Purpose: The online distribution channel has attracted the attention of retailers by potential impact on consumers' purchase intention. The objectives of this study are to provide an insight into how to encourage consumers' impulse buying behavior on commercial website as well as attempts to reveal factors that influence consumers' impulsive buying behavior in the online shopping environment. Research design, data and methodology: The research framework is based on the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework. The Meta-analysis method carried out the research, gathering data from 37 published studies. Results: The research findings suggest that intrinsic motivations such as perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, and online flow experience play a significant role in boosting consumers' hedonic value when buying and online. In addition, these findings help online retailers use appropriate marketing stimuli such as offering pricing incentives, promotion tactics, and improved communication effectiveness. Also, obtaining a better grasp of how to build a website to improve the consumer experience generally helps consumers feel the urge to buy impulsively and act without hesitation. Conclusions: This research confirms a direct positive relationship between marketing stimuli and hedonic shopping value, which may support an applied theoretical framework for future research and provide managerial implications for retailers in online distribution channels.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of situational involvement on impulse buying of clothing products in cable TV home shopping. Data were obtained from 235 women aged between 20 and 50 living in Seoul metropolitan area who have bought apparel products on impulse through cable TV. The data were analyzed using factor analysis, cluster analysis, MANOVA, and Chi-square analysis. By factor analysis, two factors of situational involvement factors were identified: Emotional Involvement and Cognitive Involvement. Based on situational involvement, consumers were classified into four groups; High Involvement, Low Involvement, Cognitive Involvement, and Emotional Involvement groups. These groups showed different decision making styles. The situational involvement groups were also different in terms of demographic characteristics, purchase behaviors, types of impulse purchase products, and responses to marketing stimuli. The findings of this study provide useful information for retails of Cable TV home shopping. Retailers may need to make useful marketing efforts for each types of situational involvement.
This study examined whether there is difference in consumers' product attitude according to the type of buying behavior values and the type of price discount among their lifestyle. First, the factors of values comprising consumers' buying behavior were derived as frugal buying, impulse buying, quality buying, and principle buying. Cluster analysis showed that the types of buying behavior value included high quality impulse buying, reasonable buying and practical buying. Second, it was found that there were differences in product attitude according to the type of consumers' buying behavior values. Third, interaction effect was found between the type of price discount and consumers' product attitude according to the type of buying behavior values. Fourth, among the factors of value comprising consumers' buying behavior, frugal buying factor has an effect on the product attitude with price discount of 50% and quality buying and impulse buying factors have an effect on the product attitude with bundle price discount (1+1). The above mentioned result of study suggests that when a company establishes a strategy of price discount, it should consider sales promotion strategy taking account of consumers' buying behavior values and type of product price discount.

The purposes of this study were to explore the consumer attitude toward the retail sales, to examine the relationships between the sale attitude and the price-related variables(i.e., price consciousness, sales proneness, and value consciousness), and to examine the effects of the sale attitude and the price-related variables on the perceived price value during the retail sales. Data were collected from 790 undergraduate students using the two types of questionnaires representing the sale and non-sale situations, and 776 responses were analyzed. Factor analysis of the sale attitude extracted five dimensions including price benefit, limited product assortment, impulse buying, low service quality, and disordered store atmosphere. The price benefit and the impulse buying factors were related with all the 3 price-related variables, and all the sale attitude factors were related with the value consciousness. The price benefit and the impulse buying factors positively affected the perceived price value under the sale situation.
Mobile social commerce is one of the fastest growing distribution channels in recent years. Therefore, it is important to understand customer's buying behavior in mobile social commerce in order to continuously grow in the competitive mobile social commerce market. To achieve the purpose of this study is to investigate how impulsive buying behaviors are applied in mobile shopping and how factors affect impulse purchasing in online shopping. In order to verify the hypothesis, we surveyed the customers who have experiences of using mobile social commerce and analyzed 280 valid data by Smart PLS 3.0. As a result, it was confirmed that consumers' innovation and purchasing experience influenced impulse purchase in mobile social commerce, and scarcity messages among information attributes affect impulse buying. Through this study, impulsive buying behavior which is a frequently analyzed variable in an online shopping context will be extended to the mobile shopping context. and it will provide practical implications for customer strategy establishment in mobile social commerce market.
This study is designed to understand purchase motivation for garment depending on demographic factors among college students in Yanbian, China. Questionnaire was used for measurement tools to study the subject of the thesis. The main study was conducted against 450 college students from May 17 to June 5, 2001. The data for the study were analyzed using SAS PC program for frequency distribution, percentage, t -test, and one way ANOVA. The purchase motivation for garment are affected by demographic factors such as gender, average monthly household income, monthly expense for clothing. The result was showed as follows: A meaningful difference showed in 3 areas 'to try a new trend, impulsive buying at the store display, discount advertising' depending on the gender in terms of purchase motivations, and in all the three areas, male students showed a higher ranking. But in other motivation areas, no difference was noticed in terms of gender. In terms of purchase motivation based on monthly income, only one area 'impulse buying from a store display' showed a meaningful difference. Respondents with an average monthly household income above 2,000 yuan showed a higher tendency of 'impulse buying' compared to those with below 500 yuan or those with between 500-2,000yuan. Those with the average monthly household income below 500 yuan showed the lowest ranking in the impulse buying. In other areas of purchase motivation, average monthly household income was not an important element. A meaningful difference showed in 4 areas, 'to try a new trend, impulse buying from a store display, discount advertising', and 'for a change of mood' in the product motivation based on expense on clothing. Respondents with an average monthly expense for clothing above 100 yuan showed a higher ranking in all 4 areas than those with less than 100 yuan. Since most clothing research has still centered around buying behavior, the importance of consumer behavior which exists outside the purchase context has been neglected. This orientation focusing solely on purchase-related processes is deficient as it cannot account for consumer behavior that is recreational or that occurs without a recognized consumption need. In this vein, clothing browsing behavior can be a significant variable that has effects on clothing purchase-related variables. So to speak, browsers do make purchases at times; delayed-action purchases, impulse purchases and browsers may provide other less informed people with product information. In this study, we used definition proposed by Bloch and Richins(1983), which defines non purchase shopping(browsing) as 1,he examination of merchandises of a store for recreational or informational purposes without a current intention to buy. The specific objectives of the study were to identify the dimensions of clothing non -purchase shopping and to determine the causal relationship among clothing involvement, non-purchase shopping, impulse buying, purchase quantity, opinion leadership. The questionnaire method was used and 366 questionnaires were analyzed. Results can be summarized as follows. First, the non-purchase shopping was divided into two dimensions such as recreational non-purchase shopping and informational non-purchase shopping Of the two dimensions, recreational dimension explained the greater part than informational one. Second, it was revealed that clothing involvement was strongly positively related to non-purchase shopping, which influenced considerably on impulse buying, purchase quantity, and opinion leadership. In other words, clothing non-purchase shopping behaivor is very significant concept of clothing product category and has considerable effects on clothing buying though it occurs independently of purchase, so it seems that much more concern will be needed on this concept.
