Single-view reconstruction (SVR) is a fundamental method in computer vision. Often used for reconstructing human-made environments, the Manhattan world assumption presumes that planes in the real world exist in mutually orthogonal directions. Accordingly, this paper addresses an automatic SVR algorithm for Manhattan worlds. A method for estimating the directions of planes using graph-cut optimization is proposed. After segmenting an image from extracted line segments, the data cost function and smoothness cost function for graph-cut optimization are defined by considering the directions of the line segments and neighborhood segments. Furthermore, segments with the same depths are grouped during a depth-estimation step using a minimum spanning tree algorithm with the proposed weights. Experimental results demonstrate that, unlike previous methods, the proposed method can identify complex Manhattan structures of indoor and outdoor scenes and provide the exact boundaries and intersections of planes.

This paper proposes a method of estimating location of a target point at which an interactive robot gazes in an indoor space. RGB images are extracted from low-cost web-cams, user head pose is obtained from the face detection (Openface) module, and geometric configurations are applied to estimate the user's gaze direction in the 3D space. The coordinates of the target point at which the user stares are finally measured through the correlation between the estimated gaze direction and the plane on the table plane.

In this paper, a minimum rotation radius was designed and fabricated to overcome the threshold so that elderly or disabled people who have difficulty moving can move and transfer safely and conveniently in a narrow room. In the indoor environment, where the sedentary culture develops, this study aimed to provide convenience for passengers with fracture diseases, geriatric diseases, and other knee and waist diseases. First, links, seats, armrests, covers, motors, batteries, chargers, controllers, etc. were attached to the frame so that they could be moved and lifted indoors. The product design and structure were designed considering the user's environment and physical characteristics, and IoT functions were added. A driving experiment was performed to confirm the operating performance of the manufactured indoor moving and lifting wheelchair. The performance tests, such as continuous running time, turning radius, maximum actuator load, maximum lift height, sound pressure level, minimum sensing distance of the driving aid sensor, interworking of server and app programs, device compatibility, and duty cycle error rate, were performed. As a result of the test, the built-in wheelchair could achieve the performance test target of each item and operate successfully.

'Movement' is an expanded concept of 'place' where people act, interact with one another and achieve a specific purpose at every moment. Wheelchairs, as a mobility aid, have a profound impact on improving the quality of physical and psychological well-being for the mobility disadvantaged groups who have mobility difficulties. Such mobility aids were developed mainly for outdoor activities, but in recent years, mobility aids for indoor spaces, the main living environment, are also being developed. Because indoor mobility aids generally move short distances repeatedly, this study examined the characteristics of lithium-ion batteries in short-distance driving of battery-powered wheelchairs and compared them with the characteristics of lithium-ion batteries in continuous driving. The result showed that the driving time for short-distance driving was 2.8% shorter than that of continuous driving. The current supplied to the motor was 15.4% higher for short-distance driving than that of continuous driving.

In large scale environments like airport, museum, large warehouse and department store, autonomous mobile robots will play an important role in security and surveillance tasks. Robotic security guards will give the surveyed information of large scale environments and communicate with human operator with that kind of data such as if there is an object or not and a window is open. Both for visualization of information and as human machine interface for remote control, a 3D model can give much more useful information than the typical 2D maps used in many robotic applications today. It is easier to understandable and makes user feel like being in a location of robot so that user could interact with robot more naturally in a remote circumstance and see structures such as windows and doors that cannot be seen in a 2D model. In this paper we present our simple and easy to use method to obtain a 3D textured model. For expression of reality, we need to integrate the 3D models and real scenes. Most of other cases of 3D modeling method consist of two data acquisition devices. One for getting a 3D model and another for obtaining realistic textures. In this case, the former device would be 2D laser range-finder and the latter device would be common camera. Our algorithm consists of building a measurement-based 2D metric map which is acquired by laser range-finder, texture acquisition/stitching and texture-mapping to corresponding 3D model. The algorithm is implemented with laser sensor for obtaining 2D/3D metric map and two cameras for gathering texture. Our geometric 3D model consists of planes that model the floor and walls. The geometry of the planes is extracted from the 2D metric map data. Textures for the floor and walls are generated from the images captured by two 1394 cameras which have wide Field of View angle. Image stitching and image cutting process is used to generate textured images for corresponding with a 3D model. The algorithm is applied to 2 cases which are corridor and space that has the four wall like room of building. The generated 3D map model of indoor environment is shown with VRML format and can be viewed in a web browser with a VRML plug-in. The proposed algorithm can be applied to 3D model-based remote surveillance system through WWW.
In this paper, the human detecting radar system for indoor security applications is proposed, and its FPGA-based implementation results are presented. In order to minimize the complexity and memory requirements of the computation, the top half of the spectrogram was used to extract features, excluding the feature extraction techniques that require complex computation, feature extraction techniques were proposed considering classification performance and complexity. In addition, memory requirements were minimized by designing a pipeline structure without storing the entire spectrogram. Experiments on human, dog and robot cleaners were conducted for classification, and 96.2% accuracy performance was confirmed. The proposed system was implemented using Verilog-HDL, and we confirmed that a low-area design using 1140 logics and 6.5 Kb of memory was possible.
Location positioning systems are available in applications such as mobile, robotic tracking systems and Wireless location-based service (LBS) applications. The GPS system is the most well-known location tracking system, but it is not easy to use indoors. The method of radio frequency identification (RFID) location tracking was studied in terms of cost-effectiveness for indoor location tracking systems. Most RFID systems use active RFID tags using expendable batteries, but in this paper, an inexpensive indoor location tracking system using passive RFID tags has been developed. A pattern matching method and a system for tracing location by generating regression curves were studied to use precision tracking algorithms. The system was tested by verifying the level of error caused by noise. The three-dimensional curves are produced by the regression equation estimated the statistically meaningful coordinates by the differential equation. The proposed system could also be applied to mobile robot systems, AGVs and mobile phone LBSs.

In this paper, With the development of modern science and technology are Sheds to stay indoors rather than outdoors space it increased significantly compared to the past. And a wide variety of research about outdoor air quality until recently, efforts are underway but the issue of air quality in the room is the fact that all considered relatively lightly. As the contamination of the room air is polluted, unlike the natural environment, a large outdoor air dilution rate, the dilution rate is very low, once the contaminated air continuously circulating exerts a very bad influence on the health of people staying in the room. In this study, movement characteristics of the person living in a room, the air measuring device for the study of the active indoor environmental control system reflects the life form to measure the quality of the measured air in real time for transmitting the information to the user of the smart devices, alarm bot It was implemented and operational applications.

This paper presents vision-based techniques for underwater landmark detection, map-based localization, and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) in structured underwater environments. A variety of underwater tasks require an underwater robot to be able to successfully perform autonomous navigation, but the available sensors for accurate localization are limited. A vision sensor among the available sensors is very useful for performing short range tasks, in spite of harsh underwater conditions including low visibility, noise, and large areas of featureless topography. To overcome these problems and to a utilize vision sensor for underwater localization, we propose a novel vision-based object detection technique to be applied to MCL (Monte Carlo Localization) and EKF (Extended Kalman Filter)-based SLAM algorithms. In the image processing step, a weighted correlation coefficient-based template matching and color-based image segmentation method are proposed to improve the conventional approach. In the localization step, in order to apply the landmark detection results to MCL and EKF-SLAM, dead-reckoning information and landmark detection results are used for prediction and update phases, respectively. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated by experiments with an underwater robot platform in an indoor water tank and the results are discussed.

This paper is presented an accurate localization scheme for mobile robots based on the fusion of ultrasonic satellite (U-SAT) with inertial navigation system (INS), i.e., sensor fusion. Our aim is to achieve enough accuracy less than 100 mm. The INS consist of a yaw gyro, two wheel-encoders. And the U-SAT consist of four transmitters, a receiver. Besides the localization method in this paper fuse these in an extended Kalman filter. The performance of the localization is verified by simulation and two actual data(straight, curve) gathered from about 0.5 m/s of driving actual driving data. localization methods used are general sensor fusion and sensor fusion through Kalman filter using data from INS. Through the simulation and actual data studies, the experiment show the effectiveness of the proposed method for autonomous mobile robots.
