  • This study was conducted to identify the effects of baby care using dolls on nursing students' contraceptive attitude, sexual attitude, and recognition of unmarried mothers. A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group, pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects of the study were 104 nursing college students who agreed to participate. The control group (n=52) received lecture sex education while the experimental group (n=52) received lecture sex education and baby care education using a doll. The contraceptive attitude, sexual attitude, and unmarried mother's recognition were then examined. Data were collected from September to December, 2017 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-tests, and t-tests with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The scores of contraceptive attitude differed significantly between the experimental group and the control group (t=4.66, p=<0.001). Additionally, the sexual attitude score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group (t=-2.23, p=0.028), with pleasure playfulness showing a significant decrease (F=3.96, p=<0.001). However, recognition of unmarried mothers did not differ significantly between groups (t=-0.08, p=0.937). Overall, the results showed that baby care using a doll has positive effects on contraceptive attitude and sexual attitude. In the future, effective sex education should include methods that complement lectures.

Subjects were 82 nurses who graduated one nursing college within five years and 68 managers in nursing unit of hospital. Questions were given to nurses. They reported their achievement of educational objectives of the nursing college, critical thinking disposition and clinical competence. Nursing unit managers received the same questions to evaluate nurses working at their unit. Data were collected from January to march 2014 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Mean scores for achievement of educational objectives, critical thinking disposition, and clinical competence were $3.60{\pm}0.60$, $3.46{\pm}0.28$, and $4.17{\pm}0.56$, respectively. Educational objectives achievement showed significant correlations with critical thinking disposition (r = 0.52, p <. 001) and clinical competence (r = 0.52, p < .001). Regression analysis showed that critical thinking disposition (${\beta}=.30$, p = .018) and clinical competence (${\beta}=.26$, p = .029) were significant factors for predicting educational objectives achievement. Manager's evaluation score for educational objectives achievement and clinical competence was higher than graduated nurses' report (p < .001). This could be used as a feed- back to reset educational objectives and upgrade the curriculum. These study results could be used to, establish strategies to improve educational objectives achievement.

  • This descriptive research study investigated the relationships between different degrees of family support, ego-resilience and employment volition of patients suffering from alcohol use disorder, and we identified the factors that had an influence on employment volition. This study used the survey research technique and structured questionnaires. The data was collected from 128 males (aged 20 years or older) and who had been diagnosed with alcohol use disorder. They had also undergone either inpatient hospital care or outpatient treatment. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study showed that family support had a value of 4.30, an ego resilience had a value of 2.37 and the employment volition had a value of 4.06. The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that there was statistically significant positive correlation between employment volition and ego resilience (${\beta}=-.314$, p<.01) and age (${\beta}=-.253$, p<.01), and the total explanatory power of these 2 factors was 16.3%. According to the results of this study, age-based approaches are needed to improve the employment volition of patients with alcohol use disorder. Additionally, the results of this study suggest that an ego resilience enhancement program be developed and implemented to help these patients.
