  • This research was designed to compare the subjective evaluation of texture image and preference according to fiber blending ratio of men's suit fabrics. 110 subjects evaluated the texture image and preference of various fabrics. For statistical analysis, factor analysis, MDS, pearson correlation and ANOVA were used. The results were as follows: Sensory image factors of suit fabrics were 'smoothness', 'bulkiness', 'stiffness', 'elasticity', 'moistness' and 'weight sensation'. Sensibility image factors were 'classic', 'practical', 'characteristic' and 'sophisticated'. 'Bulkiness' and 'elasticity' sensory images showed high correlations with sensibility images. Fabrics with high wool blending ratio showed as 'classic' and 'sophisticated', 'bulkiness' and 'elasticity' texture images and fabrics with low wool blending ratio showed texture images of 'characteristic', 'surface character', 'stiffness', 'moistness' and 'weight sensation'. Wool fiber blending ratio affected on the purchase preference and tactile preference. Using regression analysis, it was shown that sensibility images had more of an effect on preference than sensory images. The thickness and pattern type showed positive effects and fiber blending ratio showed negative effects on the preference.

  • In this paper, we propose a new accurate and robust image mosaic technique of the mural underdrawing taken from the infra-red camera, which is based on multiple image registration and adaptive blending technique. The image mosaicing methods which have been developed so far have the following deficits. It is hard to generate a high resolution image when there are regions that do not have features or intensity gradients, and there is a trade-off in overlapping region site in view of registration and blending. We consider these issues as follows. First, in order to mosaic Images with neither noticeable features nor intensity gradients, we use a Projected supplementary pattern and pseudo color image for features in the image Pieces which are registered. Second, we search the overlapping region size with minimum blending error between two adjacent images and then apply blending technique to minimum error overlapping region. Finally, we could find our proposed method is more effective and efficient for image mosaicing than conventional mosaic techniques and also is more adequate for the application of infra-red mural underdrawing mosaicing. Experimental results show the accuracy and robustness of the algorithm.

  • This paper suggests a panorama image stitching system which consists of an image matching algorithm: modified SURF (Speeded Up Robust Feature) and an image blending algorithm: multi-band blending. In this paper, first, Modified SURF is described and SURF is compared with SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform), which also gives the reason why modified SURF is chosen instead of SIFT. Then, multi-band blending is described, Lastly, the structure of a panorama image stitching system is suggested and evaluated by experiments, which includes stitching quality test and time cost experiment. According to the experiments, the proposed system can make the stitching seam invisible and get a perfect panorama for large image data, In addition, it is faster than the sift based stitching system.

  • In this paper, we provide an efficient hybrid video blending scheme to improve the naturalness of composite video in Poisson equation-based composite methods. In image blending process, various blending methods are used depending on the purpose of image composition. The hybrid blending method proposed in this paper has the characteristics that there is no seam in the composite video and the color distortion of the object is reduced by properly utilizing the advantages of Poisson blending and alpha blending. First, after blending the source object by the Poisson blending method, the color difference between the blended object and the original object is compared. If the color difference is equal to or greater than the threshold value, the object of source video is alpha blended and is added together with the Poisson blended object. Simulation results show that the proposed method has not only better naturalness than Poisson blending and alpha blending, but also requires a relatively small amount of computation.

  • This study proposes a method of blending visible and near infrared images to enhance edge details and local contrast. The proposed method consists of radiance map generation and color compensation. The radiance map is produced by a Laplacian pyramid and a soft mixing method based on principal component analysis. The color compensation method uses the ratio between the composed radiance map and the luminance channel of a visible image to preserve the visible image chrominance. The proposed method has better edge details compared to a conventional visible and NIR image blending method.

  • In this paper, we propose a high-quality stitching method of 3D multiple dental CT images. First, a weighted function is generated using the difference of two distance functions that calculate a distance from the nearest edge of an overlapped region to each position. And a blending ratio propagation function for two gradient vectors is parameterized by the difference and magnitude of gradient vectors that is also applied by the weighted function. When the blending ratio is propagated, an improved region growing scheme is proposed to decide the next position and calculate the blending intensity. The proposed method produces a high-quality stitching image. Our method removes the seam artifact caused by the mean intensity difference between images and vignetting effect. And it removes double edges caused by local misalignment. Experimental results showed that the proposed method produced high-quality stitching images for ten patients. Our stitching method could be usefully applied into the stitching of 3D or 2D multiple images.

  • This paper presents an x-ray medical image panorama system which can overcome the smallness of the images that exist on a source computer during remote medical processing. In the system, after the standard medical image format DICOM is converted to the PC standard image format, a MSR algorithm is used to enhance X-ray images of low quality. Then SURF and Multi-band blending are applied to generate a panoramic image. Also, this paper evaluates the proposed SURF based system through the average gray value error and image quality criterion with X-ray image data by comparing with a SIFT based system. The results show that the proposed system is superior to SIFT based system in image quality.

  • Virtual view synthesis, which generates novel views similar to the characteristics of actually acquired images, is an essential technical component for delivering an immersive video with realistic binocular disparity and smooth motion parallax. This is typically achieved in sequence by warping the given images to the designated viewing position, blending warped images, and filling the remaining holes. When considering 6DoF use cases with huge motion, the warping method in patch unit is more preferable than other conventional methods running in pixel unit. Regarding the prior case, the quality of synthesized image is highly relevant to the means of blending. Based on such aspect, we proposed a novel blending architecture that exploits the similarity of the directions of rays and the distribution of depth values. By further employing the proposed method, results showed that more enhanced view was synthesized compared with the well-designed synthesizers used within moving picture expert group (MPEG-I). Moreover, we explained the GPU-based implementation synthesizing and rendering views in the level of real time by considering the applicability for immersive video service.

  • This paper is related to a skinny smudge blending method using the arbitrary-shaped master adhered closely to the contour shape. The smudge tool is the popular graphic tool embedded in Adobe Photoshop CS6. The smudge tool is used to smear paint on your canvas. The effect is much like finger painting. We can use the smudge tool by selecting its icon on the toolbox of Adobe Photoshop CS6 and dragging in the direction you want to smudge while holding the mouse button down on the image. As the smudge tool blends all the pixels within a radius of the master to generate the result image, its disadvantages are to smudge even the pixels in the undesired region. In this paper to reduce the disadvantage, the skinny smudge blending method using arbitrary-shaped master is proposed. The proposed blending method has the advantage of applying the smudge effect to the desired regions regardless of the background as the arbitrary-shaped master adhered closely to the contour shape is extracted by color image segmentation.
