  • The purpose of this study was to analyze achievements in industry - academia cooperation and to draw policy implications. To accomplish this, I analyzed the achievements of industry - academia cooperation in a timely manner. Research shows that the total research fund of universities has (consistently)increased, and the intellectual property rights in various fields have increased. Domestic patents are the most successful, and design and trademarks have significantly increased. Second, as the number of patent applications increases, the required research funding per piece has decreased, and the productivity has increased significantly. In addition, the number of technology patents exceeded 4 per 1 billion won of research funding. The third transfer period of technology started in earnest following the establishment of the Industry-University Cooperation Act in 2003, and has shown positive results. A recent trend, however, has been a tendency that the technology fee per technology transfer has been declining. It is necessary to evaluate the industry-university cooperation system and improve the performance of the technical fee. In addition, it is necessary to increase research funding not only in science and technology, but also in the humanities and social sciences.

Industry-academia cooperation is an innovation network policy that supports joint research between industry and academia. In this respect, The Flow of recent government policy is activating I-U support office in university & research institute for enable I-U Cooperation ecosystem. Then SMB Administration was first performed "research village support program", to support SMEs in industry-university cooperative research capabilities by integrating the research, development and commercializatin of the university or research institution with excellent research base in 2013. However, I-U Cooperation R&D must be based the link strategy of Localization in order to be better composition at research village. In the case of research villages where specialized discovery strategies are well reflected, integration of similar companies in specialized fields will naturally create clusters and create synergy of research. This study searching and summarizing through a recent Hanbat National University research village. Finally, we propose the implications of government policy.

  • This study aims to develop a distress prediction model and to evaluate distress prediction power for the food services industry by using 2017 food service industry financial ratios. Samples were collected from 46 food service industries, and we extracted 14 financial ratios from them. The results show that, first, there are eight ratios (financial ratio, current ratio, operating income to sales, net income to assets, ratio of cash flows, income to stockholders' equity, rate of operating income, and total asset turnover) that can discriminate failures in food service industries and the top-level food service industries. Second, by using these eight financial ratios, the logit function classifies the top-level food service industries, and failures in the food service industry can be estimated by using logit analysis. The verification results as to accuracy in the estimated logit analysis indicate that the model's distress-prediction power is 89.1%.

  • Innovative capacities and performance are essential for the growth of the IT industry and the development of the Korean economy. Global R&D centers are important sources of innovation in the IT industry. In order to identify the structure of the innovation environment of global R&D centers in IT industry, we conducted a field survey of 50 global R&D centers and 50 global R&D policy experts in IT industry. According to the empirical results obtained using the Linear Structure Model, it is suggested that, first, with regard to a short-term IT global policy, the direction of the Korean government's policy should act as a trigger to connect the research domain and the market domain; second, the government policy should act as a facilitator to connect the development domain and the research domain in the mid-term period; and, finally, the government's R&D policy should serve as a disseminator to connect technological capability and the market space domain in the long-term perspective. For an effective way of internationalizing innovation, IT policy planners should regard global IT R&D centers as the important components of national innovation system and encourage the effective involvements by them in the process of IT industrial innovation.

  • In this study, the LINC project is finished and a new LINC+ has begun. For the settlement of mutual cooperation in universities and corporations, the main agenda of LINC+ project, this research attempts to find factors that are important to industries rather than the measurement of performance closely related to universities. From the companies' perspective, it is not easy to measure how much they are benefiting from mutual cooperation, although there are quantitative performance determinants such as sales, employment and export growth. Therefore, while estimating the satisfaction of industrial-educational cooperation and simultaneously estimating the satisfaction's effect to the development of companies, we try to estimate the contribution of satisfaction towards company development through subjective indicators. Through these efforts, we will raise the credibility of government policies through the cultivation of talented individuals who are customized to the industry through the cultivation of "Industry-Leading Universities" that we intend to pursue through the implementation of LINC+ business, and small and medium enterprises. Innovative support and the cooperation of industry-universities will increase job creation and ensure consistent industry. We will contribute to the mutual development of universities and industries.

  • This study focuses on the internalization process of service sector, especially on the foreign market entry modes of Korean healthcare industry. The paper examined the effects of country and firm specific factors, and strategic elements of the industry on the selection of foreign market entry modes by using multiple regression analysis. The findings indicate that firms' global experience and documented strategic assets have significant effects on the high control organizational types in the selection of entry mode while the other determinants including size of the firm were found to be less significance. This study provides the academic implications to the subject of the internationalization of Asian service industry and the practical reference to this highly specialized soft service sector.
