Accessibility is a field of study that has primarily been applied to urban or transportation problems two dimensionally. However, in large complex buildings as shopping centers or hospitals, inter-spatial accessibility among compartments has to be taken into account such as in building layouts or evacuation planning. This study expands space syntax theory, one of accessibility-related methodologies used for computing connectivity in urban or architectural spaces, into 3D indoor spaces. Although space syntax is basically a topology-based theory that does not consider general costs such as distance or time, this study suggests modification that incorporates different types of impedances in moving between places including distances, turns and transfers between floors. The proposed method is applied to a 3D campus building model in computing and displaying the accessibility to exit doors or cohesive accessibility among similar functions.
A form of consumption has been changed to a form of pursuing rather qualitative sides than quantitative sides according to an improvement of the living level followed by an increase in national income and to an increase in women's advance to society in modern society. The above change had a lot of effects on children play space, a subsidiary means within commercial facilities. However, partial children play facilities have steady children injury cases by a lack of safety management facilities. Therefore, the study investigated indoor children play facilities installed in large-scale distribution stores as department stores and discount stores out of commercial facilities in Seoul. The study investigated actual conditions and collected picture data with a checklist drawn up on the basis of the safety management standard for three months from April, 2008 to June, 2008 by visiting five places under cooperation. The purpose of the study was to grasp actual conditions of safety management of play space within commercial facilities through the contents and picture data of the investigated checklist and to offer basic data in the side of safety management of commercial facilities and various indoor children play spaces by proposing security measures for the problems.
In this paper, we propose a 3D LiDAR sensor-based costmap generation and path planning algorithm using it for reliable autonomous flight in complex indoor environments. 3D path planning is essential for reliable operation of UAVs. However, existing grid search-based or random sampling-based path planning algorithms in 3D space require a large amount of computation, and UAVs with weight constraints require reliable path planning results in real time. To solve this problem, we propose a method that divides a 3D space into several 2D spaces and a path planning algorithm that considers the distance to obstacles within each space. Among the paths generated in each space, the final path (Best path) that the UAV will follow is determined through the proposed objective function, and for this purpose, we consider the rotation angle of the 2D space, the path length, and the previous best path information. The proposed methods have been verified through autonomous flight of UAVs in real environments, and shows reliable obstacle avoidance performance in various complex environments.
The aims of this study were to grasp the real condition state and clarify the characteristics and influence of pollutants on the indoor air pollution in occupied apartment units. The research method was to measure the pollution levels of indoor air pollution, and investigate characteristics of the pollutants such as the outdoor environment, elapsed time after construction, finished materials, temperature, relative humidity, space extension, purchase with furniture and electric appliances, built-in closets, and method for cleaning the air. And these were made a comparition between industrial and residential area. The VOCs and formaldehyde concentration in indoor air were measured the 6 household in residental area and 5 household in industrial area. In conclusion, the concentration such as benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylene, styrene showed the pollution state within permissible levels, however formaldehyde concentration has need a lot of attention as ever. And it turned out that the influence with reference to emission from building materials on indoor air pollution lessened under 18 months elapsed time after construction.
This is a basic study to improve air quality of school classrooms in winter time. The purposes are to check indoor thermal and air environment in school classrooms during winter and to analyze influencing factors on indoor environment. The measurements of students' physical elements with questionnaire surveys were carried out in a total of 6 classrooms. As a result, this research shows that the temperature of one classroom was below indoor thermal standard level, three classrooms had lack of heat, and two classrooms are heated much, which induce relatively low humidity. All of 6 classrooms had lack of ventilation, being high level of $CO_2$ concentration and 2 classrooms are in condition of high PM10 concentration. The majority of students(76%) answered that the cause of their 'heated space syndrome' is because of the lack of ventilation. Students' opening windows for ventilations is hardly carried out at normal times, except that indoor temperature is over standard. That is, we can suggest one of solutions, which is to enable students to operate heating and ventilating system by themselves according to students' physical condition.

This survey is to investigate the effect of plants and waterscape facilities on the thermal indoor environment and to provide basic data for proper plant cultivation to enhance indoor landscape. The survey of the measure of comfort on the indoor environment for the residents of Taegu shows that the measure of comfort on the thermal-environment, which consist of temperature and humidity, has more negative responses than the measure on lighting . are . sound environment, which consists of air freshness, lighting condition and sound environment. The experiments on the effect of the amount of leaves and the distance of plants on the indoor thermal-environment are made. The experimental results illustrate that, as the capacity of a plant becomes greater and the distance from the plant shorter, the falling effect of temperature and the rising effect of humidity on the top of the plant are taken higher than on the side of the plant. When the same amount of leaves is set up, the distance range of the rising effect of humidity becomes wider than that of the falling effect of temperature. The investigation of the effect of waterscape facilities on the indoor thermal-environment shows that temperature and humidity of the space with installed waterscape facilities are lower and higher than without facilities, respectively.
We propose a camera system to acquire indoor stereo omni-directional images and its calibration method. These images can be utilized for indoor precise mapping and sophisticated imagebased services. The proposed system is configured with a rotating stereo line camera system, providing stereo omni-directional images appropriate to stable stereoscopy and precise derivation of object point coordinates. Based on the projection model, we derive a mathematical model for the system calibration. After performing the system calibration, we can estimate object points with an accuracy of less than ${\pm}16cm$ in indoor space. The proposed system and calibration method will be applied to indoor precise 3D modeling.
Due to the unavailability of global positioning system (GPS) indoors, various indoor pedestrian positioning methods have been designed to estimate the position of the user using received signal strength (RSS) measurements from radio beacons, such as wireless fidelity (WiFi) access points and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons. In indoor environments, radio-frequency (RF) signals are unpredictable and change over space and time because of multipath associated with reflection and refraction, shadow fading caused by obstacles, and interference among different devices using the same frequencies. Therefore, the outliers in the positional information obtained from the indoor positioning method based on RSS measurements occur often. For this reason, the performance of the positioning method can be degraded by the characteristics of the RF signal. To resolve this issue, a map-matching (MM) algorithm based on maximum probability (MP) estimation is applied to the indoor positioning method in this study. The MM algorithm locates the aberrant position of the user estimated by the positioning method within the limits of the adjacent pedestrian passages. Empirical experiments show that the positioning method can achieve higher positioning accuracy by leveraging the MM algorithm.

The research on the actual condition of indoor asbestos concentration in Korea has not been thoroughly accomplished up to now. In this research the ratio of asbestos-containing buildings and indoor asbestos concentration was studied. This investigation was conducted in 2012 and 2013 and buildings were categorized based on region, building type by use, existing space(ground or basement), and construction year, respectively. Also the indoor asbestos concentration change was monitored to evaluation the efficiencies of two types of asbestos-concentration abatement devices. As a result, the ratio of asbestos-containing buildings in Seoul was largely decreased. The ratio of asbestos-containing buildings was higher in hospitals and schools regionally and in ground buildings than in basement. The average indoor asbestos concentrations were 0.0011, 0.0008 piece/cc in 2012 and 2013 investigation, respectively. Those values were much lower than standards(0.01 piece/cc), therefore the threat of indoor asbestos concentration might be negligible. In asbestos-concentration abatement experiments, the circulation velocity of ventilator were changed 2-6.7 m/sec. With 6.7 m/sec of velocity of ventilator, the concentration of indoor asbestos was fluctuated and maximum value was 2.4 piece/cc. With 4.5 and 2 m/sec of velocities of ventilator, the maximum concentration of indoor asbestos was fluctuated and maximum value was 0.9 piece/cc. This indicated that the concentration of indoor asbestos was decreased partly due to the free drop of asbestos. From these results, the proper velocity of ventilator seems to be between 4.7 and 6.5m/sec under this circumstance and further research is required. These research results may be used to guideline of asbestos management policy.
To promote environmentally responsible architectural practice, many nations have established their own green building rating system. Among other criteria, recently the indoor environmental quality section has been paid great attention due to Sick Building Syndrome, as this believed to caused by polluted indoor environment. In this context, indoor environmental quality is one of very important sections of each green building rating system and closely related to the very happiness of building users. The goal of this research is to compare and analyze the indoor environmental sections of three green building rating systems, GBCC, LEED v2.1, and BREEAM Office 2005, and find a direction for the improvement of GBCC. First, the three rating systems are analyzed in general to compare the importance of indoor environmental factors in each system. Second, the indoor environmental factors are reclassified within related sub-categories for the comparable analysis. Finally, based upon the comparable analysis, directions for the improvement of GBCC are as follows: 1. GBCC's h4r Environment Section needs to clarify its VOCs criteria based upon types of finish materials. 2. Sound Environment Section's noise control criteria needs to be revised based upon types of building usages and application method. 3. An indoor lighting related section needs to be included in GBCC, as even though light is the one of the most important factors in indoor environment, it has not been included in GBCC yet. 4. The sub-section of Confortable Indoor Environment Section related to the resting space and the universal accessibility are not in accord with the goal of green building rating system. These items need to be dealt within general building codes. 5. The rating evaluation structure and process need to be streamlined.
