  • The purpose of this study was to examine difference in life satisfaction by social activity type in baby boomers. Sampling 1,115 baby boomers, gender and region were assigned. A questionnaire survey was carried out from August to October in 2011. As a result of research, first, the typology of social activity in baby boomers includes 3 groups. The passive social-participation type is the cluster to which 36.8% of the baby boomers belong. They do not join income activity or civic-group activity at all. A case of doing religious activity or family activity includes a minority. There are primarily lots of women and posteriori baby boomers. Academic background level or household income is lower compared to other clusters. The life satisfaction level is moderate. Second, the active social-participation type is the cluster to which 33.8% of the baby boomers belong. They are positive in all the social activities including income activity. What there are lots of women and posteriori baby boomers is similar to the passive social-participation type. However, the academic background or the averagely monthly household income is the highest compared to other clusters. Even the life satisfaction level is the highest. Third, the economic activity orientation type is the cluster to which 29.4% of the baby boomers belong. They participate in income activity, but don't participate in civic-group activity, educational activity, and social activity such as spending time alone. Distribution of priori-and-posteriori baby boomers, distribution of academic background, or monthly household income is moderate level of other clusters. However, unlike other clusters, there are many men. The life satisfaction level is the lowest. Based on result of this study are suggested ways to improve in life satisfaction by social activity type in baby boomers.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the type of health behaviors in Korean adults and to identify related factors. The data used in the analysis was the Korea Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2014., which was representative of the Korean population. Cluster analysis was used to find the pattern of clustering of smoking, drinking, exercising and nutrition. Differences in the pattern of clustering was examined, first by bivariate chi-square test, and then by multinomial logit regression. Lastly, the association between the clusters of health behaviors and other behavioral risk factors was tested by chi-square test and logistic regression. The distribution of the clusters varied not only across socioeconomic characteristics and local size, but also between individuals with certain chronic diseases and those without. The results of this study can be used as a basis for the usefulness of approaching the cluster rather than individually approaching the health behavior.

  • The purpose of this research was to present characteristics for the classification of biotopes and classification method of biotopes as basic data for ecological landscape planning in Metropolitan Daegu. The results of this study were as follows. 1) The study identified fifteen characteristics for classification of biotopes. Ecological landscape characteristics were divided into structural and functional factors. There are six structural factors such an inclination, and nine functional factors such as temperature. 2) The study area was separated into sixty eight biotope types. For example, an industrial district was divided into two biotope types: a biotope type of an industrial district with abundant green space, and a biotope type of an industrial district with scarce green space. 3) In the result of cluster analysis using the average linkage method between groups, biotope groups were divided into fifteen clusters and biotope groups were divided into seven clusters. Each cluster was named according to the features of a descriptive statistics analysis. For example, cluster 8 was identified as a biotope type with an impermeable pavement rate of more than 90 percent and an afforestation rate under 10 percent. 4) Fifteen biotope groups were converted to land use patterns for remote application and utilization of urban biotope in city planning. Biotope groups of a building area beyond an intermediate floor with an afforestation rate under 20-30 percent was converted to a land use pattern such as a tall apartment complex or commercial district. When examining the characteristics that were established in this research, there was a limit to achieve the objective of grade-classification because of a lack of related basic data. The research of landscape ecological characteristics for the classification of biotopes could not be completed due to a lack of time and resources, thus the study of ecological landscape characteristics will be accomplished over time.

  • Vehicle Scheduling Problem (VSP) is a generic name given to a whole class of problems involving the visiting of "stations" by "vehicles," where a time is associated with each activity. The studies performed to date have the common feature of a single objective while satisfying a set of restrictions and known customer supplies or demands. However, VSPs may involve relevant multiple objectives and probabilistic supplies or demands at stations, creating multicriteria stochastic VSPs. This paper proposes a heuristic algorithm based on goal programming approach to schedule the most satisfactory vehicle routes of a bicriteria VSP with probabilistic supplies at stations. The two relevant objectives are the minimization of the expected travel distance of vehicles and the minimization of the due time violation for collection service at stations by vehicles. The algorithm developed consists of three major stages. In the first stage, an artificial capacity of vehicle is determined, on the basis of decision maker's subjective estimates. The second one clusters a set of stations into subsets by applying an efficient cluster method developed. In the third one, the stations in each subset are scheduled by applying an iterative goal programming heuristic procedure to each cluster.

  • Gustafson and Kessel proposed a modified fuzzy c-Means algorithm based of the Mahalanobis distance. Though the algorithm appears more natural through the use of a fuzzy covariance matrix, it needs to calculate determinants and inverses of the c-fuzzy scatter matrices. This paper proposes a fuzzy clustering algorithm using pseudo mahalanobis distance, which is more easy to use and flexible than the Gustafson and Kessel's fuzzy c-Means.

  • Process mining aims at mining valuable information from process execution results (called "event logs"). Even though process mining techniques have proven to be a valuable tool, the mining results from real process logs are usually too complex to interpret. The main cause that leads to complex models is the diversity of process logs. To address this issue, this paper proposes a trace clustering approach that splits a process log into homogeneous subsets and applies existing process mining techniques to each subset. Based on log profiles from a process log, the approach uses existing clustering techniques to derive clusters. Our approach are implemented in ProM framework. To illustrate this, a real-life case study is also presented.

  • Korea has relied on top down development method, in which companies, research and education institutions move into the industrial complexes established by the government. However, to improve local competitiveness, the paradigm is shifting from the government initiated industrial complex to the clusters based on the cooperative network of the region. Representative case is 'Samcheok-si Fire & Emergency industry cluster construction project' that begun in 2007. AHP technique analysis results on first-stage showed that priority was on policy and network elements, and the results of second-stage analysis show that priority was on Policy incentives to internationalize the cluster and strengthen link,. Cluster branding, Sharing of organizational culture to cope with changes in environment, Creation of group learning culture. The subject of this research is limited to Samcheok-si's the Fire and Emergency Industry cluster formation project. Therefore, the research area and standard should be expanded to increase generality in further researches.

  • Literature on cluster theory and cluster policy has been focused on the differences between mature industrial areas and innovative regions. Mature industrial areas are described as possessing little competence for innovation and lacking entrepreneurship to be transferred an innovative region, say, an innovative cluster. Old industrial regions are, however, rich in social capital, local networking, and regional institutionalization. This paper compares Buchon's mature industries with Daejon's bio-sector new start-ups in terms of innovative potential, socio-economic and cultural-economic mechanisms. Policy implications such as networking and business support systems on the differential types of industrial regions are offered.

  • With the growing interest in skincare and maintenance, there are increasing numbers of studies on the classification of skin type and the factors influencing each type. This study presents a novel methodology by using data mining, for the determination of the relationships between skin type, lifestyle, and patterns of cosmetic utilization. Eight skin-specific factors, which are moisture, sebum in U-zone (both cheeks), sebum in T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), pore, melanin, wrinkle, acne, hemoglobin, were measured in 1,246 subjects living in South Korea, in conjunction with a questionnaire survey analyzing their lifestyles and pattern of cosmetic utilization. Using various multivariate statistical methods and data mining techniques, we classified the skin types based on the skin-specific values, determined the relationship between skin type and lifestyle, and accordingly sorted the subjects into clusters. Logistic regression analysis revealed gender-related differences in the skin; therefore, separate analyses were performed for males and females. Using the Gaussian Mixture Modeling (GMM) technique, we classified the subjects based on skin type (two male and four female). Using the ANOVA and decision tree techniques, we attempted to characterize the relationship between each skin type and the lifestyles of the subjects. Menstruation, eating habits, stress, and smoking were identified as the major factors affecting the skin.

  • This study aims to reveal the ways to sharpen the edges of Korean companies through the relativity analysis between knowledge management and innovational cluster in environmental changes in resent Busan. That is, according to the knowledge management approach, the methods and directions of strengthening industrial competition were established, while the strategy of innovational clusters was suggested as a way of expanding and encouraging knowledge management. The key words of innovational cluster are in this research are the framework of Cluster theory, the importance of innovational cluster, and the change of managerial strategy paradigm. This study provide the several implication for the practice of knowledge management and the researchers. Based on these theories of knowledge management and industrial clusters, their close relationships were analyzed. As a result, industrial clusters were found to be effectively utilized to enlarge and deepen knowledge management. In addition, this suggests the efficient operation guideline of knowledge management. this study indicates both knowledge and innovational cluster should be operated and handled together in the managerial strategy. but this research has limitations in generaling the study result because it collects data from local firms only in Busan.
