일부(一部) 중고등학생(中高等學生)의 편식(偏食) 실태상황(實態狀況)에 관(關)한 조사연구(調査硏究) (A Study on the Unbalanced Diet of Junior and Senior Students)

  • Through the questionaire inquiry from April 1st to 10th, 1974 with 393 students in Woonho, Saekwang junior and senior highschool and Daisung, Ilshin girls' junior and senior highschool in Chungju, Choong Cheong Buk Do, I surveyed the general circumstances of students and their unbalanced diet on total 199 foods and causes of the unbalanced diet and regard the 21 boys and 29 girls who don't like to eat more than 30 foods from the given 47 protein-foods which are needed by students who are now in the stage of growth. This study is concerned with their circumstances and the causes of their ill habit of eating. 1) As to their distribution of age, 14 and 18 year old boys were six (28.5%), 11 and 13 year old girls were eleven (38.1%). In the survey on their height, 6 boys (28.5) were from 146 cm to 150 cm and 11 girls (38.1%) were from 146 cm to 150 cm. On the weight, 7 boys were from 36 kg to 40 kg(33.7%), 10 girls were from 36 kg to 40 kg (34.0%). We can see that ill habiters of eating were more weaker than other students from this data. 2) In the survey of educational level of their housewive it was found that number of graduates of the primary school is thirty (60.0%). So we can derive the fact that they don't make any variety in their daily table for their family. 3) As to their living standard, 19 boys (90.4%) and 27 girls (93.3%) belong to the middle class, low and high class were a little. This indicates the general living standard if Korea, because in common sence we regard the riches are the more ill habiters of eating. 4) 8 boys (36.8%) and 8 girls (26.8%) were the first children in their homes. This indicates the fact that housewive happen to make the first child as the ill habiter of eating because their lack of experience to give various food for their children. As to the survey on their infant nutriments, 41 students (80.2%) were fed by mother's milk. 5) Upon the causes of the unbalanced diet on a certain food, 34 boys (82.7%) and 45 girls (64.6%) were because of appearing to that food, 10 boys (40.8%) and 18 girls (61.5%) were because of the characteristic fragrance, 11 boys (52.4%) and 17 girls (58.1%) were because they have never eated that food till now, 34 boys (19.3%) and 5 girls (17.0%) were because of the bad appearance of the food. So housewive should study various ways of cooking daily meals at home and try to give their children who are in the stage of growth to be able to eat wider kinds of foods for the improvement of health.

영·유아 어머니의 이유식 지식수준 및 간편 이유식에 대한 인식 (Knowledge on complementary foods of mothers with young children and their perception of convenience complementary foods)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine mothers' knowledge levels on complementary foods and their perception of convenience complementary foods. Methods: An online survey was conducted with mothers aged 20-49 years who had purchased convenience complementary foods and had a preschool child aged 4 months or older. The respondents were categorized into 3 groups based on their knowledge scores: low- (0-50 points), mid- (55-65 points), and high- (70-100 points) knowledge groups. Results: The average score of mothers' knowledge on complementary foods was 58.8 out of 100 points. Working mothers were found to have lower levels of knowledge compared to mothers who were housewives. Only 1/4 of responding mothers had educational experience on complementary foods. Mothers expressed a desire for information on the types of complementary foods (72.2%) and the intake amounts (60.3%) corresponding to each phase of their child's development. Multivariate analysis of variance revealed significant differences in health (P = 0.002), variety (P = 0.039), and hygiene (P = 0.041) among the factors taken into consideration when purchasing convenience complementary foods according to the mothers' knowledge levels. Mothers in the high-knowledge group placed a greater importance on 'balanced nutrition' (P = 0.022) and 'hygienic cooking' (P = 0.010) compared to mothers in the low-knowledge group. The results of the modified importance-performance analysis, which compared the importance and performance of the factors taken into consideration when purchasing convenience complementary foods, highlighted the need for efforts in 'health,' 'hygiene,' and 'price,' while also indicating an excessive effort in 'convenience.' Conclusions: This study suggests expanding relevant education programs to enhance mothers' knowledge on complementary foods, especially for working mothers. In the industry, marketing strategies for complementary food products could be developed that align with the needs of mothers, focusing on health, hygiene, and price.

Women Infant and Children program participants' beliefs and consumption of soy milk : Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior

  • The purpose of this study was to determine if Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) variables predict soy milk intake in a sample of WIC participants in 2 Illinois counties (n = 380). A cross-sectional survey was used, which examined soy foods intake, behavioral beliefs, subjective norms, motivation, and intention. Soy product intake was low at both sites, and many participants (40%) did not know that soy milk was WIC approved. Most (> 70%) wanted to comply with their health care providers, but didn't know their opinions about soy milk (50-66%). Intention was significantly correlated with intake (0.507, P ${\leq}$ 0.01; 0.308, P ${\leq}$ 0.05). Environmental beliefs (0.282 and 0.410, P ${\leq}$ 0.01) and expectancy beliefs (0.490 and 0.636, P ${\leq}$ 0.01) were correlated with intention. At site 1, 30% of the variance in intention to consume soy milk was explained by expectancy beliefs and subjective norm beliefs (P < 0.0001); at site 2, 40% of the variance in intention was explained by expectancy beliefs. The TPB variables of expectancy beliefs predicted intention to consume soy milk in WIC participants. Therefore, knowing more about the health benefits of soy and how to cook with soy milk would increase WIC participants' intention to consume soy milk. Positive messages about soy milk from health care providers could influence intake.

초등학교 교사의 영양교육에 대한 인식 조사 연구 (Perception of Elementary School Teachers about Nutrition Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of teacher's perception about the nutrition education of elementary schooL The results of this study were as follows. Most of the teachers responded that nutrition education necessitate in curriculum of elementary school, the main reason for necessity of nutrition education was for proper growth, they thought starting period of nutrition education was to begin when children are in a kindergarten and a infant home. The perception for a suitable person to teach the nutrition education showed dietician, parents, class teacher and a related teacher in oder and the time of that is a related class, as a spare time at everyday, a special activity time, and service a meal in order. Importances of the contents of a nutrition education were proper eating habits, growth and nutrition, a food hygiene and a disease in order. Problems of elementary students' nutrition were a unbalanced eating, a ingestion a processing and instant food too much, lack of table manner, fatness and a weak child in order. The most of expected effects through the nutrition education were a good table habits and manners, the way of a efficient nutrition education were a need of link with parents, a need of link the dietician. a teacher's class and training in order. The average score of nutrition knowledge was 6.3$\sim$6.9 out of 10 and teachers of Gwangju scored more higher on nutrition knowledge than teachers of Jeonnam, as they arranged a dietician was so.

우유(牛乳) 및 유제품(乳製品)의 소비행동(消費行動0에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Consumption of Milk and Milk Products)

  • To determine patterns of preference for and consumption of milk and milk products in Seoul city, a study was conducted of 724 girls and 587 boys ranging in age from elementary school to collage level, from July to August, 1974. Findings are summarized as follows: In general, milk and milk products were liked by both children and adults. A contrasting low tendency to purchase such products was due to socioeconomics, habitual, and educational factors, as well as a lack of adequate nutritional information, especially with regard to milk. Knowledge of the value of milk as a source of calcium was lacking, especially among boys. The majority of homemakers understood that milk was nutritious, but not specifically as the best source of calcium for their families. Milk, especially in beverage form, was commonly regarded as food for the infant and small child. Grandparents would not drink it. Such a beliefe is similar to that found in under-developed or developing nations. The need for nutrition education must be emphasized. Milk and milk products are expensive foods, particularly for the low income family; but even in higher income levels, consumption was limited. Milk was consumed mostly by the younger family members, less by the older. Among the children, preference, knowledge, and concern with the nutritional value of milk increased with age of subjects. It is presumed that awareness improved with increasing length of school education. Greater frequency of milk intolerance was found with decreasing age of respondents: about 10 percent had some form of milk intolerance. This percentage will be found to be much higher in villages where milk is less familiar. This study indicated that respondents liked ice cream best of all the milk products. For beverage, they preferred cider and cola in summer, coffee and milk in winter. Smaller families consumed more milk than larger families. Household consumption of condensed milk was very low, mostly as coffeemate. Among households interviewed, as many had regular as irregular delivery of dairy milk. Average consumption ranged 0.5 to 1.5 Hop. Engel indices of these families ranged 20 to 60. Use of milk at home was very simple. Not many methods of preparation were found. The milk was used mostly as beverage. In order to improve the nutritional level of Korean children and adults who especially need additional calcium, milk and milk products are recommended as the best source of calcium. Nutrition education of children and their parents should receive greater emphasis.

일개 농촌지역 다문화가정의 이유식에 대한 지식, 태도 및 실천 (Baby Food Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Multi-cultural Families in a Rural Area)

  • 본 연구는 농촌지역 다문화가정의 이유식 실태와 지식, 태도 등을 살펴보고자 2015년 12월부터 2016년 3월까지 설문조사로 진행되었으며 92명을 최종 대상으로 하였다. 조사내용으로는 가구 및 아기에 대한 일반적인 특성, 이유식 실태, 이유식에 대한 지식, 태도, 실천 등이었다. 이유식 지식 평균점수는 3.79였고, 태도 평균점수는 4.07이었으며, 실천군은 25.0%였다. 이유식 지식에서는 총 자녀수가 2명 이상, 아기 어머니의 학력이 높은 경우, 출신국적이 중국 또는 일본, 한국어 능력이 상급, 아기 아버지의 학력이 높은 경우, 결혼생활 기간이 6년 이상, 아기 할머니와 동거하지 않는 경우, 이유식 주담 당자가 아기 어머니인 경우, 이유식 상담 및 교육을 받은 경우에서 높았다(p<0.05). 이유식 태도에서는 총 자녀수가 2명 이상, 아기 어머니 한국어 능력이 상급, 이유식 주담당자가 아기 어머니인 경우와 이유식 상담 및 교육을 받은 경우에서 높았다(p<0.05). 이유식 실천에서는 아기 어머니 출신국적이 일본과 캄보디아인 경우, 직업이 없는 경우, 이유식 주담당자가 아기 어머니인 경우에서 높았다(p<0.05). 이유식 실천에 따른 지식과 태도 점수를 보면, 이유식 실천군에서 지식(p<0.001) 및 태도가 미실천군보다 높았다. 다문화가정의 영유아 이유식 실천을 위해서 우선 이유식 주담당자인 아기 어머니를 대상으로 한국어 능력을 향상시키는 것이 중요하며, 주변 동료 지지자를 활용해서 이유식과 관련된 올바른 정보를 제공하는 것이 요구된다. 또한 다문화가정의 문화를 이해하면서 출신국적에 따른 차별화된 맞춤형 교육 및 서비스 제공이 필요하다.

유아의 우유군의 섭취가 식이의 다양성과 영양소 섭취의 적정도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Milk Group Intake to Dietary Diversity Score and Nutrient Adequacy Ratio among Toddler)

  • This research was conduced to 1) examine the influence of milk group intake on the dietary, considering dietary diversity and nutrient adequacy, 2) identify which foods truly contribute to the intake of specific nutrients 3) point out the dietary problems of this age group. The subjects were 664(male 357, female 307) healthy toddlers of the ages of 12-36 months, who had neither been taking any medicine-type supplements nor had any diseases that affect the dietary intakes, chosen among the outpatients of university and private hospitals in Seoul and Kyonggi province during Mach-August, 1999. The 24 hour recall method and CAN Pro(food analysis program) were used to analyze the amount of nutrient intake. The grouping of the subjects for the analysis by monthly age was based on the 98 Korean Child growth standard. The results that the milk group intake showed significant negative correlations with the grain group(r=-0.194, p<0.01), the vegetable group(r=-0.115, p<0.01) and the fruit group(r=-0.125, p<0.01). It also showed that the more the milk group intake, the lower the Dietary Diversity Score(r=-0.131, p<0.01), and the more the intake of raw milk, the more dificient the intake of iron(r=-0.211, p<0.01), vitamin A(r=-0.169,p<0.01), vitamin B$_1$(r=-0.078, p<0.05) and vitamin C(r=-0.187, p<0.01). Foods contributory to nutrient intake for of 12-14 months of were mostly infant formula, and the contribution ratio was high. In the age of 15-17 months, the subjects obtained most of the nutrients from raw milk., liquid-type yoghurt, soybean milk, cooked rice, etc. As for iron intake, the age of 21-23 month obtained the most from ionic drinks, and 24-29 months from raw milk, chocolate cakes, ionic drinks, etc. Though the NAR(Nutrient Adequacy Ratio) and MAR(Mean Adequacy Ratio) generally tended to increase accordingly with the DDs, as for nutrients Ca, vitamin A, vitamin B$_1$, and vitamin C the NAR marked the highest when the DDS marked the lowest(due to infant formula). And for iron, even when the DDS was 5 the NAR value was low. Im conclusion, the more the milk group intake, the lower was the dietary diversity. High dependency on infant formula and others from milk group over the age of 12 months proved to result in a decrease of nutritious solid food intake, iron deficiency and a low dietary diversity score, which can lead to an unbalanced diet. Therefore, nutrition education towards mothers/caretakers of toddler is of urgent need, in order to reduce the fluid milk group intake of low nutritional density and to provide various solid foods the children. 맞벌이 가정과 전업주부 가정 미취학 자녀의 신체발달과 영양섭취상태 비교연구 (A Comparison of Growth Development and Nutrient Intakes between Double Income Families' and Full-Time Housewives' Preschool Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the comparison of growth development, bone mineral density and nutrient intakes between double income families' preschool children(DIFPC) and full-time housewives' preschool children(FHPC). Subjects were 111 preschool children. Anthropometric characteristics and bone mineral density in right forearm were measured. The questionnaire was composed of health status, life style, dietary behaviors, and dietary intakes and was completed by the children's mothers. The average age of the DIFPC(n=60) was 53.02 months and that of the FHPC(n=51) was 54.80 months. The birth height and weight of the subjects were 50.47㎝ and 3.27㎏ for DIFPC and 50.85㎝ and 3.36㎏ for FHPC, respectively. The average height, weight, % body fat, and obesity index were 108.50㎝, 18.35㎏, 15.35%, 96.71% in DIFPC and 111.46㎝, 19.64㎏, 16.80%, 97.31% in FHPC, respectively. The bone mineral density in forearm of two groups were 0.24g/㎠ in all. The infant feeding method was significantly different between DIFPC and FHPC; 58.9% of DIFPC was fed formula, while 44.4% of FHPC was fed breast milk(p<0.05). Proportions of children for their regular meal were 59.4%, 89.6%, and 61.0% for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, respectively. The major reasons for irregular meal were lack of time and poor appetite for breakfast and snacks for lunch and dinner. Most of the children answered they have snack over once a day, and 60.0% have unbalanced diet. The intakes of energy, calcium, iron, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin B1, niacin, and vitamin C did not meet the Korean RDAs. The intakes of K and vitamin A for DIFPC were significantly higher than those of FHPC(p<0.05, p<0.05). In conclusion, double income families' preschool children more have a low frequency of breast feeding and low intakes of micro nutrients, such as K and vitamin A than full-time housewives' ones.

아버지의 영아 돌봄에 관한 문헌연구 (A Study of father's care giving in infancy)

  • These days social and economical changes have influence on the structure of family and the role of family members. Working mothers and widowers with children are increasing because of economical difficulties. Support from relatives are decreasing because of the conspicuous trend toward nuclear families. According to these reasons androgynous fathers are required. Today's fathers in Korea socially and culturally have learned about traditional parenting, but they are changing their fathering styles to meet the demands of the times. However they don't have their own fathering models. Therefore nurses who hold an advantageous position to teach and support from clinic have to encourage them to care their infants. The purposes of this study were to define father's care giving in infancy, understand influencing factors on fathering, and the differences between fathering and mothering, then contribute to nursing implementation for supporting fathers. This study was designed to review references about father's care giving. The results were follows: Six aspects of parent participation were direct care. indirect care, play, decision-making concerning the child, amount of time of sole responsibility for the child and overall availability to the child. Direct care involved feeding, bathing, going to child if child awakens. dressing, putting child to bed, taking child to doctor, nurse, or dentist, transporting child to and from sitter, day care, or school, washing child's hair. Indirect care involved cleaning up after child, preparing child's food, fixing child's broken playthings, washing child's clothes, arranging baby-sitting, shopping for child's toys and clothes, transporting baby-sitter to and from your home. Young fathers were gradually participating in direct care like feeding, taking child to doctor. Father's care giving stimulated mothering and promoted parent-infant relationship. Influencing factors of fathering would be divided into father characteristics, surrounding factors, infant attributes. Father characteristics were age, role perception, relationship with parent. Surrounding factors were the opportunity of early contact, support system, spouse's expectation, marital adjustment, feeding type, past experience of care giving. Infant attributes were temperament, behavior, age, sex. The differences between fathering and mothering were reviewed. Fathers were poor at care giving. but their caring was similar to mother's. This subtle difference positively worked upon infant's growth and development. On the basis of these theoretical data, nurses can empower fathers to cooperate with mothers in caring infants.

『격치여론(格致餘論)』에 나타난 양생사상(養生思想)에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thought of Regimen specified in Gyeokchiyeoron)

  • Objectives : This paper was motivated by the discovery that there is a regimen which is more realistic and can be used in practical life with deep consideration of Dangye's thought through Judangye's book Gyeokchiyeoron. Methods : First, after looking into the movement of the heart through the contents of natural science underlying Dangye's regimen thought, this paper intends to examine regimens by dividing them into a regimen of food, regimen of sexual desire, and regimen for infancy and the elderly according to age on the basis of the contents included in Gyeokchiyeoron. Results : As for food, Dangye argued that it's necessary that people should avoid overeating and savory taste and observe the proper time for eating, and as for sexual desire, Dangye argued that people should control themselves from bodily and mental aspects. In addition, this paper could learn that as for infants, what matter are eating, clothes to wear, their mother's role, and education while as for the elderly, what matter are taking good care of the spleen and stomach, and children's filial piety, and the elderly should awaken themselves to sound mentality. Conclusions : Through the research on Gyeokchiyeoron, this paper was able to learn that Dangye-argued regimen includes a regimen of food, sexual desire, and a regimen for infants and the elderly; in addition, this paper could learn that there are some parts of Dangye-argued regimen contents, which anyone can easily apply in reality.
