노인단독가구의 부엌공간 실태와 개조에 관한 연구 (Current Situation and Modification of Kitchen Space by Elderly-headed Household)

  • Kitchen space is one of the most dangerous places for the elderly. Modification of kitchen space for improving safety and independence for older residents is very important factor for aging -in-place. The purpose of this study wes to identify the current situation and modification of kitchen space by elderly-headed household. The sample included 108 respondents over the age 65 who consisted of elderly-couple or single person household with homeownership in Seoul. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Based on the findings of the study, the present incidence and recognition of future need in kitchen modification were identified. Changes in kitchen space made tended to be nonstructural or relatively inexpensive items. In conclusion, this study suggests several ideas for improving current physical problems of kitchen space to support daily living of older residents.

병렬 디스크 시스템의 모델링 및 모의 실험 (Modeling and Simulation of a Parallel Disk System)

  • 본 논문에서는 형식론적 모델링 및 모의 실험 방법을 사용하여 병렬 디스크의 성능 예측 및 영상 데이터용 비선형 편집기의 개발을 위한 여러 형태의구조에 대해서 모의 실험한 결과 및 성능에 영향을 미치는 요소들에 대해 다루고 있다. 컴퓨터가 발전하기 전에는 테이프를 이용한 선형 편집기를 사용하였으나. 컴퓨터가 발전하고 또한 입출력 장치의 성능이 향상되면서 RAID(Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disk)가 개발되었고, 이것을 이용한 비선형 편집기가 개발되었다. 병렬디스크는 비선형 편집기뿐만 아니라 VOD(Video On Demand)나 데이터 서버등 응용분야가 많고, 요구되는 성능에 따라서 다양한 구조의 병렬디스크가 사용된다. 매우 큰 대역폭이 요구되는 병렬디스크의 경우에는 다양한 버스와 버퍼를 사용한 복잡한 계층적 구조가 요구된다. 그러나 이렇게 복잡한 병렬디스크를 개발하기 에 적당한 개발 도구가 없어 필요한 성능에 꼭 맞는 시스템을 개발하기가 어렵다. 특히 디스크의 성능을 수학저으로 쉽게 구할 수 없다. 또한 시스템이 실물로 완성되기 전에는 디스크의 운영 알고리즘의 개발 및 파일 시스템의 개발이 쉽지 않다. 그래서 쉬운 소프트웨어 개발과 디스크의 성능을 쉽게 측정하기 위해서 객체 지향 성능 예측시스템(OOPPS :Objet Oriented Performance Prediction System)을 개발하였고, 이것을 이용하여 HDTV용 비선형 편집기의성능을 예측하고, 필요한 성능을 만족하는 구조를 선택하여 실물로 개발하였다.

  • 다중 디스크 드라이브가 포함된 디스크 배열 시스템에서 디스크의 수가 증가 될 때 시스템 성능은 컨트롤러의 집중화 또는 버스로 사용되는 전송 경로의 병목현상에 의해 제한되어진다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 고성능 대용량의 RAID가 등장하였으며 RAID 시스템에서 컨트롤러 기능은 모든 디스크 드라이브에 분산되고 각 디스크는 그들의 임무를 수행하는 자율성을 가진 자율적 네트웍이 일반적 계층 시스템 보다 확장성이 좋고 시스템 자원을 보다 효율적으로 이용할 수 있어 디스크 수의 증가율에 따라 높은 읽기/쓰기 처리율의 성능을 제공한다.

Near surface characteristics of concrete: prediction of freeze/thaw resistance

  • The durability of concrete is related to the permeation characteristics of its near surface. An attempt was made to use the permeation characteristics namely, absorptivity, permeability and diffusivity, to predict the freeze/thaw resistance of concrete. Test results indicate that in general, there was a trend that freeze/thaw resistance of concrete was enhanced with improved absorptivity and diffusivity whilst the freeze/thaw resistance of normal concrete was found to have the best relationship with its intrinsic permeability. The latter method is therefore proposed to be adopted to predict freeze/thaw resistance of normal concrete. Since Figg air test is an inexpensive and simple test method that measures indirectly the intrinsic permeability of concrete, it is further proposed that it could be used as a quality control tool to assess, non-destructively, the freeze/thaw durability potential of in-situ concrete.

  • Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is a potentially life-threatening condition characterised by thrombocytopenia and mediated by an autoimmune mechanism. Several recent studies have suggested that an association exists between H. pylori eradication and improvement in platelet count in a significant proportion of patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. This study confirmed the efficacy of H. pylori eradication in increasing the platelet count in steroid refractory idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura patients. Eradication therapy is simple and inexpensive, with limited toxicity and the advantage of avoiding long-term immunosuppressive treatment.

IP 주소 제한을 이용한 PC 절전 시스템 보안 설계 (A Design of PC Power-Saving System Security Using IP Address Restriction)

  • Power-saving PC software enables the inexpensive power control, but the installation of the power-saving software in all computers in the organization is not an easy task. Computer users in the organization are usually not cooperative as they do not think the power-saving cost is directly related to themselves. The PC power-saving system provides advantage to driving active participation in which users installs the power saving software by restricting IP address through the power management server. However, the problem with this approach is the security vulnerability to IP spoofing attacks, therefore we need to solve the problem that disrupt the entire network system rather than saving electric power. This paper proposes the security authentication system that can implement the efficiency saving power by providing high security for the members' computer system of the public institutions based on the PC power-saving system. Also, by analyzing it in comparison with other method, it is possible to check that the prospects of safety and efficiency are strengthened.

나노간극 구동기를 이용한 나노기계적 단백질 검출기 (Nanomechanical Protein Detectors Using Electrothermal Nano-gap Actuators)

  • This paper presents a new method and an associated device, capable of detecting protein presence and size from the shift of the mechanical stiffness changing points due to the presence and size of proteins in a nano-gap actuator. Compared to the conventional resonant detection method, the present nanomechanical stiffness detection method shows higher precision for protein detection. The present method also offers simple and inexpensive protein detection devices by removing labeling process and optical components. We design and fabricate the nanomechanical protein detector using an electrothermal actuator with a nano-gap. In the experimental study, we measure the stiffness changing points and their coordinate shift from the devices with and without target proteins. The fabricated device detects the protein presence and the protein size of 14.0$\pm$7.4nm based on the coordinate shift of stiffness changing points. We experimentally verify the protein presence and size detection capability of the nanomechanical protein detector for applications to high-precision biomolecule detection.

  • In the management of temporomandibular joint(TMJ) disorders, dental practioner should conduct the reversible, conservative, and inexpensive treatment modalities prior to the irreversible and invasive treatment. That is to say, behavioral, pharmacologic, and physical therapy should be conducted firstly, and then the occlusal appliance therapy could be considered. If patients do not react to these conservative treatments, we have to consider surgical treatments. If the accurate diagnosis is confirmed by intimate history taking, clinical and imaging examinations, we can rehabilitate the normal TMJ function and relieve the clinical symptoms with only conservative treatments in most TMJ disorder cases.

  • To process data of digital linescan camera, the frame grabber is essential to handle the data in low-level and in high speed more than 30 MHz stably. Traditional approaches to the development of hardware in vision system for the special purpose are mai y based on PC system, and are expensive and gigantic. Therefore, there are many difficulties in applying those in the field. So we investigate, in this paper, the implementation of FPGA for real-time processing of digital linescan camera. The system is not based on PC, but electronic device such as micropncessor. So it is expected that the use of FPGAs for low-level processing represents a fast, stable and inexpensive system. The experiments are carried out on the web guiding system in order to show the efficiency of the new image processor.

  • Switched Reluctance Motors have an inexpensive, intrinsic simplicity and low cost that makes them well suited to home appliance and office applications. However the motor suffering with necessity of shaft position sensor, lead to non-linearity of operations. Further, the involvement of static converters deteriorates the operational power factor. Implementation of a sensorless algorithm, can remove the need of position sensors. Also, the drive includes a compact power factor control in the input stage by implementing Zero Current Switching Quasi-Resonant Boost Technology. This paper presented, aims at optimized low line current distortion, high power factor, low cost and a shaft position sensorless Switched Reluctance Motor drive.
