고 발열량 산업폐기물을 처리하는 소형 소각로의 소각 및 배출 특성 (Combustion and Emission Characteristics of High Calorific Industrial Waste Burned in a Small-scale Incinerator)

  • Experiments on burning process of the industrial wastes were performed on a nozzle-type grate in the industrial waste incinerator with a capacity of 160 kilograms per hour. The temporal variations of temperatures and concentrations of the exhaust gas were measured and analyzed. The synthetic leather waste with the moisture content less than 2% was used. The experimental results show that the CO concentration in the exhaust gas exceeds the limit, 600 ppm, and the gas temperature fluctuates too much when 8 kg of waste was supplied every 3 minutes, equivalent to the capacity of 160kg per hour. That is a typical burning mode of this high-calorific industrial waste. When the smaller unit waste input, 6kg per every 2 min 15 seconds was supplied, we could reduce the fluctuations of the furnace temperature and improve the exhaust emissions, especially the CO concentration.

VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS MEASUREMENT IN THE BOUNDARY OF WASTE TREATMENT FACILITIES

  • Concentrations of the principal volatile organic compounds, such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m,p,o-xylene, styrene, and chlorobenzene were measured at the solid waste treatment plants classified into four categories; municipal waste incinerator, municipal waste landfill site, industrial waste incinerator and industrial waste landfill site. The average concentration of VOCs in industrial waste treatment facilities was 33.43 ppb and was significantly higher than that measured at municipal waste treatment facilities (4.71 ppb). The average toluene concentrations measured at incinerators (13.05 ppb) were a little higher than those measured at landfill sites (11.54 ppb). The contribution of the waste treatment facilities to the concentration of benzene (0.35 ppb) and o-xylene (0.15 ppb) in the industrial area was relatively small. However, toluene measured in the industrial waste treatment facilities was the most abundant VOCs with the average concentration of 21.37 ppb. As a result of analyses of fingerprint, in cases of IISH and ILUS, a variety of compounds other than major VOCs were detected in high level. On the Pearson correlation analysis, the correlation was generally positive and some pairs of these VOCs were very strongly correlated (correlation coefficient > 0.75).

산업폐기물 소각플랜트의 작업환경개선 (Improvement of Working Surroundings in the Industrial Waste Incinerator)

  • 산업폐기물소각로에서 폐기물을 처리 시 폐기물 투입공정이나 전처리공정에서 많이 발생하는 오염물질인 입자상물질과 악취 등은 작업자의 작업능률의 저하를 초래하므로, 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 새로운 형태의 오염물질 저감설비를 설치하여 작업환경을 개선하고자 하였다. 전산유체역학을 이용하여 산업폐기물소각로에서 발생하는 오염물질의 확산경로를 예측하였으며, 이 결과를 이용하여 오염물질 저감설비의 형태와 설치 위치를 결정하였다. 오염물질 저감설비를 설치한 후, 드럼폐기물 보관장(사이트 1)과 폐합성수지 보관장(사이트 2)에서 톨루엔 83-97%, 스티렌 48-72%, 크실렌 75-87%, 암모니아 23-36%의 저감효과를 보였으며, 또한 PM-10과 TSP는 폐기물 투입구 하단부(사이트 3)에서 각각 87%와 86%, 폐기물 투입구 옆부분(사이트 4)에서 각각 87%와 85%의 저감효과를 보였다. 본 연구에서 설계한 새로운 형태의 오염물질 저감설비는 입자상물질과 악취의 제거에 뛰어난 성능을 보여 산업페기물소각로를 운용하는 다른 페기물처리업체에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Oxygen enriched incineration can increase the incineration capacity for wastes and dramatically reduce air pollutant emissions such as CO and dioxine by the allowing complete combustion of wastes in incinerator. Furthermore, this technology is proven to have many benefits including an energy-saving, cost-effective, and versatile application for diverse wastes compared with the conventional air incineration technology. The reduced pollutant emissions in flue gas and higher incineration efficiency are also available when the oxygen enriched air is used for the high temperature incineration systems. On the basis of the experimental results the oxygen enrichment system is successfully applied to the rotary kiln incinerator for industrial wastes. The oxygen enriched incineration system could be allowed more compact design of incinerator and flue gas treatment system due to both increasing incineration capacity and reducing flue gas volume. Therefore, oxygen enriched incineration technology is becoming highlighted in the waste incinerator which strongly require more stable efficiency and environmentally friendly and safe operationPut Abstract text here.

  • A lot of hazardous wastes are discharged as by-products of working process by industrial development. Hazardous wastes is physical characteristics of difficult destruction at hight temperature. Numerical simulation and combustion experiment performed of dump incinerator for hazardous waste incineration. For the numerical simulation, the SIMPLEST algorithm was used to ensure rapid converge A K-$\varepsilon$ model was incorporate for the enclosure of turbulence flow. Combustion model was used by ESCRS (extended simple chemically reacting system) model available of CHEMKIN thermodynamic data for the source term of species conservation equation or energy equation. Radiation model is used by six flux model. A parametric screening studies was carried out through numerical simulation and experiment. Residence time and concentration in the incinerator was strongly dependent on the parameters of mixture velocity, mixture equilibrium ratio, surrogate velocity and surrogate equilibrium ratio.

폐폴리에틸렌 필름의 재활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Recycling of Waste Polyethylene Film)

  • 폐폴리에틸렌 필름을 재활용하기 위하여 폐폴리에틸렌과 비산재를 사용하여 콤파운드를 제조하였다. 실험에 사용한 고분자는 생활쓰레기에서 분리수거한 폴리에틸렌(PE)과 포장용 필름을 생산하는 공장에서 발생하는 스크랩에서 얻어지는 저밀도폴리에틸렌(LDPE)과 선형저밀도폴리에틸렌(LLDPE)이다. 폐폴리에틸렌의 물리적 성질을 개량시키기 위하여 화력발전소 굴뚝에서 포집한 석탄재와 생활쓰레기 소각로굴뚝에서 얻어지는 비산재를 사용하였다. 발전소 석탄재를 투입하면 재활용 LDPE와 LLDPE 콤파운드의 인장강도는 감소하고 굴곡모듈러스는 증가하였다. 역청탄재를 혼합한 경우에 비하여 무연탄재를 투입한 LLDPE 콤파운드의 인장강도와 굴곡강도가 약간 높았으며, 이는 무연탄재가 다소 많은 량의 미연소 탄소를 가지기 때문으로 사료된다. 생활쓰레기에서 얻어진 PE 단독에 소각로 비산재를 투입하면 인장강도와 굴곡강도가 모두 증가하였다. 이와 같은 소각로 비산재에 의한 상승효과는 생활쓰레기 PE에 포장용 필름 스크랩의 LDPE를 섞게 되면 Filler 입자가 LDPE의 결정화를 방해하기 때문에 상쇄되는 현상이 관찰되었다. 소각로 비산재를 혼합하여 생활쓰레기 PE를 재활용한 콤파운드는 하수관 등을 제조하는 원료로 사용이 가능하다. 본 연구결과를 폐플라스틱의 재활용에 적용시키면 폐기물처리 비용을 절감하고 환경보존과 자원절약에 기여할 수 있다.

산업폐기물 소각시설에서 폐기물 유형에 따른 입자상물질의 배출특성 (Emission Characterization of Particulate Matters According to the Types of Wastes from Industrial Waste Incinerator)

  • The emissions characteristics of particulate matters(PM) according to the types of wastes from industrial waste incinerator of 800 kg/hr treatment capacity were investigated. For this study, the incinerate waste are as follows; waste resin, waste wood, waste urethane, waste gunny, and waste paper. The particulate samples were collected to be emitted in stack and air pollution control(both cyclone and bag filter). In stack, the concentrations of PM were in the range of 2.61 to $26.51 mg/Sm^3$ and the major chemical species were C, Si, Cl, K, Na, Ca in all the wastes. In cyclone fly ash, the mean content of heavy metal were in the order of Fe > Zn > Pb > Cu > Mn > Cr > Ni > Cd > As > Hg and the heavy metal content of waste resin were Zn 34,197.5 mg/kg, Fe 27,587.6 mg/kg, Pb 6,055.8 mg/kg, respectively. In bag filter fly ash, the mean content of heavy metal were in the order of Zn > Pb > Fe > Cu > Mn > Cd > Cr > Ni > As > Hg and the heavy metal content of waste wood were Pb 36,405.2 mg/kg, Fe 15,762.9 mg/kg, Cu 9,989.5 mg/kg, Cd 2,230.1 mg/kg, respectively. Comparing the heavy metal content of both cyclone and bag filter, in cyclone, the Cr, Fe, Ni content were higher than in bag filter and the Cd, Cu, Hg content were lower than in bag filter.

폐기물 소각시 중금속 성분의 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Behavior of Heavy Metals during Waste Incineration)

  • The incineration tests of mixed industrial wastes using the stoker type incinerator are carried out to investigate the partitioning characteristics of heavy metals during incineration. The results obtained from this study are as follow. The partitioning characteristics of heavy metals throughout this incinerator are found that, at given condition of $700^{\circ}C$, the elements with the relatively high boiling point such as Cr, Cu and Pb are partitioned into a bottom ash, a fry ash captured tv cyclone, and a flue gas stream, 67~88%, 2~19% and 6~16% of initial amount entering the incinerator, respectively, but the Cd and Hg of 75~81% is vaporized into the flue gas. It appears that the partitioning characteristics according to the particle size of ash is different between the bottom ash and the fly ash. For bottom ash, the fraction of partitioning into 75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ oversized particles is reatively high. For fly ash, the characteristics of distributions with the particle size can not be clearly shown.

  • A pilot scale (200kg/hr) pyrolysis melting incineration system is designed and constructed in Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. The incineration process is composed of pyrolysis, gas combustion, ash melting, gas stabilization, waste heating boiler, and bag filter. For each unit process, experimental approaches have been conducted to find optimal design and operating conditions. Especially, a pyrolysis is very important process in that it is a way of energy recirculation and minimizing the waste products. This paper presents major results of the most efficient operating conditions in a pilot scale pyrolysis melting incinerator.

Aspen plus를 이용한 산업폐기물 소각로의 배가스 처리 공정 모사 (Simulation of the flue gas treatment processes of an industrial-waste incinerator using Aspen plus)

  • 최근 들어 지속적인 폐기물 발생량의 증가와 화석 연료 고갈 문제를 해결하기 위해 폐기물을 이용한 열에너지 회수에 대한 관심이 증가 하고 있다. 에너지 회수를 위한 폐기물 처리공정으로 소각이 가장 많이 이용되고 있으나 소각 시 발생되는 대기오염물질을 처리하기 위한 공정 설계 및 설치비용이 많이 소요된다. 본 연구에서는 화학공정을 모사하는 software인 Aspen plus를 이용하여 실제 산업폐기물 소각로와 배가스처리 공정을 모사해 보았다. 소각공정은 폐기물 연소를 위한 1차 연소와 2차 연소, urea를 이용하여 $NO_x$를 환원시키는 SNCR공정과 연소시 발생하는 에너지 회수를 위한 스팀 생산 공정으로 구성되어 있다. 연소시 발생하는 산성가스(HCl, $SO_2$)를 제거하기 위하여 슬러리 상태의 $Ca(OH)_2$를 주입하였으며 산성가스 중화시 생성되는 부산물과 ash는 bag filter에서 제거하는 것으로 모사 하였다. 모사결과는 실제 산업폐기물 소각로의 배가스 처리 효율과 비교적 잘 일치하였으며 또한 장래 배가스 처리 시스템의 효율을 예측하는데도 이용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
