In this study, through the roadside interview, drivers'feeling about fatigue has been evaluated synthetically and systematically when they drive a vehicle according to their sex, vehicle type, driving career, etc. Also, with the human sensibility evaluation technique, we grasped the human sensibility structure for the fatigue in a vehicle and as an objective evaluation index for comfort and fatigue in a vehicle, we developed a sensibility database. Through the survey and research, extracting and understanding the importance of factors which have influence on the fatigue in driving can be used as basic data that can suggest more comfort and pleasant driving environment to drivers. Also, human sensibility database regarding to the comfort and fatigue in a vehicle can be used as basic data in ergonomic vehicle design, evaluation for seat , comfort seat development, development of vibration reduction method and so on.
This paper presents a high performance sensor less control four motorized wheels for electric vehicle. Firstly, we applied a sensor less master-slave DTC based control to both the two in wheel motors by using sliding mode observer for its quick response and its high reliability in electric vehicle application. Secondly, to overcome the possible loss of adherence of one of the four wheels which is likely to destabilize the vehicle a solution is proposed in this paper. Thirdly, a Fuzzy logic anti-skid control structure well adapted to the non-linear system is used to overcome the main problem of power train system in the wheel road adhesion characteristic. Various Simulation results have been include in this paper to show that the proposed control strategy can prevent vehicle sliding and show good vehicle stability on a curved path.

The aiming ability is a key to improve the accuracy performance of the gun pointing system in the ground military vehicle. This paper describes the new detection method of chatter vibration using disturbance acceleration in the pointing structure. In order to analysis the vibration trends of the pointing system occurred while the vehicle driving, acceleration data obtained from vehicle was processed by using data processing algorithm with moving average and Hilbert transform. The specific mode constants of acceleration were obtained from various disturbances. Vehicle velocity, road condition and property of pointing structure were considered as factors which make the change of vibration trend in vehicle dynamics. Finally, back propagation neural networks have been applied to the pattern recognition of the classification of vibration signal in various driving conditions. Results of signal processing were compared with other condition result and analysed.

This paper presents a lateral control system for the autonomous navigation vehicle that was developed and tested by Robotics Centre of Ecole des Mines do Paris in France. A robust lane detection algorithm was developed for detecting different types of lane marker in the images taken by a CCD camera mounted on the vehicle. $^{RT}Maps$ that is a software framework far developing vision and data fusion applications, especially in a car was used for implementing lane detection and lateral control. The lateral control has been tested on the urban road in Paris and the demonstration has been shown to the public during IEEE Intelligent Vehicle Symposium 2002. Over 100 people experienced the automatic lateral control. The demo vehicle could run at a speed of 130km1h in the straight road and 50km/h in high curvature road stably.
In this paper, we analyze the Non-Holonomic Constraint (NHC) satisfaction of Inertial Navigation System (INS) for vehicular navigation according to Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) location. In INS-based vehicle navigation, NHC information is widely used to improve INS performance. That is, the error of the INS can be compensated under the condition that the velocity in the body coordinate system of the vehicle occurs only in the forward direction. In this case, the condition that the vehicle's wheels do not slip and the vehicle rotates with the center of the IMU must be satisfied. However, the rotation of the vehicle is rotated by the steering wheel which is controlled based on the Ackermann geometry, where the center of rotation of the vehicle exists outside the vehicle. Due to this, a phenomenon occurs that the NHC is not satisfied depending on the mounting position of the IMU. In this paper, we analyze this problem based on Ackermann geometry and prove the analysis result based on simulation.
This paper presents a complete method for vehicle detection and tracking in a fixed setting based on computer vision. Vehicle detection is performed based on Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) feature matching. With SIFT feature detection and matching, the geometrical relations between the two images is estimated. Then, the previous image is aligned with the current image so that moving vehicles can be detected by analyzing the difference image of the two aligned images. Vehicle tracking is also performed based on SIFT feature matching. For the decreasing of time consumption and maintaining higher tracking accuracy, the detected candidate vehicle in the current image is matched with the vehicle sample in the tracking sample set, which contains all of the detected vehicles in previous images. Most remarkably, the management of vehicle entries and exits is realized based on SIFT feature matching with an efficient update mechanism of the tracking sample set. This entire method is proposed for highway traffic environment where there are no non-automotive vehicles or pedestrians, as these would interfere with the results.
This paper presents a vehicle model for analyzing the transient shifting characterisitics of a passenger car with automatic transmission. Then the presented vehicle model was linked with the dynamic model of an automatic transmission. In order to identify the parameters of the vehicle model, we installed a test equipment with an accelerometer in a conventional vehicle and performed road tests. With the proposed vehicle model, we simulated the dynamic characteristics during shifting, and benchmarked with experimental results. Moreover, a modal analysis was carried out to investigate the effect of the vehicle model in the frequency domain and to obtain the transfer function of the vehicle model. In addition, we showed the numerical results in the time domain for analyzing the effect of each stiffness element, such as engine mountings and suspensions.

The durability prediction of emission control components, especially 02 sensor and catalytic converter, is getting more important as emission regulation is getting stricter and vehicle durability mileage requirement is also extended from 80,000 ㎞ to 160,000 km in Korean market. And the duration of vehicle mileage accumulation to get vehicle exhaust emission deterioration factor for certification is required to be shorter in order to reduce the vehicle development time. Since most of the vehicle emission development tests are done on chassis dynamometer and aging bench by using vehicle aging modes, real road condition and in-use driving patterns must be reflected into them to predict the vehicle emission level and to meet emission regulation especially at high mileage. In order to get the frequent driving pattern of vehicle and the aging characteristic of emission components, a vehicle was tested by changing drivers and driving roads around Seoul. Real road driving patterns were analyzed and compared with those of the certification modes which are well known in automotive industry.
Recent, the issue of the fourth industrial revolution triggered by technological advances has changed the automobile industry centered on internal combustion engines, and quantitative growth of the global automobile market, which has grown rapidly, has been slowing since 2015. These advances in technology are expected to develop beyond the advanced driver assistance system to autonomous driving technology. According to SAE-J3016 published by the Society of Automotive Engineers, the technology of autonomous vehicles is divided into a total of six stages according to the driver's intervention and automation level from 0 to 5. Securing safety for autonomous vehicles is important. But, research on safety evaluation theory and autonomous vehicle evaluation method based on real vehicle test is insufficient. In this study, the longitudinal distance theory equation and continuous test scenario were proposed for the test method of autonomous vehicles for fixed targets, and the real vehicle test was conducted. When comparing the theoretical values compared to the measured values, it was determined that it was reliable with a minimum error rate of 0.484% and a maximum error rate of 7.391%. Using the proposed theoretical equation, it is judged that it can be used as a safety evaluation method in an environment where real vehicle test is not possible because it can grasp the trend in the longitudinal direction in the development stage.

Vehicle cloud technology is a fusion technology of vehicle communication technology and cloud computing used in wired and wireless Internet, and has attracted attention as a new IT paradigm. It is expected that it would contribute to resolve the road traffic problem with effective communication by providing computer, sensor, communication, device, and resource. but security is necessary to apply vehicle cloud environment and it have to resolve security threats and various attacks occurred in wired and wireless vehicle environment. Therefore, in this paper, we designed security framework to provide secure communication between vehicle and vehicle, and vehicle and the Road side in the vehicle cloud environment. Safety and security of the vehicle environment was satisfied with the security requirements of the vehicle and cloud-based environment, and increased efficiency than the conventional vehicle network communication protocols.
