Technologies such as television shopping channels and the internet expand consumers' impulse purchasing opportunities. The interest in national differences of consumer behavior was growing and highlighted the importance of understanding the national context of consumer behavior in an increasing globalized marketplace. The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of fashion involvement and hedonic consumption on impulse buying for Korean and American young consumers, and to compare the differences between two groups. A questionnaire was developed from literatures reviewed. Data were obtained from students attending universities in Korea(N=413) and the U.S.(N=290). Using structural equation modeling, the results indicated that the proposed model of this study was appropriate to explain the effects of fashion involvement and hedonic consumption on impulse buying for Korean and American young consumers. The model showed that fashion involvement and hedonic consumption played important roles in triggering impulse buying for two groups. In addition, American consumers were more likely to influence fashion involvement and hedonic consumption on impulse buying than Korean consumers. The results provided some insights into globalized retail marketing theory supporting the national aspects of impulse buying. Future research and managerial implications are addressed.

Consumers nowadays spend more time using computers and are getting used to buying products through the Internet(Park, 2002), and therefore, understanding consumers' impulse buying behavior in an online shopping context is also important for retailers. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between online apparel impulse buying behavior and the two risk dimensions of apparel involvement(i.e., risk importance, risk probability). The data were collected using an online survey with a structured questionnaire. A total of 339 college students were used in the study. The results of MANOVA showed that the impulse buyer group perceived the risk importance and risk probability of apparel involvement significantly lower. Based on the results, the two hypotheses were supported. From the results of the present study, it is concluded that the two risk dimensions of apparel involvement are negatively related to online impulse buying behavior of apparel products. From the results of the present study, it is concluded that the risk dimensions of apparel involvement are closely related to the online apparel impulse buying behavior.

As more famous and luxurious fashion brands enter the online market, the changes in the online market include those in the composition of merchandise, price image, and consumer behavior. Focusing on these changes, this study examines the relation of consumer price attitude and impulse buying behavior towards internet apparel purchases. Data were obtained from 377 males and females in their 20s-40s who purchased apparel from an internet mall. Convenience sampling through the internet was performed. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, and regression analysis using SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, four dimensions of consumer price attitudes towards internet apparel purchases were found that included price-quality/prestige, sale, value for money, and low price orientation. Second, the influence of consumer price attitude on impulse buying is significant. As the price attitude of price-quality/prestige orientation and sale orientation increases, impulse buying orientation is stronger. Third, there are partially significant differences on the sub-dimensions of consumer price attitude and the influence of price attitude on impulse buying by gender and age. This study will be of help to internet companies by providing information in regards to a price attitude-based marketing strategy and an adequate response to customer impulse buying.

This study tested how impulse buying behavior for apparel was related to hedonic consumption and impulse buying tendencies and emotion in the context of shopping. A total of 290 self-administered questionnaires were obtained from college students during scheduled classes. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated for examining the relationships among consumer tendencies of hedonic consumption and impulse buying, positive emotion, and impulse buying behaviors by LISREL 8.53. Findings showed that impulse buying behaviors for apparel could be classified into planned, reminded, and fashion-oriented impulse buying typologies. Hedonic consumption and impulse buying tendencies had significant effects on positive emotion. Positive emotion had a significant effect on planned, reminded, and fashion-oriented impulse buying for apparel. This study suggests that positive emotion plays an important role in determining impulse buying behaviors relevant to hedonic and impulse buying tendencies. Managerial implications for apparel retailers are discussed.

Consumers seek the pleasure, fun and satisfaction in shopping. Retailing environments of apparel products are rapidly changing than ever before. One of there changes are offered apparel products with entertainment service, such as theaters, restaurants and so on. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of entertainment service, shopping orientation and emotion on impulse buying behavior in department stores an shopping malls. A self-administrated questionaire was developed based on the results of previous researches and pre-test. Data were obtained from shoppers(N=684) randomly selected in department stores and shopping malls located in Seoul and Busan. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, cross analysis, and path analysis. The results showed that; impulse buying behavior was directly or indirectly affected by shopping orientation in both of two store types. In department stores, consumers were affected to make a good mood by entertainment service while, in the shopping malls, consumers were influenced directly by entertainment service to be a good mood and to purchase impulsively apparel products. Therefore, the impulse buying behavior was influenced differently by entertainment service in store types. From the retailer's perspective, they give insights into the development of strategies utilized to marketing planning of entertainment service in each store types.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between online apparel impulse buying behavior and product category/price of apparel items. The data were collected using an online survey with a structured questionnaire and a total of 731 responses were retained. Two hypotheses were put forward to test the relationships among the variables. Test of H1 showed that some product categories purchased by the respondents in the impulse purchase group were significantly different from those bought by the non-impulse purchase group. Categories such as shirt/blouse and belt were bought more frequently by the respondents in the impulse purchase group whereas shoes were bought more frequently by those in the non-impulse purchase group. The respondents in the impulse purchase group bought more items that cost less than $25 than those in the non-impulse purchase group. Based on the results, H1 and H2 were supported. From the results of the study, it is concluded that product categories and product price are closely related to the online apparel impulse buying behavior.

The purpose of the research is to examine whether government regulation on Covid 19 pandemic has had a significant impact in economic sectors, particularly on consumer behavior. Thus there are three hypotheses, 1) viral marketing has an effect on online trust during the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, 2) viral marketing has an effect on impulse buying during the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, and 3) Viral marketing has an effect on impulse buying in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era through online trust. To test the hypotheses, questionnaires were distributed to 150 respondents, however, only 110 were selected due to incomplete data. There are 3 variables, namely viral marketing, online trust, and impulse buying, where online trust is also a mediating variable. Once the assumption test is completed, the researcher employs path analysis to test the hypotheses. The results are 1) there is an effect of viral marketing on online trust in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, 2) There is no effect of viral marketing on impulse buying in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, and 3) Viral marketing has an effect on impulse buying in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era through online trust. This means online trust succeed in mediating viral marketing-impulse buying relationship. The findings emphasized that the credibility of online trust enforce consumers in making buying decisions.
