In wireless power transfer systems, it is important to design resonant energy links in order to increase the power transfer efficiency and to obtain desired system performances. This paper proposes a method for designing and analyzing the resonant energy links in a series-series configured IPT (inductive power transfer) system using the FOM-rd plane. The proposed FOM-rd graphical design plane can analyze and design the voltage gain and the power efficiency of the energy links while considering changes in the misalignment between the coils and the termination load condition. In addition, the region of the bifurcation phenomena, where voltage gain peaks are split over the frequency, can also be distinctly identified on the graphical plane. An example of the design and analysis of a 100 W inductive power transfer system with the proposed method is illustrated. The proposed method is verified by measuring the voltage gain and power efficiency of implemented hardware.
Purpose In this paper, we propose the method to extend topic modeling techniques in order to derive data-based research hypotheses when establishing research hypotheses for social sciences, As a concept in contrast to the existing deductive hypothesis establishment methodology for the social science research, the topic modeling technique was expanded to enable the so-called inductive hypothesis establishment methodology, and an analysis case of the Seongsan Ilchulbong online review based on the proposed methodology was presented. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, an extension architecture and extension algorithm in the form of extending the existing topic modeling were proposed. The extended architecture and algorithm include data processing method based on topic ratio in document, correlation analysis and regression analysis of processed data for topics derived by existing topic modeling. In addition, in this paper, an analysis case of the online review of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak was presented by applying the extended topic modeling algorithm. An exploratory analysis was performed on the Seongsan Ilchulbong online reviews through the basic text analysis. The data was transformed into 5-point scale to enable correlation and regression analysis based on the topic ratio in each online review. A regression analysis was performed using the derived topics as the independent variable and the review rating as the dependent variable, and hypotheses could be derived based on this, which enable the so-called inductive hypothesis establishment. Findings This paper is meaningful in that it confirmed the possibility of deriving a causal model and setting an inductive hypothesis through an extended analysis of topic modeling.
The LCL resonant inductive power transfer (IPT) system is increasingly used because of its harmonic filtering capabilities, high efficiency at light load, and unity power factor feature. However, the modeling and controller design of this system become extremely difficult because of parameter uncertainty, high-order property, and switching nonlinear property. This paper proposes a frequency and load uncertainty modeling method for the LCL resonant IPT system. By using the linear fractional transformation method, we detach the uncertain part from the system model. A robust control structure with weighting functions is introduced, and a control method using structured singular values is used to enhance the system performance of perturbation rejection and reference tracking. Analysis of the controller performance is provided. The simulation and experimental results verify the robust control method and analysis results. The control method not only guarantees system stability but also improves performance under perturbation.

This paper describes separation distance to protect radiocommunication services from the interference of inductive systems using frequencies below 30 MHz for the co-existence between radiocommunication services and inductive systems. For the analysis, the interference scenario model is proposed between inductive system and radiocommunication services. Then the calculation method of protection distance is suggested by comparing the radiation power of inductive system with the allowable interference level of victim services, radiocommunication services, according to the applied propagation model. Also, the protection distance for protecting radiocommunication services in the 30 MHz below is calculated through the interference analysis from RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) and PDP(Plasma Display Panel) TV based on the suggested method. The proposed calculation method was adopted as ITU-R recommendation in related with resolution 63 at ITU-R SG(Study Group) 1 meeting in June, 2012. It will be available to use for the protection of radiocommunication services from the interference of wireless power transfer system and power line telecommunication system.
In this paper, performance of rectangular shaped magnetic power pads for inductive power transfer (IPT) system according to ferrite structure is analyzed. In order to evaluate the influences of ferrite structure, six cases of magnetic power pads are proposed. Self-inductance, coupling coefficient, quality factor, and coil to coil efficiency are compared as the displacement increases in the direction of x or y axis. For accurate estimation, finite element method (FEM) simulation is used and loss components of the power pads are numerically calculated and considered. Through the simulation and measured results, effectiveness of protrusive and enveloping ferrite structure is identified.
The exicting short circuit analysis calculate the current with the balance system and unbalance fault impedance. That method deal with only bus fault with the consequence that line fault study is irrational. This paper propose the line fault, shunt unbalance and series unbalance analysis method using template concept that is one of advantages for OOP(Object-Oriented Programming). This method is possible to use for calculating inductive distrubance.
We investigated the structure of inductive coupler and its magnetic coupling to increase the transmission coefficient for power line communication. A Rogowski coil, which is an air-cored inductive coupler, and a magnetic cored coupler were fabricated to analyze the transmission coefficient for different coupler parameters. This paper proposes the impedance matching method using lumped elements and an impedance transformer to increase the transmission coefficient. In the experiment, the transmission coefficient of the proposed system was increased in both narrowband and broadband cases, and a trade-off between the transmission coefficient and the bandwidth was shown. This method will be useful for the further study of impedance matching with the load variation.

In this study, we developed a feasible structure of a textile-based inductive sensor using a machine embroidery method, and applied it to a non-contact type vital sign sensing device based on the principle of magnetic-induced conductivity. The mechanical heart activity signals acquired through the inductive sensor embroidered with conductive textile on fabric were compared with the Lead II ECG signals and with respiration signals, which were simultaneously measured in every case with five subjects. The analysis result showed that the locations of the R-peak in the ECG signal were highly associated with sharp peaks in the signals obtained through the textile-based inductive sensor (r=0.9681). Based on the results, we determined the feasibility of the developed textile-based inductive sensor as a measurement device for the heart rate and respiration characteristics.

Inductive sensors are versatile and economical devices that are widely used to measure a wide variety of physical variables, such as displacement, force, and pressure. In this paper, we propose a simple inductive sensor consisting of a thin partial ring and a coil set. The self-inductance of the sensor was estimated using magnetic circuit analysis and validated through finite element analysis (FEA). The natural frequency of the ring was estimated using Castigliano's theorem and the method of equivalent mass. The estimation was validated through experiments and FEA. A prototype sensor with a signal processing circuit is built and applied to noninvasively sense the pressure inside a flexible tube. The obtained sensor outputs show quadratic behavior with respect to the pressure. When fitted to a quadratic equation, the least-square measurement error was less than 2%. The results confirm the feasibility of pressure sensing using the proposed inductive sensor.

Inductive power transfer (IPT) is an attractive power transmission solution that is already used in many applications. In the IPT system, optimal coil design is essential to achieve high power efficiency, but the effective design method is yet to be investigated. The inductance formula and finite element method (FEM) are popular means to link the coil geometric parameters and circuit parameters; however, the former lacks generality and accuracy, and the latter consumes much computation time. This study proposes a novel coil design method to achieve speed and generality without much loss of accuracy. By introducing one-turn permeance simulation in each FEM phase combined with curve fitting and optimization by MATLAB in the efficiency calculation phase, the iteration number of FEM can be considerably reduced, and the generality can be retained. The proposed method is verified through a 100 W IPT system experiment.
