광대역 하이브리드 직교 폴라 송신 플랫폼 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Implementation of Wideband Hybrid Quadrature Polar Transmitter Platform)

  • 본 논문에서는 소출력 우선 통신 기기(SRD : Short Range Device)에 적용 기능한 광대역 하이브리드 직교 폴라 송신(Wideband Hybrid Quadrature Polar transmitter) 구조를 제시하였다. 먼저 시스템 성능 분석을 위한 시뮬레이션 환경을 구축한 후 송신기 성능 파라미터들에 의한 성능 열화 분석을 실시하였다. 주요 성능 열화 요인으로 VVA(Voltage Variable Attenuator)의 슬루율(Slewrate), 크기 및 위상 신호의 시간 지연 그리고 DAC(Digital-to-Analog Converter) 비트수를 고려하였으며, 성능 열화 분석 시뮬레이션을 통해서 송신기 요구 규격을 만족하는 최소 요구 파라미터 값을 확인하였다. 또한 성능 분석 결과를 바탕으로 광대역 하이브리드 직교 폴라 송신기 플랫폼을 구현하였고 3GPP 표준 규격을 참조하여 송신기 성능 측정 및 분석을 실시하였으며 그 결과를 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, a design technique is introduced for designing a 360-degree linear analog phase shifter at 1.8㎓. Using tunable short-circuit terminated comb-line filters as reactive loads, the circuit gives a very small insertion loss(less than 0.1㏈) and an almost linear phase shifter over the filter bandwidth for the full 360-degree range. We were showed large phase variation with small capacitance variation in the quadrature hybrid coupler using tunable shorted terminated combline filters.

DFT 확산 방식의 OFDM 통신 시스템에서 위상잡음과 직교 불균형 보상 (Compensation of Phase Noise and IQ Imbalance in the OFDM Communication System of DFT Spreading Method)

  • DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) 확산 방식의 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 통신 시스템은 PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) 저감에 매우 효과적인 시스템이며, 3GPP LTE($3^{rd}$ Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution)의 상향 링크에 SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access)에 사용된다. SC-FDMA는 일반적으로 OFDM 시스템보다 위상잡음과 직교 불균형으로 인한 ICI(Inter-Carrier Interference)에서 더 성능 열화가 발생하며, 등화기에 심각한 영향을 미친다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 상향 링크에서 신호 전송 시 발생하는 위상잡음과 직교 불균형(IQ Imbalance: In-phase/Quadrature Imbalance), 그리고 전력 증폭기(HPA: High Power Amplifier)의 백-오프 특성에 따른 영향을 분석하고, ICI 성분을 제거할 수 있는 효과적인 등화 알고리듬을 제시한다. 제안된 등화기는 FDE(Frequency Domain Equalizer) 방식을 기반으로 설계하였으며, 기존의 PNS(Phase Noise Suppression) 알고리듬을 FDE에 사용될 수 있도록 수정하고 개선하여 위상 잡음과 직교 불균형으로 인한 ICI를 보상한다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 back-off 5.5 dB 상태에서 위상 잡음 $0.06\;rad^2$, 위상 에러 5도, 진폭 에러 0.005인 경우, 위상 잡음과 직교 불균형을 보상하여 SNR=14 dB 정도에서 $BER=10^{-4}$의 성능을 만족할 수 있다.

수중음향통신에서 Peak Detector를 갖는 시간동기회복에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Timing Recovery using Peak Detector in Underwater Acoustic Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 OQPSK(Offset Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) 변복조를 사용하는 수중음향통신에서 시간동기회복을 위해 기존의 Gardner TED(Timing Error Detector)에 Parabolic Peak Interpolation 을 사용하는 Peak Detector를 첨가하여 위상 수렴속도를 상승시켜 송신 데이터양의 감소를 도모하였다. Parabolic Peak Interpolation을 이용하여 지속적으로 국소 최대 또는 최소의 근사치로 이동한 후 Gardner TED를 적용하기 때문에 시간동기화 안정화를 속도를 빨리함으로써 Preamble 구간의 데이터양을 절반으로 줄일 수 있고 또한 Preamble 구간에서도 위상 수렴을 하지 못하는 임계치에서 제안한 방법을 시뮬레이션한 결과 임계점에서 BER(Bit Error Rate)이 약 23%정도 성능이 개선되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 실제 동해에서 수집한 데이터를 사용하여 기존의 Gardner TED만 사용하는 방법과 성능 비교 결과 송수신기 사이의 거리가 3 km 이었을 때 제안한 방법을 적용한 경우 기존의 방법에 비해 Converge speed가 1.4배 이상 상승하는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, BER측면에서도 약 20%정도 상승하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Biased SNR Estimation using Pilot and Data Symbols in BPSK and QPSK Systems

  • In wireless communications, knowledge of the signal-to-noise ratio is required in diverse communication applications. In this paper, we derive the variance of the maximum likelihood estimator in the data-aided and non-data-aided schemes for determining the optimal shrinkage factor. The shrinkage factor is usually the constant that is multiplied by the unbiased estimate and it increases the bias slightly while considerably decreasing the variance so that the overall mean squared error decreases. The closed-form biased estimators for binary-phase-shift-keying and quadrature phase-shift-keying systems are then obtained. Simulation results show that the mean squared error of the proposed method is lower than that of the maximum likelihood method for low and moderate signal-to-noise ratio conditions.

  • In general, channel information of received DTV signal analyzed based on symbol timing clock with only In-phase information in DTV receiver. This paper presents technical requirements of channel analysis system for DTV reception signal. In order to meet such requirements and measure more accurate magnitude and phase of channel information, compensation method for the quadrature information from measured in-phase data is proposed. The proposed channel analysis system is implemented with a commercial DTV chipset and provides fast data analysis with good connectivity with field test vehicles. Computer simulation and laboratory test results are provided to figure out the performance of the proposed channel analysis system for DTV signal.

  • 본 논문에서는 크기 및 위상 변이 선택사상 기법(amplitude and phase variant SLM)을 제안한다. 이 기법은 직교 진폭 변조(quadrature amplitude modulation; QAM)로 변조된 직교 주파수 분할 다중화(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing; OFDM)신호에서 최대전력 대 평균전력의 비(peak to average power ratio; PAPR)를 감소시킨다. 주파수 영역에서 QAM 심볼들의 위상만을 회전시키는 기존의 SLM과 비교하였을 때에 제안된 기법은 QAM 심볼들로 대응되기 전의 이진 데이터의 특정 위치에 이진 시퀀스를 곱해줌으로써 QAM 심볼에 대응 시에 위상은 물론 크기까지 변화시켜준다. 모의실험 결과는 제안된 기법이 QAM 변조된 OFDM 신호들에 대하여 기존의 SLM 보다 PAPR 감소 성능이 더 좋다는 것을 보여준다.

  • The radar interferogram represents phase differences between the two synthetic aperture radar observations acquired in slightly different angle. The success of the radar interferometric application largely depends on the quality of the interferogram generated from two or more synthetic aperture radar data sets. We propose here to apply the wavenumber correlation analysis to the in-phase and quadrature phase of the radar interferogram. The wavenumber correlation analysis is to resolve the highly correlated components from the low correlation components by estimating correlation coefficients for each wavenumber component. Through this approach, one can easily distinguish the signal components from the noise components in the wavenumber domain. Therefore, the wavenumber correlation analysis of the radar interferogram can be utilized to design post filter and to estimate the quality of interferogram. Current-induced Phase Demodulation Using a PWM Sampling for a Fiber-optic CT

  • In this work, we used PWM sampling for demodulation of a fiber-optic interferometric current transformer. The interference signal from a fiber-optic CT is sampled with PWM triggers that produce a 90-degree phase difference between two consecutively sampled signals. The current-induced phase is extracted by applying an arctangent demodulation and a phase unwrapping algorithm to the sampled signals. From experiments using the proposed demodulation, we obtained phase measurement accuracy and a linearity error, in AC current measurements, of ~2.35 mrad and 0.18%, respectively. The accuracy of the proposed method was compared with that of a lock-in amplifier demodulation, which showed only 0.36% difference. To compare the birefringence effects of different fiber-optic sensor coils, a flint glass fiber and a standard single-mode fiber were used under the same conditions. The flint glass fiber coil with a Faraday rotator mirror showed the best performance. Because of the simple hardware structure and signal processing, the proposed demodulation would be suitable for low-cost over-current monitoring in high voltage power systems.

Vibrational characteristics of sandwich annular plates with damaged core and FG face sheets

  • The main goal of this paper is to study the vibration of damaged core laminated annular plates with FG face sheets based on a three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The structures are made of a damaged isotropic core and two external face sheets. These skins are strengthened at the nanoscale level by randomly oriented Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and are reinforced at the microscale stage by oriented straight fibers. These reinforcing phases are included in a polymer matrix and a three-phase approach based on the Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka scheme and on the Halpin-Tsai approach, which is developed to compute the overall mechanical properties of the composite material. In this study the effect of microcracks on the vibrational characteristic of the sandwich plate is considered. In particular, the structures are made by an isotropic core that undergoes a progressive uniform damage, which is modeled as a decay of the mechanical properties expressed in terms of engineering constants. These defects are uniformly distributed and affect the central layer of the plates independently from the direction, this phenomenon is known as "isotropic damage" and it is fully described by a scalar parameter. Three complicated equations of motion for the sectorial plates under consideration are semi-analytically solved by using 2-D differential quadrature method. Using the 2-D differential quadrature method in the r- and z-directions, allows one to deal with sandwich annular plate with arbitrary thickness distribution of material properties and also to implement the effects of different boundary conditions of the structure efficiently and in an exact manner. The fast rate of convergence and accuracy of the method are investigated through the different solved examples. The sandwich annular plate is assumed to have any arbitrary boundary conditions at the circular edges including simply supported, clamped and, free. Several parametric analyses are carried out to investigate the mechanical behavior of these multi-layered structures depending on the damage features, through-the-thickness distribution, and boundary conditions.
