes/positions, and movement directions. The results showed that the control should be on the left of the display, with a rightward icon on the right side of the cursor, in order to match the stereotype. Regression analysis indicated that Warrick's principle was the most influential principle, followed by Icon shape, Icon position, Clockwise away, and Clockwise up principles. This study provides valuable information to designers of menu-based systems such as driver information systems and main control rooms that uses rotary controls.

For consumers making health decisions, Wikipedia is a popular source for health information. This study investigated major factors influencing consumer satisfaction with Wikipedia medical/health articles. Using a crowdsourcing method, data were collected from 322 adults who read/edit English Wikipedia medical/health articles and reside in the US. The results showed that the presentation of information was the most influential factor. Trustworthiness was the second most important factor for consumer satisfaction with the quality of information, followed by reliability, and topic coverage. Study participants did not consider other factors such as accuracy and currency to be crucial factors. Moderating effects of the control variables such as editing experience with Wikipedia articles, gender, and age were also examined to enhance the internal validity of the study. Implications for the Wikipedia editor community and researchers, and directions of future research are presented.

As reliance on information and communication becomes widespread, a variety of information dysfunctions such as hacking, viruses, and the infringement of personal information are also occurring. Korean adolescents are especially exposed to an environment in which they are experiencing information dysfunction. In addition, youth cybercrimes are steadily occurring. To prevent cybercrime and the damage caused by information dysfunction, information security practices are essential. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to discuss the factors affecting the information security practices of Korean youths, considering information security education, perceived severity, and perceived vulnerability as leading factors of the theory of planned behavior. A questionnaire survey was administered to 118 middle and high school students. Results of the hypothesis test show that information security education affects perceived behavior control, and perceived severity affects attitude. Subjective norms, information security attitudes, and perceived behavioral control were found to influence adolescents' practices of information security. However, perceived vulnerabilities did not affect youths' information security attitudes. This study confirms that information security education can help youths to practice information security. In other words, information security education is important, and it is a necessary element in the information curriculum of contemporary youth. However, perceived vulnerability to youth information security threats did not affect information security attitudes. Consequently, we suggest that it is necessary to strengthen the contents of the information security education for Korean youths.
As the real-time multimedia applications through Internet increase, the bandwidth available to TCP connections is oppressed by the UDP traffic, result in the performance of overall system is extremely deteriorated. Therefore, developing a new transmission protocol is necessary. The TCP-friendly algorithm is an example meeting this necessity. The TCP-friendly (TFRC) is an UDP-based protocol that controls the transmission rate based on the available round transmission time (RTT) and the packet loss rate (PLR). In the data transmission processing, transmission rate is determined based on the conditions of the previous transmission period. If the one-step ahead predicted values of the control factors are available, the performance will be improved significantly. This paper proposes a prediction model of transmission rate control factors that will be used for the transmission rate control, which improves the performance of the networks. The model developed through this research is predicting one-step ahead variables of RTT and PLR. A multiplayer perceptron neural network is used as the prediction model and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is used for the training. The values of RTT and PLR were collected using TFRC protocol in the real system. The obtained prediction model is validated using new data set and the results show that the obtained model predicts the factors accurately.

A shop floor can be considered as and importand level to develop a Computer Integrated Manufacturing system (CIMs). The shop foor is a dynamic environment where unexpected events contrinuously occur, and impose changes to planned activities. The shop floor should adopt an appropriate control system that is responsible for scheduling coordination and moving the manufacturing material and information flow. In this paper, the architecture of the hybrid control model identifies three levels; i.e., the shop floor controller (SFC), the cell controller(CC) and the equipment controller (EC). The methodology for developing these controller is employ an object-oriented approach for static models and IDEF0 for function models for dispatching a job. SFC and CC are coordinated by employing a multi-factors bidding and an adapted Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) prove applicability of the suggested method. Test experiment has been conducted by with the shopfloor, consisting of six manufacturing cells.

In recent years, many home machines have been developed in order to design and control comfortable interior inside houses. For such task, important factors are temperature, natural and interior lights, and space and control of relative factors each other. This paper presents novel sensor module inside houses, which is designed based on these factors through the PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) standard using information about home state. Moreover, LonWorks based power line communication technique is utilized for control interior lights and air-conditioners by means of wireless remote controllers. This mechanism is systemically operated via intelligent control framework.
