  • [ $\lceil$ ]The Life of Pigeons$\rfloor$ consists of seven different canvases without a leading image It contains fragments of disassociated ordinary subjects from a capitalistic and consuming society. In this respect, the text itself attains multiple meanings throughout with inner disharmony, disassociation and relationships of differences. The divided seven images look as if they are connected as one and are connected events that are happening at the same time and in similar places. A liberal interpretation of this work is given to viewers when the seven canvases have both relations and gaps at the same time. $\lceil$The Life of Pigeons$\rfloor$ attempts the viewer's disruption through its middle stratum of meaning structure, which is a device for viewers to rearrange and deeply analyze the seven images. As a result, the artist allows the viewers to get lost in self-contradiction. A fundamental formal structure adopting post-modernism and abandoning modernism is what we can detect with detailed analysis of the work. For instance, changing surface style appears by dividing or putting images in obliquely, furthermore it clearly shows that the main subject is divided in form such as the subject's division into seven spaces. There are three major characteristics. First, the form of the images is divided and composed through oblique and overlapped images. Second, the main content of the subject tends to be scattered. Third, the subjects are interpreted in multiple meanings due to their allegory and symbolism. The inquiry of $\lceil$The Life of Pigeons$\rfloor$ proves that it takes a post artistic spirituality as its basis and its subjects are divided by the differences and surrounding relationships.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the typical sites and patterns of peri-implant bone defects on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, as well as to evaluate the detectability of the identified bone defects on panoramic images. Materials and Methods: The study population included 114 patients with a total of 367 implant fixtures. CBCT images were used to assess the presence or absence of bone defects around each implant fixture at the mesial, distal, buccal, and lingual sites. Based on the number of defect sites, the presentations of the peri-implant bone defects were categorized into 3 patterns: 1 site, 2 or 3 sites, and circumferential bone defects. Two observers independently evaluated the presence or absence of bone defects on panoramic images. The bone defect detection rate on these images was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic analysis. Results: Of the 367 implants studied, 167 (45.5%) had at least 1 site with a confirmed bone defect. The most common type of defect was circumferential, affecting 107 of the 167 implants(64.1%). Implants were most frequently placed in the mandibular molar region. The prevalence of bone defects was greatest in the maxillary premolar and mandibular molar regions. The highest kappa value was associated with the mandibular premolar region. Conclusion: The typical bone defect pattern observed was a circumferential defect surrounding the implant. The detection rate was generally higher in the molar region than in the anterior region. However, the capacity to detect partial bone defects using panoramic imaging was determined to be poor.

  • The Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity investigated plains at Meridiani Planum, where laminated sedimentary rocks are present. The Opportunity rover's Athena morphological investigation showed microstructures organized in intertwined filaments of microspherules: a texture we have also found on samples of terrestrial (biogenic) stromatolites and other microbialites. We performed a quantitative image analysis to compare images (n=45) of microbialites with the images (n=30) photographed by the rover (corresponding, approximately, to 25,000/15,000 microstructures). Contours were extracted and morphometric indexes were obtained: geometric and algorithmic complexities, entropy, tortuosity, minimum and maximum diameters. Terrestrial and Martian textures present a multifractal aspect. Mean values and confidence intervals from the Martian images overlapped perfectly with those from the terrestrial samples. The probability of this occurring by chance is $1/2^8$, less than p<0.004. Terrestrial abiogenic pseudostromatolites showed a simple fractal structure and different morphometric values from those of the terrestrial biogenic stromatolite images or Martian images with a less ordered texture (p<0.001). Our work shows the presumptive evidence of microbialites in the Martian outcroppings: i.e., the presence of unicellular life on the ancient Mars.

  • Modern male has displayed an increased desire to express their social influence and image, and the male fashion market has had to provide various styles and images to fill these needs. The current domestic menswear market, however, is unable to satisfy the needs of male consumers who have a need for diversity in a rapidly changing society; more segmented fashion images and styles are needed. The purposes of this study are to classify fashion images and to establish character of the types. This study was done by performing a literature review and a survey. This study proposed 10 categories of fashion style images. Men's fashion style is classified into the classic image, sophisticated image, urban casual image, chic modern image, mods modern image, basic casual image, ethnic image, avant-garde image, active & outdoor image, and street-kitsch image. In the case of the classic images, common in formal setting, men's formal wear is the main focus with the classic suit. The sophisticated image is that of a colorful formal wear seasoned with elegance. Urban casual image is contemporary image, and therefore is meant for city life wear. Chic and modern image conveys an urban image by seeking a simple and chic feel. Mods modern image is retro yet dandy, giving off a sense of youthfulness compared to the other classic images. Ethnic image expresses the exotic quality of folklore as the main representatives of the character casual wear. Avant garde image portrays strong character casual wear with oversized silhouettes or exaggerated details. Active & Outdoor image is leisure life wear conveying active, functional images. Street Kitsch image is men's street casual wear with graphic patterns such as pop art and graffiti. This study's significance lies in its presentation of fashion style data, which can be utilized in the design and marketing of fashion targeted to males.

  • User interface for cancer classification system is a software application with clinician's friendly tools and functions to diagnose cancer from pathology images. Pathology evolved from manual diagnosis to computer-aided diagnosis with the help of Artificial Intelligence tools and algorithms. In this paper, we explained each block of the project life cycle for the implementation of automated breast cancer classification software using AI and machine learning algorithms to classify normal and invasive breast histology images. The system was designed to help the pathologists in an automatic and efficient diagnosis of breast cancer. To design the classification model, Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stained breast histology images were obtained from the ICIAR Breast Cancer challenge. These images are stain normalized to minimize the error that can occur during model training due to pathological stains. The normalized dataset was fed into the ResNet-34 for the classification of normal and invasive breast cancer images. ResNet-34 gave 94% accuracy, 93% F Score, 95% of model Recall, and 91% precision.

  • The colors have a close to our life and there are many color names derived from plants in Japan. This study aimed to analyze relationship people and plants and investigated what the images of colors derived from plants related to the color names. Surveys on color images of abstract and concrete were conducted with adults who lived in the metropolitan area and in urban areas. The subjects were surveyed about images of similar colors derived from plants(3 type of similar two colors; pink, green and yellow) and asked to select a pair of color names(momo or pink, midori or green, yamabuki or lemon) corresponding to the color. The subjects were simultaneously presented with two similar colors and asked to give their perceptions of each color against 13 polar opposite pairs of terms or phrases using a Semantic Differential Scale, and asked to select the number of the 16 items concerned with life such as clothes and food. With the pink colors, many subjects did not feel opposite abstract images between these two similar colors and felt the same concrete images such as 'cosmetics' and 'clothes', and these color names such as momo and pink are confused. With the green colors and the yellow colors, many subjects felt opposite abstract images between these two similar colors such as 'natural - artificial' and 'rural - urban' and different concrete images such as 'plants' and 'plastics', and these two similar colors are distinguished by the color names such as 'midori - green' and 'yamabuki - lemon'. The results revealed that there are two patterns in the relationship colors derived from plants, color images and color names. In the pattern which images of colors derived from plants are connected with artificial things irrelevant to plants, the color names corresponding to the two similar colors are confused. On the other hand, in the pattern which images of colors derived from plants are connected with plants and artificial things, the two similar colors are distinguished by their color names. So demographics influenced the images of color, younger subjects compared with older tend to obviously distinguish images of colors derived from plants, and there are images of color influenced by the environment as a child. In both patterns, images of colors derived from plants are influenced by artificial things and natural colors are limited among many people. These results indicate that there are a few opportunities to see colors of plants which are full of variety. These results suggest that it is necessary to recognize colors derived from plants in relation to plants and to educate regarding the nature of plants, therefore landscape architecture focused on colors of plants is required.

  • This study investigates the characteristics of satellite brightness temperature (TB) and rainfall intensity over the life cycle of convective cells. The convective cells in the three event cases are detected and tracked from the growth stage to the dissipation stage using the half-hourly infrared (IR) images. For each IR images the values of minimum, mean, and variance for the convective cell's TBs and the sizes of convective cells are calculated and also the relationship between TB and rainfall intensity are investigated, which is obtained using the pixel values of satellite TB and the ground rainfall intensity measured by AWS (Automatic Weather Station). At the growth stage of the convective cells, the TB's variance and cloud size consistently increased, whereas TB's minimum and mean consistently decreased. At this stage the empirical relationships between TB and rainfall intensity are statistically significant and their slopes (intercepts) in absolute values are relatively large (small) compared to those at the dissipation stage. At the dissipation stage of the convective cells, the variability of TB distributions shows the opposite trend. The statistical significance of the empirical relationships are relatively weak, but their slopes (intercepts) vary over life cycle. These results indicate that satellite IR images can provide valuable information in identifying the convective cell's maturity stage and in the growth stage, they may be used in providing considerably accurate rainfall estimates.

  • This research examined the applicability of using an ultrasonic test to reconstruct CT images of an ancient wooden building. Most of the columns in the building are severely deteriorated due to termite attacks or the effect of weathering. Ultrasonic CT images of the columns were used to create highly accurate digital reconstructions, despite a lack of the data caused by parts of the building walls being buried. Another semi-NDE technique, a drilling test based on resistography, was applied in order to verify the ultrasonic test results. The discrepancy in detection between two methods is believed to be due to the fundamental differences between two methods. The performance of the ultrasonic test was hindered by poor surface conditions and this technique tended to over-estimate the size of cavities produced by termites or other insects. Nevertheless, the deterioration detected was in many ways congruent with the drilling test results

  • A machine vision system using charge coupled device(CCD) camera for the weed detection in a radish farm was developed. Shape features were analyzed with the binary images obtained from color images of radish and weeds. Aspect, Elongation and PTB were selected as significant variables for discriminant models using the STEPDISC option. The selected variables were used in the DISCRIM procedure to compute a discriminant function for classifying images into one of the two classes. Using discriminant analysis, the successful recognition rate was 92% for radish and 98% for weeds. To recognize radish and weeds more effectively than the discriminant analysis, an artificial neural network(ANN) was used. The developed ANN model distinguished the radish from the weeds with 100%. The performance of ANNs was improved to prevent overfitting and to generalize well using a regularization method. The successful recognition rate in the farms was 93.3% for radish and 93.8% for weeds. As a whole, the machine vision system using CCD camera with the artificial neural network was useful to detect weeds in the radish farms.

  • For the last few years, smart devices have begun to occupy an essential place in the life of children, by allowing them to access a variety of language activities and books. Various studies are being conducted on using smart devices for education. Our study extracts images and texts from kids' book with smart devices and matches the extracted images and texts to create new images that are not represented in these books. The proposed system will enable the use of smart devices as educational media for children. A deep convolutional generative adversarial network (DCGAN) is used for generating a new image. Three steps are involved in training DCGAN. Firstly, images with 11 titles and 1,164 images on ImageNet are learned. Secondly, Tesseract, an optical character recognition engine, is used to extract images and text from kids' book and classify the text using a morpheme analyzer. Thirdly, the classified word class is matched with the latent vector of the image. The learned DCGAN creates an image associated with the text.
