  • In this paper, Residential roof top photovoltaic system with 9.9 kW design is proposed. The system composed of 200 Watts solar array 33 panels connecting in series 10 strings and parallels 3 strings which have maximum voltage and current are 350 V and 23.8 A. The 10 kW sinusoidal grid-connected inverter with window voltage about 270-350 is selected to convert and transfer DC Power to AC Power at PCC (Point of Common Coupling) of power system following to utility standard. However the impact of fluctuation and uncertainty of weather condition of PV may decrease the voltage stability and voltage collapse of power system. In order to solve this problem the energy storage such 120 V 1200 Ah battery bank and 30 kVAR capacitor are designed for voltage stability control. The other expensed for installing the system such battery charger, cable, accessories and maintenance cost are concerned. The economic analysis by using investment from money loan with interest about 7% and use own money which loss income of deposit about 3% are calculated as 671,844 and 547,044 for PV system with energy storage and non energy storage respectively. The solar energy from PV is about 101,616 Bath per year which evaluated by using the value of $5kWh/m^2/day$ from average peak sun hour (PSH) of the Thailand and 6.96 Bath/kWh of Feed in Tariff Incentive. The payback periods of four scenarios are proposed follow as i) PV system with energy storage and use loan money is 15 years ii) PV system with no energy storage and use loan money is 10 years iii) PV system with energy storage and use deposit money is 9 years iv) PV system with energy storage and use deposit money is 7 years. In addition, the other scenarios of economic analysis such no FIT support and other type of economic analysis such NPV and IRR are proposed in this paper.

  • Performance requirements for automatic transmission fluids have been changed reflecting the design changes of automatic transmissions. The major purpose of these design changes is concentrated upon improvements of both fuel economy and drivability. In order to formulate such high performance ATFs as satisfy those requirements, it is necessary to use high quality base oils like VHVI base oils and PAOs. In this study, the effect of base oils characteristics on ATF performance is investigated, mainly regarding differences in frictional characteristics with deterioration. Frictional characteristics are determined using the SAE No. 2 machine and ATFs are deteriorated under various controlled conditions. Moreover low-temperature fluidity, oxidation stability, and seal compatibility are also compared for four different ATFs. From the investigation, it was found that the use of Group III and IV base oils in ATFs gives several benefits with respect to low temperature viscosity, oxidation stability and SAE No.2 friction characteristics.

  • We consider a functional difference equation and use fixed point theory to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of its zero solution. At the end of the paper we apply our results to nonlinear Volterra infinite delay difference equations.

  • Roll and pitching motions of a vessel can seriously degrade the performance of mechanical systems and the effectiveness of personnel. Many studies on roll stabilization and trimming control system design have focused on stabilizing the vessel through the use of fins, tanks, rudders and flaps. However the ultimate objective of such approaches must be to improve boarding sensitivity. This paper presents an anti-seasickness bed that consists of a rotator and bearing system that does not make use of electric power. The advantages of this system are its simple construction, usefulness, and safe operation. In this study, the rotation angles of the upper plate of a bed according to change weight of the rotator have been calculated to determine the stability. As a result, it can be concluded that proposed stabilizing bed can be of practical use in the field.

  • Use of photovoltaic (PV) power generation system will become more widespread in the future due to anticipated cost reduction in PV technology. As the capacity of PV systems increases, a variation of power system frequency may prevent the stable output of PV system. However, the standard for the frequency protection of distributed generation in Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)'s rule does not include the setting of frequency protection. Therefore, this paper analyzes the correlation between the frequency protection requirements and the stability of grid-connected PV system for the adjustable operating setting of frequency protection. The distribution system interconnected with 3 MW PV system is modeled by Matlab/Simulink. The various values of frequency are simulated. For studied cases, the stability of PV system is analyzed. It is concluded that the setting of frequency protection is necessary to consider the stability of PV system.

  • Currently, most logistics use containers. The construction of new port and high speed medium size container ship for the transportation of merchandise have become very important. The problem of ship stability is also important because of its direct influence on the loss of human life, ships, and merchandise. The stability of a container ship during its operation is not a large problem because it is well considered in the design process. However, the assessment of ship stability during container loading/unloading in port still depends on the expertise of experienced personnel. In this paper, a model based simulation system is introduced, which is able to assess ship stability during container loading/unloading, using ENVISION, a general purpose simulation system.

  • The slope stability of waste landfill has been a problem in domestic and foreign countries. Waste landfills are being constructed in a reclaimed land or mountainous area. But most of these places are consisted of steep slope and hence it is necessary to use the geosynthetic liners in there. The large size direct shear test(30cm x 30cm) equipment was used to determine the interface friction angles between CCLs and soil & geomembranes. The centrifuge model tests were performed to investigate the slope stability with considering various geosynthetic liners conditions and degree of slope. The results of centrifuge model test indicate that the degree of saturation of GCL, roughness of geomembrane, and slope of landfill have greatly influenced on the slope stability of solid waste landfill.

  • Because of the robust nonlinear characteristics appearing in today's modern power system, a strong interaction exists between the angle stability and the voltage stability, which were conventionally studied insularly. However, as the power system is a complex unified system, angle instability always happens in conjunction with voltage instability. The authors propose a novel method to analyze this type of stability problem. In the proposed method, the theory of normal forms of vector fields is utilized to treat the auxiliary dynamic system. By use of this method, the interaction between response modes caused by the nonlinearity of the power system can be analyzed. Consequently, the eigenvalue analysis method is extended to cope with performance analysis of the power system with heavy nonlinearity. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is verified on a 3-bus power system.

  • A higher level of engineering standard in the field of construction, is the use of prestressing in building structures. The concept of prestressing steel structures has only recently been widely considered, despite a long and successful history of prestressing concrete members. Several analytical studies of prestressed steel girders were reported in literatures, but much of the work was not studied with reference to the optimal design and behaviour of the prestressed steel plate girder. A plate girder prestressed eccentrically, will behave as a beam-column, which is subjected to axial compression and bending moment which will cause the beam to buckle out. The study of buckling of the prestressed steel plate girder is necessary for stability criteria. This paper deals with the stability of prestressed steel plate girder using concept of "Vlasov's Circle of Stability" under eccentric prestressing force.
