The Color Enhancement of TV Picture by the Color Measurement of Illumination (광원의 색채 계측에 의한 TV 화상의 색 향상)

  • An object color can be seen differently under the various outer illuminants. However, human visual system has color constnacy that the object color can be seen constantly under the different outer illuminants. When the viewer watches TV under specific that the object color can be seen constantly under the different outer illuminants. When the viewer bathes TV under specific outer illuminants, he perceives distortes color due to the emitting specturm of outer illuminants as well as the radiation of CPT itself. Namely, when the outer illuminants such as fluorescent and incandescent lamps incident on CPT, brightness, saturation, hue, itself. Namely, when the outer iluminants such as fluorescent and incandescent lamps incident on CPT, brightness, saturation, hue, and contrast on color pictures are changend, he perceives distortedcolr fromthe original color. In this paper color enhancement algorithm based on light intensity and outer light decision funtion using RGB sensor was proposed. The implemented TV of proposed algorithm has higher visual quality at the view point of human visual system and more vivid than that ofcoventional color TV.

  • We studied visual clarity according to the difference of color temperature and color rendering by using black and white printed paper and four sheets of colored paper under different kinds of lamps and same kind lamps. The results show visual clarity is proportioned to average color rendering index approximately except incandescent lamps and to color temperature under incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, high pressure sodium lamps, metal halide lamps and electrode less discharge lamps.

Detection of Surface Defects in Eggs Using Computer Vision (컴퓨터 시각을 이용한 계란 표면의 결함 검출)

  • A computer vision system was built to generate images of a stationary egg. This system includes a. CCD camera, a frame grabber, and an incandescent back lighting system An image processing algorithm was developed to accurately detect surface holes and surface cracks on eggs. With 20W of incandescent back light, the detection rate was shown to be the highest. The Sobel operator was found to be the best among various enhancing filters examined. The threshold value to distinguish between the crack and the translucent spots was found to be linear with the average gray level of a whole egg image. Those values of both gray level and area were used as criteria to detect holes in egg and those values of both area and roundness were used to detect cracks in egg. For a sample of 300 eggs, this system was able to correctly analyze an egg for the presence of a defect 97.5% of the time. On the average, it took 59.5 seconds to analyze an egg image and determine whether or not it was defected.

  • Because of energy efficiency and environment-friendly characteristics, demands of white LED are being increased in various fields. White LED is being observed as next-generation light sources to alternate incandescent and fluorescent lamps so that the studies on white LED are being processed continuously. This study investigates technical developments and market movements of white LED to evaluate technical characteristics and to analyze performances data by comparing prototypes of white LEDs. And comparing efficiency of white LED with that of incandescent and fluorescent lamps, this study aimed at presentation of compatible standards for future LEDs.

  • 수은이 함유된 방전등과 같은 조명기구의 사용이 제한되는 특수구역의 산업용 조명설비로 200 W 이상의 높은 소비전력의 백열등기구들이 사용되고 있다. 인공광원으로 백열전구는 매우 낮은 발광효율로 전력소모가 많고, 높은 방사열로 인해 화재의 염려가 있어 램프보호유리구를 장착하므로 낮은 조명률로 광 손실이 높게 발생한다. 또한 산업지역 내에서는 일반적으로 각종 전동기 및 공기조화 설비의 가동으로 진동이 심하며 여기에 백열전구 사용 시 당초 예상되는 수명보다 더욱 단축되고 있다. 이러한 지역에 설치된 백열등을 조명등기구 효율(Luminaire Efficacy)이 높은 친환경 에너지 절감형 차세대 광원인 LED조명등으로 대체하여 산업설비 지역 내 공급되는 조명용 소비전력을 크게 줄여 에너지 절약효과를 높임과 동시에 양호한 조명율의 LED광원을 사용함으로써 조명환경 개선에 따른 작업능률을 높이기 위해 특수지역의 산업용 LED조명등을 개발하였다.

  • The Energy Efficiency Standards and Labelling Act, as amended by the Rational Energy Utilization Act, provides energy efficiency standards and labellings for six equipment categories(viz, refrigerators, air-conditioners, fluorescent lamps and ballasts, incandescent lamps, cars) authorizes the Ministry of Trade. Industry and Energy (MOTIE) to prescribe amended or new energy efficiency standards and labelling standards. This study was initiated by the KIER(Korea Institute of Energy Research) in 1992. KIER's assessment of the appliance energy efficiency standards is designed to evaluate their statistical and engineering analysis according to Korean Industrial Standards(KS). And to make didtinction between the poor efficiency and good efficiency models. 5 grades are classified depending on their tested energy efficiency. This year, based on our analysis, MOTIE mandated updated standards for refrigerators, air-conditioners, Incandescent lamps, and fluorescent lamps.

  • A high light lantern system using LEDs is composed of power supply, flash controller, and daylight controller and proper case considering work condition. The performance of developed LED lantern is better than that of the existing marine lantern using an incandescent electric lamp and that of foreign products(Vega LED lantern made in New Zealand, Tideland system made in America). The electric consumption of our products is 30% compared with that of existing marine lantern using an incandescent electric lamp, and the luminous Intensity of them is 200% to 400% compared with that of existing marine lantern and foreign LED lantern. In addition, our LED lantern system is easy to repairing something wrong and changing the LED module and other controllers on the sea when they are in accident.

  • It is well known that the starting characteristics of the cold cathode type discharge tube have photoelectric effects by the incident light from outside. After making the cold cathode type discharge tubes to be avaiable for popularizing, the present paper was devoted primaliry to a study of relations between the starting characterstics and photoelectric effects of discharge tube under the oight circumstances of day light, incandescent lamp, flouresent lamp, and mercury lamp we used frequently. The result of this investigation show that the photoelectric effects by flourescent lamp emitting short wave length having close ralation to the photoelectric effects is greater than incandescent lamp or day light, and also mercury lamp emitting shorter wave length than flourescent lamp indicates the greatest photoelectric effects.
